Do you have any headcanons for your genderbent versions of Mia and Afton? How they met or how they got together?
they knew each other ever since middle school.
but they didn't actually start out as friends but as quite bitter rivals. prior to them meeting, they were both super intelligent students in their respective classes.
michael especially was aware of this and was quite vain about it. but when dr. w. and him became classmates around 6th grade, he realized that he has met an academic rival; someone on par or even more intelligent than he was.
of course, afton also takes pride in her knowledgeability so when acknowledges that michael was just as smart as she was, she didn't hesitate to go full-on nerd on michael and took any opportunity to outdo him in class. michael, sensing her intentions, of course took that as a declaration of war.
they often got into little spats and arguments with one trying to beat (outsmart) the other at any chance they get to. this little rivalry persisted as they continued up from middle school to high school to the first years of college.
but as they got older, the actually got to know more about each other amidst their mostly spiteful exchanges. each of them got to understand the other more and more so the bitter rivalry became more of a friendly one.
then one thing led to another, and they realized that they have developed romantic feelings for the other though both didn't really have the guts to admit it at first.
but eventually, one of them decided to confess...
michael still remembers and considers that moment as his "ultimate victory" in their long-standing rivalry.
sure, even up to the present his fiancee may be technically more intelligent than him and could almost easily win over him in the academic field, but the way he made her speechless and flustered when he confessed was the only victory he'll be ever needing.
and he continues to rub that fact in by playfully flirting with her from time to time :)))
