i will drag all of you ( ily @fortunegambled for already joining me in mechs hell ) into the mechanisms au so heres a helpful list of where to start:

1. gunpowder tim vs. the moon kaiser (tales to be told) - honestly the whole tales to be told album is gold but its been correctly pointed out that this track especially is good for seeing whether youre gonna vibe with the mechs or not.

2. once upon a time (in space) - yeah the whole album. its a good one to start with. i mean who doesnt like a sci-fi retelling of famous fairytales only its about a rebellion against a millennia-old tyrant conqueror king

3. after this its okay to branch out to either high noon over camelot, the bifrost incident, or ulysses dies at dawn, whichever suits your fancy! the tales to be told albums (aside from gtvstmk) are better if you listen to them afterwards. frankestein can go basically anywhere imo, but id maybe recommend you listen to it last. // EDIT: NO WAIT OBVIOUSLY YOU LISTEN TO DEATH TO THE MECHANISMS LAST

4. after youre thoroughly hooked, theres even more lore on the mechs website.

two things to note before you get started: the mechanisms tell tragedies so dont expect happy endings, and its important that you listen to the album tracks in order (except for the tales to be told albums, the order doesnt matter with them).enjoy!

okay so the mechanisms au, right?

the mechs are a more or less immortal crew of space pirates that enjoy causing violent chaos across the galaxy and telling tales of their encounters across space in form of song. well, really they are a now disbanded band originating from oxford, their style being folk done sci-fi and steampunk themed cabaret. wild i know, check them out.

anyway, in the au i think ienzo would take ivy’s place as the archivist and navigator. raph’s position as science officer would also work but im vibing with ivy more.

i just need to figure out how much mechs lore i want to use and how much i want to combine or switch it with kh lore. theres so much of both and this au works in so many ways im dshsfghd

the posts have begun, so can i propose we shift to calling it sexual or sensual sunday, because “sinday” implies there being something wrong with sexuality, which is…. y'know, not great

even as a joke, it’s still a subconscious “sex = sin” mentality, and that’s just bad. “sensual sunday” is even better than “sexual sunday,” since it doesn’t imply graphic content and can just include some risqué/passionate content.

i was talking about this with a friend this morning and now that people are coming online, it felt like a good time to say something!
