M: Abir, tumhe mujhe pe bharosa hai? A: Sabse zyada.
YRHPK 20/9/19
So, its been two days, but I’m still not over the Friday episode.
Initially, when this whole ‘asking parents for the girl’s hand’ thing came up, I rolled my eyes. ‘Cos its 2k19, Abir and Mishti are adults, why is the family making such an issue over them falling in love and wanting to marry?
But then I remembered that my situation (or of many of the online audience perhaps) is drastically different from the tv audience watching the show. I mean, I can just announce to my parents that ‘Hey, I found a guy’ and the next thing would be parents of both sides meeting and discussing wedding prep, but it doesn’t work like that in most Indian families. For them, Mishbir’s situation is hella relatable.
Now coming to the scene between Bade Papa and Abir, it was just all kinds of wonderful.
First things first, for a thirty-five year old Shaheer, to play a guy in his twenties, needs to be appreciated, especially in this scene, because he had to bring out the feelings of guy who is meeting the parents of his first love, to ask for her hand, there has to be a certain innocence, a certain worry, ‘what if they say no?’ and a little desperation, because its his first love!
Abir has always, always reminded me of SRK’s romantic heroes of the 90s, but that was the 90s. For Shaheer, to recreate the 90′s, in the 2019, without actually being like that irl, is not an easy task.
Coming to scene itself, there is nothing to say really. Its so….everything that I could’ve never even imagined it to be. 💜
I just loved how Abir tried to convince Mishti’s Bade Papa and Badi Maa, that he would take care of her and love her BUT AT THE SAME TIME did not patronize Mishti; no, emphasized on how much he admired Mishti, for who she is, and wants to stand by her.
I love how cvs always maintain this consistency with Abir’s character, he considers himself lucky, in a way, that Mishti loves him, that he can stand by her side. For him, that is blessing! He has zero arrogance or conceit about his own person, and the ADORATION Abir feels for Mishti just warms my heart.
Heroes adoring the heroine is my favorite thing in fiction.
*thinks back to the airport scene where Abir held Mishti’s hands and brought them near his head*
Also, the whole thing about Kunal and Kuhu’s marriage in jeopardy because of Abir and Mishti’s relationship. Abir hasn’t yet told Mishti what exactly transpired on the day of the wedding. But in his heart, he knows that he can compel Kunal to do right by Kuhu, but can’t compel Kunal to love Kuhu.
And says the same to Bade Papa. It was very important to highlight this, for the audience watching the show. The Indian family set up is such that everyone loves to sort out the marriage of others *rolls eyes*, but the fact is that only the two people who have to live in the marriage can do anything about it (thinks about Ishqbaaz and how the three brothers loved interfering in each other’s love lives, with good intentions, ultimately causing more trouble than any good).
Finally, the pace and direction of the scene was slow, with pauses at the right moment, letting everything sink in, keeping in mind the message the show is trying to convey.
YRHPK being a Rajan Shahi production, has never pretended to be anything that it is not. But within the boundaries and limitations of the family drama-cum-romance set up, with lots of song and dance, the show has, till now, managed to stay true to what it promoted when the show was launched.
Yeah, the concept might seem outdated sometimes, but courtship and love marriage are still in the nascent stage in most of India (Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata se desh nahi bana hai), so I really like what the show has managed to do (till now).
THIS. THIS. THIS. 🤧

Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum || Episode 52 || August 27, 2019
➝ Uggh, beda gark. Why’d y'all start the ep with these two panautis?
➝ They’re both such trash people! Pari knows he has a wife, what it’s like to come from a broken family. She’s even seen her sister’s heartbreak! Why is she pursuing this? Networking theek hai, but this definitely ain’t a professional sorta meeting.
And Rohan? His wife seems so nice and affectionate; it doesn’t even look like anything’s amiss in their relationship. His affairs seem like an ego driven pursuit. The thrill of the “chase” is what keeps this interesting for him.
How is this guy related to Rohit who’s stayed committed to a comatose ex?? ’m uncomfortable just watching this. sksks!
➝ Rohan’s like, ‘daaayum! i met mere takkar ki tharki.“
➝ Okay, of all the supporting characters in the Sippy family, YK and Ajit are my faves! Easy actors with great comic timing.
➝ Sidebar: Tanaaz Irani has aged wonderfully. She pretty much looks like she did back in the 90s. Perfect casting for the role of a "cosmetologist” 😂
➝ YESS Bring back Chachu and adoption angle plzz. I’ll take that over the awkward philandering that’s happening rn.
➝ Chachu’s jibe was meant for Nishi and YK, but Naren’s face!!! Chor ki daadi me tinka anyone?
➝ So dramatic!! 😂 Chachu nailing his pout, his left and right profile!
➝ Kya meddlesome family hai boss. No wonder Rohit didn’t tell anyone about Raima. They’d have gotten his ass married right away.
➝ I think she looks pretttty okay? 😂 Would I ever dress up like this even on gunpoint? Probably not. But Sona still manages to pull this jhataak outfit off.
➝ “HI, BABY’ Did he just say that? 😱
OMG I’m not ready for them to start using ”jaan“ and "honey” and “baby” just yet. My heart can’t handle all this!
➝ Tch tch! Rohit is soooo bad at this. Gives a backhanded compliment, then proceeds to tell her that her outfit is tacky. 😂
➝ Me while watching EK’s heroines sashaying in gaudy sarees:
➝ Rohit will pass TF out if he ever sees the ladies on YRKKH.
➝ I think Sona’s got a point. Besides, Rohit’s whole family is dressed in bright red w/ 20 lbs of real sona on them.
➝ Sona got a “shagun?” 🤦♀️ Fake DATING. Not fake MARRIED, Sona!
➝ She’s a through professional. Method actor. Really got into the prep for this “role.”
➝ I kid you not, this is straight out of my mom’s choicest takia-kalaaams to my dad.
They are sooo married.
➝ All he had to do was hold her hand and tell her, “Main sonakshee se pyaar karta hoon” and she melted.
OUR GIRL IS IN DANGER, SQUAD.
➝ OMGGG this whole visual has such married couple vibes. Rohit opening her luggage, them bickering over how they should dress up for a night out, talking about coordinating outfits and whatnot.
They are transitioning into being a couple, but they don’t even realize it 😩
➝ HAHAHAH when I saw spoiler pics from this scene, I was SOO sure Sona’d be dressed in blue too to match Rohit’s outfit. It’s what happens on ITV afterall? The writers subtly mocking audience expectations here 😂
➝ I’d totally not be okay with my bf telling me what to wear, but this is too damn funny to even be offensive or controlling. It’s just batshit crazy, y'all!
➝ Did I mention they look married? 😍
Rohit’d be one of those husbands who’d be losing his head, cleaning the house, cutting vegetables, helping wifey get things together when his family visits their home? 😍
➝ HOLYYY SHIT. ROHIT STAAAAP.
Dude, you gotta give a head’s up before you do this.
I probably would’ve passed out? Yes I would’ve.
➝ He doesn’t even realize what he’s doing to her 😭😭😭
➝ The poor woman just stilled.
Y'all I can’t handle this intimacy. It’s doing thingssss to my heart! Not equipped at all. Nope!
➝ Atleast Rohit realizes that they had a moment? Like, during that “date” when he untied her hair and all, he was totally oblivious to how it was being received by Sonakshee.
But not this time. Rohit registered their closeness too. He felt it.
Confession: I was sooo sure this was going to be a 5 minute sequence between the two, set to some bollywood song. Like, my ITV conditioned ass was expecting something hella filmy. But I’m pleasantly surprised at how well edited and succinct this was; they really didn’t stretch this or resort to theatrics to showcase Ronakshee’s intimacy.
Approve!
➝ IDK if Rohit said this to get her to change the hairstyle or he really meant it? I'ma go with the latter.
➝ Girlfriend? Mother-in-law? What? These people are on a mission to print Rohit’s wedding cards.
➝ OMGGG they finally got Rohit’s POV with filmy bgm 😱😱😱
IT’S HAPPENING!
➝ Rohit definitely has a thing for wet-haired Sonakshee.
➝ It’s soo cute that it’s bare-faced Sonakshee, stripped of all her makeup/adornment/glitzy clothing that captivates Rohit 😭😭😭
It’s lovely symbology! He’s drawn to for the person she is. It’s not really about the bells and whistles.
Omggg I maybe crying a little *hides face*
➝ Wah! Rohit Sippy is rendered speechless. He’s LITERALLY at a loss for words.
Yeah, my queen can do that to people.
➝ There was something so earnest and genuine about Rohit’s “beautiful.” When he finally found his tongue, that was the very first thing that came out of his mouth. He really meant it.
➝ Ugh mere dil me locha ho rela hai 😫😫😫
➝ Fuck it. Sona might still be in denial, but I am legit falling for Mr. Sippy. The way he held her hand, it did things to my heart.
How can their hands have so much chemistry? 😭😭😭
➝ Also, remember the time when Rohit had to escort Sonakshee to that cocktail party and he huffed and puffed like a diva before relenting? Hell, Sonakshee had to ask for his arm so he could properly escort her? We’ve come a long way, haven’t we? 😭😭😭
➝ “Gareebon me baant dena” is such a rich-people-ism.
➝ Rohit! Muh me dahi jam gayi hai kya? Ya need to tell your Nishi “boo” to STFU.
Thankfully the other Sippy women have more tact.
Tanya is soo nice! Rohan, you’re an ass for cheating on this good woman 💀
➝ Veena’s being too pushy. Sonakshee’s come home for the first time and they’re making her do all these rituals already.
➝ Terrible liars.
➝ I am A-okay with Nishi boo playing spoilsport here. This whole thing (especially from Sona’s perspective) is progressing like a freight train, and I wouldn’t mind some speed-breakers tbh. Not to completely derail things, just to set things at a slower, steadier pace for Sona’s own good. That’s all!
➝ Uff I love her okay?! She said ‘no’ and she politely stepped back. She didn’t think doing the ritual was right while they’re playing pretend bf-gf, and she found a way to put her foot down. I STAN!
➝ Starting to get irritated at how passive Rohit seems in all this? Say something, you dolt!
➝ I told y'all YK’s our guy!
➝ Nishi is a mood 😂
➝ Sharam karo, Rohit! “Boyfriend” hoke bhi Nimmi knows more about Sona than you do.
➝ With you, Sona. Love karela and loveee all my spices. Rohit and his westernized ass can take a hike! 😂
➝ Yess, your turn to put him through the wringer for this drama! Do it, sis! Make him pay for it.
➝ I love how amused everyone is by this. It’s cute!
➝ This has such “meet the parents” feel. Like they’re really together and the fam’s getting to know her 😭
➝ Sonakshee is my spirit animal.
➝ Nishi’s elitist radar went off like ‘woaaah!’ I’m sure she’s appalled at Sona’s lack of education.
Bish can stay pressed💁♀️
➝ Rohit’s like, 'I don’t really care about all the extranrous crap" 😭😭😭
➝ Ajit is this fandom’s undercover agent 😂 Always repping us hard.
➝ Cheater Rohan.
➝ Philandering Daddy-O.
➝ Fake dating champion.
All these “imperfect” couples waxing eloquent about love? Touché.
➝ Great, just when Rohit was starting to sing “Ek ladki ko dekha toh” this bhootni Raima makes a comeback. Shani ki tarah sar pe mandraa rahi hai. SMH.
