Many places in India are renowned for producing such applique work, the important regions being northern Gujarat, Bihar, Orissa, Tanjore and its surrounding areas, and Rajasthan.
I am focusing on Orissa region. In Orissa, applique work is carried out at Pipili, Puri, and other places connected with religious festivals and processions.
