quill has been haunting thor since stark told them what happened on titan. it had been such a simple plan - find thanos, kill him, maybe die in the process. thor had been so close. he could have saved them, could have ended the war for the infinity stones, he could’ve seen peter again and found out what came next for them, but instead it all slipped through his fingers. he failed. peter died.
for the last year Thor has been searching for ways to fix it - to undo what tanos did, to bring back the ones who turned to dust, to find a way to bring back his brother, heimdall, his people... to no avail. another failure. and without quill, no hope.
seeing him now stops thor in his tracks, and it is all he can do to keep himself from falling apart. everything washes over him again - thanos’ attack, waking up in the benatar, the two of them entwined, the news of what happened...
“peter,” he says stupidly, eyebrows creased as he stares at the man who had snuck his way under the category of a possible future just as thor faced every intention to die.
make me choose: asked by @sapphiri → sansa stark or daenerys targaryen
I spent my life in foreign lands. So many men have tried to kill me, I don’t remember all their names. I have been sold like a broodmare. I’ve been chained and betrayed, raped and defiled. Do you know what kept me standing, through all those years in exile? Faith. Not in any gods, not in myths and legends. In myself. In Daenerys Targaryen. The world hadn’t seen a dragon in centuries, until my children were born. The Dothraki hadn’t crossed the sea, any sea. They did for me. I was born to rule the Seven Kingdoms, and I will.
like she didn’t deserve a single night’s rest. jessica has done enough bad shit in her life to maybe understand why karma would punish her but this is a bit much. she can feel her heart rate quickening - this is far beyond ninjas in new york, this is some avengers level shit gone way wrong, and she sure as hell did NOT sign up for it. “i’m either too tired or too drunk because i know that i am not on a different planet right now.”
“aw, see, now this is what i call a party !!” harley can hardly contain her excitement as she surveys her new surroundings. their base was a little too clean for her liking - it would need some roughing up before it really started to feel like home, otherwise it felt too much like arkham... or at least what arkham was supposed to be. before it fell into the disgusting ruin that felt so much more like a home away from home. “ya see that out there? that looks like a real nice city. i’m thinkin’ since some folks had their dogs come with ‘em here to this creepy place my babies are prolly around here somewhere, so whaddya say? wanna come in town and see what kinda fun these alien guys are till we find ‘em?”
she can’t find the light or the dark - the force has ABANDONED HER COMPLETELY or the world she is in lives without it. rey finds it hard to imagine a world without the force, though she’s lived with the knowledge of it for such a short amount of time. it was the very fabric of being, but this place seems to be just the same without it. the very thought frightens her, and she feels as lost as if she has been dropped off back on jakku after everything.
rey looks up, confused, terror stricken. “there’s no balance,” she says quietly, and shakes her head. no, that’s not right. “there’s nothing. no light, no dark, just... nothing.”
“come ON, clint !!” kate begs, trying not to let her voice come off too whiney. too SPOILED, that is. that’s how clint would put it. he was definitely right. “i’m PRACTICALLY AN AVENGER, don’t you think if i want to boast ‘saving the world’ i should be able to do that outside of new york?” she puffs out her bottom lip, flashing the doe eyes she only ever used when she wanted something. “i’d offer to provide all the snacks but i basically do that already, so...”

a brow raises as the younger brunette walks over to her and promptly sits down on her lap before putting her feet up. as if she were at home, as if this were a normal day. if it were anyone else, hela wouldn’t have tolerated such a thing, but she’d be lying if she said she hadn’t taken a liking to the other. ever so gently, pale finger tips move to brush against lorna’s shoulder, absent-mindedly drawing different patterns as she thought. humming, her head perks up as lorna speaks. “they call the planet meraviglia. it’s nice looking, i suppose. above midgard standards, but below asgard ones.” her eyes moved to the tea, gently taking it from her and sipping at it for a moment before handing it back. “what exactly is in that?” she asked. she didn’t hate it, she was just curious.
hela is many things, that much had made itself clear immediately, even before lorna learned that she’s the GODDESS OF DEATH. perhaps that’s why she’d found herself drawn to her - aside from her beauty. lorna has a “strong personality” - that’s what her adoptive mother had said. she’s someone whose presence is felt long before she speaks a word, and that isn’t always such a good thing. hela’s presence had been unmistakable, and for the first time lorna didn’t feel like she was one of the few unusual ones in the room.
it’s a bold move now, making herself comfortable on hela’s lap like this, but lorna feels safe enough. though her recent behavior might suggest otherwise it’s not often she opens her legs for just anyone, least of all a six thousand year old goddess, and she feels confident enough that hela holds herself to the same standard - and not just because there are slim pickings in the area when it comes to six thousand year old goddesses.
“mm,” lorna nods, watching hela’s hand from the corner of her eye, smiling at the gentle sensation of her fingertips against her skin. “i would’ve liked to see asgard. the real asgard, anyway. i’ve only ever seen a drawing in a kid’s book on the day i first heard about thor. only the book said loki was the god of fire and he somehow fucked a rock. i think that’s when he gave birth to the eight-legged horse,” she explains, recalling her time in the library and the angry looks she’d received from the librarian when she laughed too loud. it makes her smile even now.
she glances down into her mug of fake tea, making a face at hela’s question. “that’s... a great question. i’ve been calling it tea in my head, but i made it with what i think was fruit because i felt weird about using the plants here to steep in hot water. seemed like a higher chance of mortality than using fruit.”

lorna dane approaches the red-suited MERC WITH A MOUTH with a cocky smirk on her lips and a mischievous glow in her eyes. she was an x-man sometimes, a criminal others - it varies day to day and no matter how things go she’s always THE DAUGHTER OF MAGNETO. the one god forsaken title she can’t escape no matter where she goes, so it seems, but as for who she is here remains to be seen. THUS why she sought out wade fucking wilson.
she’s heard plenty about him from colossus, a few words here and there from the professor himself who seems to know everything and everybody, big surprise there, and at the end of the day she was feeling INTRIGUED more than anything. “deadpool,” she greets, putting her hand on her hip. “word is you have a TEAM that’s like the x-men, but cooler. that TRUE?”

mars has always been a PEACE-KEEPER. he had a cold exterior, yes, and he could be judgmental and skeptical, but he was never one to start a fight. in fact, he AVOIDED them as best he could. “you can put your hands down,” he says, giving the other a small smile. he could defend himself if need be - he had earned the nickname NINJA for a reason. but this man seemed to not want a fight - genuinely. “i’ve got no weapons either.” he says, raising his own hands for a moment before letting them drop down to his sides. “earth.” he answers quickly, shoving his hands in his pockets as he straightens up slightly. “are you supposed to be here? supposed to be seeing US? your people seem to make an effort to avoid us.”
it dawns on him suddenly that the man before him really knows NOTHING about the planet he is on. intruders were normally there with a purpose, aware of the dangers they faced due to the planet’s closed borders. the milky colored stranger seems to know as little of his presence as fëanor does. “on the contrary,” the man says slowly, “if the king or the rest of my people knew you were here, it would be quite the spectacle. and it would probably end in tragedy, if only due to misunderstanding.” misunderstanding. that was one way to put it. a better word for it would have been intolerance, but perhaps such honesty wasn’t the best way to welcome a stranger to meraviglia. fëanor grins. “my name is fëanor. i cannot say you face a warm welcome on meraviglia. not publicly, anyway.”

clint laughs softly as matt asks if he sounds the same. he holds onto the other man tightly, tears welling up in his eyes. he refuses to let go. not yet, anyway. he’d missed matt - and that was an understatement. “don’t know yet, love,” he whispers, accidentally letting the old pet name slip out, but he surprisingly doesn’t regret it. and then matt adds that he smells great, and he laughs again, a small grin coming across his face. “still like coffee, huh? glad to hear it. i haven’t given up that habit. not yet. hopefully not ever.” he pulled back, resting his head against matt’s for a second. “still getting yourself killed almost every night?” he hummed. “i still love you, asshole,” he said playfully. “i can’t risk losing you. not again. if you’ll even have me back,”
matt’s eyes are hidden by his red tinted glasses and he is grateful for it. his eyes sting with tears and he closes them at the sound of clint’s laugh, at being called love. the years between them had been matt’s best, his happiest. even foggy had noticed the changes in him while he had been with clint - the way he smiled more easily, the way he looked at every day so positively. things had been right before he ruined it all.
“stop,” matt says, shaking his head. he lifts a slightly shaking hand and takes off his glasses, folding them up and stuffing them in his pocket, feeling bare in front of clint. there’s nothing to hide the hurt in his expression or his tears. “just... stop. it was never about whether i’d take you back, it was... it was about...” it was about what? it was about him. matthew murdock. it was about DAREDEVIL. it was about whether or not matt murdock and daredevil could co-exist. it was about every stupid thing he had done since meeting clint and despite meeting clint. it was about ending up half-dead in dumpsters alone.
“i was wrong,” matt says finally, quietly, and his right hand moves forward and touches clint’s, curling just a few fingers around his. his left hand moves up clint’s arm and onto his shoulder, then to his neck, his thumb on his cheek. his movements are slow and gentle as he waits - maybe even expects - clint to push him away, but he doesn’t. the space between them closes and matt presses his lips to clint’s - and if moments were made of sound this would have been a symphony.
every touch of clint’s hands sends electric shocks through matt’s body and he fights the moan that builds in his throat. he parts his lips and deepens their kiss - every unsaid thing that lingered between them is quieter, now, and their years together come tumbling forward. their bodies respond to each other like a practiced dance and matt presses himself against clint, his thumb stroking his cheek, his arm wrapping around his waist, gently pulling him closer.
pietro shook his head as he looked around the city in the distance for a moment, before his eyes settled on his boyfriend. it was recent, that they’d actually talked about just what they were, but it made pietro happy. though, what made him even happier, was not being painted blue anymore. how long had they done that for anyway? far too long. just trying to blend in, to not start a panic. “what do you think of this planet?” he asked, his arms crossed over his chest as his gaze moved back to the window, gazing out again at the city. the bright lights and commotion they could see but not hear. “do you think we’re safe?”

arthur has never been much of an adapter. he’s always been part of the land and part of the sea, never choosing one side or the other, neither his mother’s nor his father’s son. but on a new planet, surrounded by strangers, it was different. it would have been more difficult, maybe impossible had it not been for pietro. the relationship that developed between them was almost inevitable, and it was grounding. all the guilt he felt, the fear of choosing between two lives, of accepting his role as king of atlantis - around pietro it could all be forgotten, even if just for a moment.
arthur turns to look at him, arms crossed across his chest, eyes contemplative. “honestly,” he says slowly, “i think they’re scared of something, which makes them dangerous.” it was unsettling to think about, given the time they spent blending in amongst the natives. “but i think we’re a lot safer in here than we were out there.” he uncrosses his arms and sits on the edge of their bed, shaking his head. “THANOS wanted us dead,” he says, musing about the same thing that’s been plaguing his mind since waking up on this planet. “he wouldn’t just send us to another planet. another universe. i know he didn’t bring me from mine. why would he invite more enemies into the fight? it doesn’t make sense.”
clint feels like he could cry; coming face to face with the man he’d loved and left years ago, then later returned to only to have him fade away to dust in his arms. but who was he kidding - had he ever stopped loving matt? that was a definite no. taking in a shaky breath, he approaches. “hey stranger,” he breaks the silence, a small smirk forming. “long time, no see.” was that pun intended? probably. HE HAD MISSED MATT SO MUCH, but he was too scared to say that outloud. “i’ve got no hearing aids. just a heads up. think i lost ‘em again.” he laughed dryly, but the humor was hard to find. he was cracking jokes, sure, but seeing matt again after losing him - that had ruined him for a while - was far from easy nor funny. “fuck it.” he muttered, moving to pull - his lover? ex lover? - matt into a hug.
@prekrasnaaya
had matt ever felt love the way he felt love for clint barton? had matt ever stopped missing him? ever since clint left something has been missing, things felt more hollow. all he had left were karen and foggy and when elektra had come back into his life, he lost them, too. he lost EVERYONE. all he wanted was to make things right - to stand in front of clint and apologize, to say he’d made a mistake but he doesn’t know how to change. he wanted clint to know how much he’d meant - how much he means - to him, but it all went wrong and he was... gone. dead, maybe. it wasn’t all that surprising, it had only ever been a matter of time, like everyone said. it wasn’t at all like he expected. there was no fight, no heaven, no hell, just... nothing.
and then there was meraviglia. and now there’s clint.
matt hears and smells him before he speaks - that steady, trained heartbeat, and fresh brewed coffee. matt’s throat closes and he looks down, grateful that he’s wearing his glasses, hoping it’s enough to hide the hurt in his eyes. but he can’t help but smirk, shaking his head. “do i sound the same?” he asks aloud, and signs as he speaks. maybe some things will never change. that’s what hurts the most.
matt cocks his head at clint’s words - fuck it - and for a moment he doesn’t understand - and then clint’s arms are around him and he feels his whole body relax into the hug. he wraps his arms around clint and swallows. I MISSED YOU, he wants to say. I LOVE YOU. I DON’T EVER WANT TO LOSE YOU. LET ME TRY AGAIN. LET ME BE BETTER. but none of that comes out. instead he says, stupidly, “you smell great.”

@prekrasnaaya ~~> to natasha ; from peggy with love
“Miss Romanoff. I am not entirely shocked that you are here.” it seemed many of their people had been placed on this planet or in her case; reborn. A small yet gentle smile came from the brunette as she looked at the red-haired woman. “I must say, I am actually overjoyed to see you again.” Peggy had always held a liking to Natasha; even before she turned a new leaf with S.H.E.I.L.D. She knew that day when she encountered her back when she was brainwashed, there was good in her.
kindness is a peculiar thing in the way it manifests itself, and how it can linger. there are small acts of kindness every day that come and go - easy to forget, easy to move on. but once or twice there is a moment where someone chooses kindness that can change your life forever - and that’s who PEGGY CARTER is to natalia romanova - because many, many years ago, in the dead of a russian winter, agent carter spared her life. and natalia never forgot.
peggy looks just the same now: vibrant, beautiful, bright brown eyes and shockingly red lips. she feels like a child again - cold, alone, so small and so deadly, facing down a woman twice her size in the snow. to a brainwashed child, peggy’s terrible act of letting a mission go meant that there was always another option. it just didn’t show itself until clint.
“agent carter,” natasha says quietly, her eyes wide. “you’re alive.” how many times had natasha wished she could thank her for what she had done? but the words don’t come so easily. “you saved me.”
