âYou believe in feminism, just donât worry about supporting yourself, thatâs my job as the manâ
Why should I have to rely on you for everything, when did I become useless?
âDonât feel bad, women arenât good at math and science-itâs just naturalâ
âCan you wear less revealing clothing in the weight room?â
How come the boys can run around shirtless?
âYou know politics is a man-dominated world, good luck-youâll be labeled a bitch if you stand up for what you believe inâ
But why is standing up for what I know is right wrong?
âWomen should be seen and not heard. Be quiet already!â
Yet, you can interrupt class to give your opinion?
âThe rape culture does not exist-stop lying.â
Then why am I afraid to walk home alone or walk two blocks from the bus station to my job downtown?
Or afraid to go on my trail run in the middle of the day?
âThe pay gap will always exist, you canât change itâ
Why does it exist in the first place?
âYou know youâre a woman right, there are just certain things you cannot do?â
Are you aware you are an arrogant asshole?
Statements like this are not uncommon. Common talk in school-the work force even.
Yet when I try to stand up for myself, I should âLearn my placeâ, but quiet like a good domesticated housewife.
If they can make statements like this, why canât I question them?
It is 2016⊠why am I still expected to accept being âlesserâ?
