What, smile?
I was gonna say wear your hair in a bun, but that too, sure.
Piper tried her best to ignore the tell tale sound of a car slowing down beside her. It was bad enough that she looked like a disaster, but running into anyone familiar would just be worse. She paused when she heard a voice, turning to look and squinting through the rain. She knew who the man was. âPrescott, isnât it? I just need a phone. Mine is dead.â
âOh, yeah, it is.â He didnât even recognize her. A little tingle of dissapointment tingled up his spine. A snack wouldâve been great right now. âYou can borrow mine, no problem. Do you want to come inside?â
God.
I better not flood.
It doesnât look very promising.
âWhy do I always get the crazy ones? In the middle of these damn storms, too?â Piper hugged her jacket tighter around herself, looking at her car that now sat in a giant puddle. One of the tires was flat, most likely thanks to the drive over to the scene she was called to. She was already soaked to the bone now that the wind picked up, and the witch was about five seconds away from using her powers to steal someone elseâs car so she could get home. She pushed her wet, red hair out of her face, stomping off back towards her house. It was going to be a walk, but there wasnât much else she could do about it. Not while the rain decided to take a dump all over her and her situation. Not only had the suspect been crazy, but he had collected chicken bones and tried to pass them off as human. Piper didnât enjoy sorting through poultry remains while insisting that nothing there had even been human at all. âI fucking hate Saturdays.â
Okay, a trip to the store was a bad idea. Prescott realised that when the wind broke his umbrella. Ducking his head low and trying not to step in one of the million puddles, he slowly made his way. He got there, only to see that the store is closed. Cursing under his breath, he stopped the first car that passed and used compulsion on the driver. He rarely used compulsion anymore, but this is important. He has no food in his fridge nor did he had any blood in awhile. He was grumpy, to say the least. He took the road in a to him, unknown direction and hoped for the best. Five minutes into driving, he saw a figure standing on the side of the road. He decided to stop, the hunger got the best of him. Rolling the window a little bit, he asked âHi there, need any help?â
You should do that more often, you know?Â
Donât apologize. I think sleep would be good for you.
You donât have to bring me home. I donât want to be a burden.
No, itâs not too far. Just up the shoreline. Come on, youâll be fine.
If you say so. Iâm sorry if I pass out.
Well. My father always told me I should have been an electrician.
What stopped you?

âYeah, itâs special to me.â Marina knew how special the ocean was to her. However, she also knew it would always be apart of her life. No matter how much she wanted to explore. There would always need to be a coast nearby. âIâm definitely not along. Nileâs been a good younger brother. What about you? Do you have any family?â Marina asked with a smile. She could stepped inside of the bookstore and took in the environment. It was very peaceful. Maybe she would get some reading in.Â
He took a look around the bookstore to see if anything is out of ordinary or different. Everything seemed as it always does, tranquil. âI have 3 brothers and 2 sistersâ, not including Drew, that is, âwell, we are half-siblings but I consider them my real ones.â They are not, in fact nor real nor half. They are just his coven-siblings, but Prescott doubts they consider him their brother anymore. âDo you want to browse around or something till I take care of thisâ, he said pointing to the pile of books next to the main desk.
Youâre welcome!
Is your home far away? I donât know how long can I walk.
Alright, itâs not that badâŠ
Thatâs what I keep saying!
Come on, letâs go. I can get you some water. It looks like you could use some.
That would be awesome, thank you.

âWas Colorado pretty? Iâve never been beforeâŠI prefer to live along the coast butâŠto travel somewhere for a weekend would be nice..â Her need for the ocean once a week required her to never move anywhere further from the coast than necessary. Besides, she felt safest there. âYes! He lives with me. All we have is each other since my..my parents were killed.â Biting her lip, Marina looked down. Talking about her parents was sad butâŠshe didnât want to let it ruin their time together.
âYes. Beautiful. I loved it there. But, I also like it here. Being by the sea is actually quite nice. I see why you donât want to move.â Sea was new to him. He was on a vacation a few times, sure, but living on the coast and being so close to the water is relaxing. He loves hearing the waves chrashing and nightâs sky reflecting on it. âThatâs good then! At least youâre not all alone.â He couldnât help it and let out another sigh.  All of his brothers and sisters are so far away from him.
âAnybody have a couch to spare? My house spontaneously grew a swimming pool.â
Iâd offer help, but I barely have space for myself.

Marina shook her head and smiled at Prescott. If only he knew her real age. âNo, itâs not a problem at all,â Marina smiled. She looped her arm through his as they continued to walk but let it drop once they reached the door. âHmmâŠwhere did you used to live before Divinity? IâŠIâve been here my whole life. Thereâs a small bungalow on the shore thatâs for me and my brother.âÂ
âGood, Iâm gladâ, he smirked. Once the door was unlocked he took a minute to think what does he want to know about her. She already told him about her parents and brother. âWhere did I used to live?â For a moment, he let his mind take him to the place he once called home. âColorado,â he sighed. He still misses it. âIs your brother in town or?â
Well Iâll try not to abuse it. Do you want to come back to my house? Maybe we can relax there.
Sure, why not?
And what are you doing for fun, sir?
Some hunting here and there, scaring people and such. What about you?
