I'm Izzy, and this is where I post about the loveable dumbasses that have my brain in a chokehold. Where can you see these charming idiots? I'm glad you asked—

#Sinlaira
My longest running D&D world, where I play Pepper! Wanting to prove to her family that she wasn't useless, Pepper snuck out of her hometown at 15 to find her own adventure. It's been three years of trauma, death and shenanigans, and her story holds an enormous place in my heart.

#Irstiaris Cannon Compliant
Irstiaris is the second campaign I'm in, playing as Heat! In a world where monsters are becoming increasingly commonplace, Heat joins the Adventurer's Guild to try and find his missing family. He's the brightest and most gullible sweetheart you'll ever meet, and I want to kiss him breathless.
A hypothetical happily-ever-after story set in the future of Irstiaris where Heat and Alister get married, find the Tieflets, and start up a traveling performance act dedicated to making the world a brighter place, regardless of who you are. It has spiraled out of hand and taken over my brain.
OC checkpoint because I'm curious...
What's the physical trait you like the most on your OC's face? A little detail you love paying attention to when you draw them. Their face just doesn't feel complete until you've added that thing. Tell me
My piece ended up being for @wandererofeternity!!! I absolutely loved drawing this, Taglar was the perfect little guy to get me back into the swing of drawing!
alt without blur under the cut, look at my endless ropes
First and foremost— Any amount of prep is fantastic, and the most important thing is not to overwhelm yourself! The minimum needed to join Art Fight is to pick a team and have at least a single character up so I can get your ass in retaliation. I've attacked plenty people with the minimum, so dont sweat the extra stuff. Hell, my first artfight I was still trying to put up character profiles halfway through the fight, because I'd only learned what it was three days after it started. I had a blast regardless, and you're already doing better by being any amount of prepared lol
Rambling out of the way, there are some things you can prep beforehand that people will find helpful!
(Cut because this got long— apologies if this comes across as overwhelming, personally a list that outlines everything is what I appreciate most when getting into something new so I tried to offer that here!)
References
The Basics for a good reference is a flat colored fullbody drawing of the character, preferably in a pose that doesn't cover up their design (e.g. not crossing their arms over their outfit)
A color palette you can eyedrop from is greatly appreciated for digital artists
That's it, 10/10 reference
If you need help filling blank space or want to spruce it up a bit, I've got a Google Doc full of fun ideas here
Profiles
The next thing you tackle when prepping for Art Fight is writing character profiles. Plenty of people leave theirs blank, and that's completely fine to do!
However, if you want people to understand your little guy's personality, or even draw a lore accurate scene (it happens and it will kill you the second you see it, as a fair warning), then a smidgen of writing is in order
I am a horrible person to be giving advice on this as I enjoy writing what's practically a full length novel in my character profiles, but here goes
The Basics is a sentence or two describing their personality
A couple sentences summing up their backstory
And describing the dynamic they have with any other characters you have up (if they're part of the same world). I'm biased towards people including this because I love drawing character interactions, but it is (like all of this) completely optional
Also, here's a good spot to write down any details your reference doesn't make obvious if need be (Age, race (especially if its a fantasy one), height, gender/body type, those sort of details)
That's it
You don't really have to write more
Hell, this is still longer than most people's
like I said I struggle with being brief
evidently
Permissions
Okay, this one is important
On Artfight, you have Global Permissions and Character Permissions. How these work is that Global Permissions is what kind of art you are comfortable seeing for all of your characters. Global Permissions are displayed on your character page, and at the bottom of each character's profile (unless you turn off Global Permissions for that character, i.e. making them exempt from those rules.)
Character Permissions are individual for each character, in case they have anything specific you are/aren't comfortable seeing for them. Character Permissions are only displayed at the bottom of the character profile you wrote it for.
It can be overwhelming to know what to put here, but its simple. You're going to want to put your comfort level on the different filters Art Fight has. These would be Moderate Gore, Extreme Gore, Body Horror, Moderate Nudity, Extreme Nudity, Suggestive Themes, and Eyestrain. The site has rules on what falls into those categories here.
Other things its helpful to specify is if you're comfortable being included in mass attacks, interactions or shipping with others characters, gender/species swap, design simplification, and changing up outfits! And, of course, any specific squicks or triggers you might have.
The simplest way I've found to lay this out is to write a list in your Global Permissions of everything out of the above that you're cool with, a second list of everything you're not, and a third of things that vary between characters.
For example, I will light up seeing the goriest art of Pepper— but seeing even a scratch on Virya makes my stomach turn, so I have it written on my Global Permissions to check the character's individual permissions for gore, then write my specific comfort level on their Character Permissions. Eye trauma makes me flat out uncomfortable, so that gets firmly placed on the No list for me.
And that's pretty much it! If you have any questions my DMs/askbox is open to help. I know you're going to have a blast, Art Fight is an incredibly fun event and usually is the highlight of my year. Good luck fighting!
beginning to like absolutely despise my own art despite also still being proud of it?? and wanting to change my style but just Can't
i don't even KNOW what type of art style i want to have dude sometimes I want it to be really cartoony, sometimes really stylized, sometimes realistic-ish
What Do I Do ???
i know this is a normal artist thing but i usually don't feel like this ??? hrelp
This thing has personally helped me understand a lot of my slumps, and it might be helpful to you!
As for art style, my advice I always give to figure out your style, is to not worry about style. At All. Banish the thought. It might sound counterproductive, but your style is just how you feel most comfortable drawing! Just keep drawing often, and practice things you feel like you struggle with. If you dont like how something looks, poke around to see how others do it and try it out until you like how it looks. Get out of your comfort zone and draw something different than you usually do. Try out a completely new medium. Go back to what you usually draw and apply what you learned. Your style will come together into something you're happy with over time as you practice your skills
And there's no pressure to have one style, either. I've got friends who practically switch artstyles with every drawing they do. I've got a couple styles I swap between depending on the piece. Play around with all of it!
This is all just general advice that's helped me though, and I hope it helps you. Good luck out there soldier, you got this

Speaking of spiders Georg and Howl’s moving castle I assume Sophie Hatter truly is spiders Georg seeing as she moved right into Howl’s spider filled bedroom
"Howl Jenkins is swarming in girls falling head over heels for him" factoid is actually a statistical error. Average girl is tired of his existence. Sophie Hatter, who falls head over heels for his stupid overdramatic face at least once a day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted
So my friend has been talking about a new political intrigue based campaign he wants to run. I have been told repeatedly it won't be happening for years. So I'm not supposed to get too excited yet.
So meet Ophelia! Daughter of a member of the Golden Court and heir to her house. Her backstory is clawing at my mind like a cat at a closed door but I cant say SHIT about it because the party follows me. For YEARS apparently help me
