‘’The cute one?’’, he smiled. ‘’But I can confirm that Abbey is fucking strong. Like, when we were younger, we used to play 1x1 matches everyday after school and I was basically smashed by her. Always.’’
“That explains why I like her so much.” She laughed. “Don’t worry, you still have your good qualities. Every strong man needs an even stronger woman at his side.”
‘’My mother is a journalist, and I wasn’t gifted with her writing skills, only sports passion. And my father… I think the powers I have are enough. I’m a terrible when it comes to playing sports, I’d rather only analyzing it, just like my mother does. And Abbey is a way better player than I am’’
“Oh! So you’re the cute one in the relationship. Abbey’s the strong one. How hilarious is it that you two fit together so nicely?” Lei lifted the snowball and tossed it at Iker.
“You want me to sing? I um..I never sing in front of anyone. Are you sure?”
Lei gave her a comforting smile. “Nothing could go wrong with a little singing.”
Jenna sighed. “Alright.” She began singing, one of her favorite songs.
Heroes always get remembered
but you know legends never die
Lei sighed. She loved that song, and she loved the way Jenna sang it. She knew she had to wait until the other girl was finished to speak, though.
She finished singing and looked over at the girl, wondering what she thought.
“Lovely. Absolutely beautiful. Do you like to sing, or is it an off-occasion thing?”
She shrugged. “Its a bit of both. I love singing but I don’t do it very often, at least not around people.”
“Well, if you ever want to practice, just give me a call. I love listening to people sing.”
‘’I’m a terrible singer. I guess my shower singing is a thing that my mother doesn’t miss’’, he said. ‘’Mr. Letterman jacket?’’, he smiled.
“Don’t tell me you weren’t gifted with neither your mother’s singing or your father’s athleticism.” She picked up a snowball, shaping it carefully.
“You want me to sing? I um..I never sing in front of anyone. Are you sure?”

Lei checked her recipe again. “Hey, Lyra, could you grab the flour from the top shelf? I’ll get the sugar, and then we should be all set.”
Lyra put her hands up in mock surrender, “I grew up in pretty much everywhere, ranging from Wales to NYC, but only stayed in really big cities, so the south is just a big blank for me. Okay, but all that cooking, it’s not quite for the bad. Especially being so far behind! I knew fourth graders who smoked weed, for lack of a better word, everyday.” Lyra peered over Lei’s shoulder, “Can I help with anything?”
Lei hands the other girl a large spoon. “You never even thought about living in Nashville? That’s a shame. The have the absolute best food trucks. There’s this one that sells crepes that gives me free food because I got my father to sponsor them. Seriously, if you ever visit Tennessee, I could get you in wherever you want, or get you whatever you want.” She shifts to a lower cabinet. “Could you add the nutmeg and stir the rest of the ingredients?”

“Where did you grow up, Kansas?” Lyra joked, grabbing the other apron and tying it, is was a lot easier than she thought. “The only thing I really know how to cook is mac and cheese… Oh, Gods, I’m going to be an awful wife.”
Lei narrowed her eyes at Lyra. “Kansas? You think that’s in the south? No, I grew up in Tennessee, the home state of hospitality. Everyone there is living about fifty years in the past. I learned how to make a pie by five and a full thanksgiving dinner by ten.” She splashed in vanilla abstract. “Don’t think of it as being an awful wife; think of it as being able to only barely take care of yourself.”

Lyra squinted, was that English? It most definitely wasn’t. “Um… okay. Gods, you have aprons? I knew you were southern… but not that southern. Where can you even buy aprons?”
She smiled. “As my grandma always said, ‘A good Southern lady is always prepared to cook.” Lei stopped gathering her measuring cups for a moment. “That’s incredibly sexist, but I’ve lived with it all my life.” She scooped her sugar into a bowl. “Anywhere in the south, an apron is available. Here, I’ll take the cat one and make the decision easier for you.” She winked at her while putting it on.

The daughter of Zeus scurried over to the cabinets, having to go on her tippy-toes, she snatched the flour. “How much do we put in though? I feel like… two cups would be good, you know?”
She laughed. “If you want to make a small batch, sure, two cups is fine. I suggest five to six. I’m hoping to make enough for the entire camp.” Lei lugged the sack of sugar to the cabinet with the other supplies. “Do you prefer the cat apron or the lacy apron?”
