LAST POST OF THE SEMESTER

Here you will continue to learn the craziness of my review of my experience in this class. As a brief review, I started talking about how photography is not my major or any other art for that matter but I took this class as a fun experience.

Continuing on, as I stressed about the first project I realized that this class was not what I thought it was going to be. I really thought that I was going to have fun and I did don’t get me wrong but gosh it was a pain in the butt to get out of my comfort zone and go out there to explore what I wanted to take pictures of. I must say that my biggest challenge in this class was having to much freedom. I really needed a more concrete explanation of what had to be done but nope, I had to come up with the themes and that was the most difficult thing I had to do. Also, learning how to use Lightroom and messing with Photoshop was another crazy adventure but managed to do the best of it. 

My point here is that, although this was a painful, stressful and crazy experience I did learn a lot about photography because I had never used a camera like the one I now owe and I had never had to think about the pictures I had to take and all of that has changed. The final project I think talks for it self because I really did a good job and seeing it in a book makes my little heart happy. I think that this class opened my eyes and gave me a purpose to keep on learning about photography and maybe just maybe I can do something big with what I learn. Sadly, I graduate this semester and taking another photography class doesn’t fit my schedule I have to pursue my dreams of becoming a teacher so, Im sure I will use photography in my future career and for as long as I live..

We decided to go as a family to the park. Interesting enough I didn’t take pictures of what we did so now that I think about it that was very dumb of me. I think that I decided to put this pictures because it reminds me of all the fun we had. Although I didn’t shoot the family having fun, these pictures clearly remind me of what we did that day. So thought of the day-perhaps photography is more than taking a picture of the subject you wish to capture- maybe is more about the pictures that make you think. Anyways this place is located out there in the Avocado Lake area. Its interesting just saying.

Part 2 of Shaver Lake- To continue with my story, we decided to keep on driving up the mountain range and we started to see more and more snow. It was so interesting to see snow specially since I hadn’t seen snow i over 10 years. I have no clue why I haven’t gone up the the mountains when they are so close to me but it is what it is. So we made a few stops and were able to touch the snow and take more interesting shots. I think that I needed to be more prepared for this type of wether but I managed to get through. As you can see my husband did not waste his time because as I was taking some pictures of these tree trunks he was exploring the land and making a snowball to throw at me. As I told him that he better not do what I know he is thinking he asked me to keep taking pictures. Obviously I was a bit afraid because I had the camera on me and I clearly told him to not trow anything because I had the camera but I guess he decided to hear me say- go ahead and take a shot, so he did what he wished. I tried to capture the moment but I needed to move or else. So, interesting enough our trip ended when we weren't able to keep driving up because of all the snow. Out little adventure was a success.

We decided to take a short trip to Shaver Lake last month. Why didn’t I post these pictures up then. I have no clue. I must say the weather at the beginning was great but then as we got closer and closer the more foggy and cloudy it turned. Anyways, here you see a couple of pictures of the nice trees and the combination of fog. When we arrived at the Lake I must say that I was impressed with the little water that appeared to be in it. As gloomy as the weather looked my husband and I spotted a couple. It was obviously an interesting couple.  They were very different and they approached us form the middle of the Lake. I think they were hungry or finding something to do because as the swam closer the scarier I got. But there were literally just a foot away from us so there was good shots to take. I got to give my husband some credit because I certainly did not get to close to these ducks but he did so those pictures are entirely his.

Soooo...three weeks ago I discovered this horrible spider on the very top window of the bedroom. I told my husband and he didn’t see anything so I got my camera, zoomed as far as possible with it, took the pictures and showed him!  I then told him to kill it but he was to busy watching his baseball game and so I took a picture of his very relaxed face while I was nearly going crazy. Ugh.

Overview  of my experience in this class...Part 1

As this is the day before I am done with this class I thought I should leave an over all view of my experience in this class. First, I must remind you that I am no where near to being an art major of any kind. Just to clear this out: THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with being an art major but there is definitely something wrong with my art abilities. I do consider myself as a creative human being however, I never thought that photography was such a pain in the ass. I honestly believe that this class was going to be the one that would give me a break from all the other classes that are preparing me to become a teacher. I just wanted a class that was going to be fun and was going to happily lead me to graduation. I thought sincerely that this was going to be my easy class  but my expectation for this class were too low. I soon came to the truth and realized that this class was not what I expected.

Late- Merritt Johnson-Review

I had totally forgot to post this because during that time I was still working on creating my blog and focused on taking some pictures. Anyways going back now on that artist talk, I see the importance of an artist being a voice to those who are not capable of talking for themselves. Her collaborative project “This is a creation story” was about how she among with other artists, act as a voice for the Standing Rock Pipeline. The way she presented her work was interesting  because along with the collaborative project she also presented some of her own work and on them she explained how she used lines. I think that the way she talked though was very particular because I was expecting her to talk very formal and give a formal lecture but instead she talked very chill and down to earth. She wasn’t trying to make you like her art, instead she talked like she wanted you to understand it which for me made me appreciate her art more. For a first time audience member like me, she really changed my appreciation for the art forms over all.

PROJECT 2

Here are 5 portraits of very hard workers. As my proposal came true it also became true that I am highly interested in pursuing this theme. Now I am still debating what to do for my book story yet I do know that it will be about this theme. I do still have yet to capture those moments of life where these workers are doing other than work. So I want to get pictures of them eating on their break, or perhaps just getting that water break. Getting home. Leaving from home to work. Being with their family. But for the time spent with this group I am so very pleased by the way they have treated me. I want to say that I feel like I am with family each time I go and shoot pictures. It seams that in just a small amount of time they gave me their trust and care.  They all call me by my name, they offer me a lot of food, and over all take care of me. Not even in my wildest dreams had I have  dreamed about doing a project like this but sure as hell I am happy doing this. :)

Story Books Review and Reaction

The first book I looked through I noticed that the cover and tittle appealed to me. So I have to make sure that when I do mine I automatically get the attention of the viewer. I have to also make sure that my tittle gets your interest. With that said. I viewed the student book “Do It All In Heels” by Alana Dudko. Her book was about how she was able to capture things out of her comfort zone. She managed to take pictures of someone in heals and something going on from the angle of the  knee down. She managed to emphasize  the “doing in heals” part. She did though  show a picture of a girl full body so it was a bit weird because her theme didn’t seam consistent. The other store book I saw was “Lost and Found in Bombay” by the professor. I didn’t realize that it was his book but what got my attention was that I skimmed through the book and the picture where so interesting because it opens the door to a different environment and a different culture. I really like the way he captured all kinds of different people doing so many different things most of the shots have the subject staring at the lenses I really like that. It gives me an idea on how I would like to do go about project 2.

Theme 2 Proposal

For my theme 2 I would like to continue on what I started, that is, the work out there in the fields. I really really want to take some type of portraits of workers. Im not sure how I’m going to go about it but I know that those pictures will be taken within the environment and get people from the right angles. I want those pictures to have a different type of impact. So there I’ll go...

I was a chaperone for my little sister back on the 3rd of May. They took a field trip to the Natural History Museum in L.A.  I took care of my sister along with 3 other students. There was way to many things to look at that sadly we didn’t get to see them all but it was a nice experience.

TO BE HONEST!

There is so many pictures I need to post it’s crazy! Keep checking my blog for more. As I have stated before I am a beginner in photography so bare with me! I don’t promise the BEST pictures in the world but I do promise a lot of pictures. :)

Meet LULU, she is a very energetic dog that will jump on you if you are not aware of your surroundings. Sadly she is not trained but she is very friendly. Thank God. She is not my dog. I wish she could be but oh well. Anyways the only way I can be around her is with my husband being around or when she is tied up. (I know it sounds crazy but she is a large dog and I am a tiny human).

According to me I was going to do my pictures on some small flowers I found on the side of different roads. Turns out they didn’t make it for the project but they sure made it to the blog! It took all of these this past Sunday, very early. Everything was still wet and I was able to capture lovely water drops on the grass.
