Why Byron and Ella? I never thought about this, so I would like to know how you thought this :)

I can’t look past the fact that they found out that a teacher was banging their daughter and like…did…nothing about it. Like. I know they were super scared of alienating Aria too, but like…..your job as a parent is to protect your child. Yeah she was gonna be pissed and hurt and betrayed but……. yikes. Instead, they just let it keep happening and …. they…….they were okay with her marrying him. Like that’s just so fucked up

I see people say this kind of stuff all the time but with all due respect… did you forget that Byron unleashed his wrath of anger upon Aria, forbidding her from ever seeing Ezra again? Byron even got Ezra a job in another town, and when Ezra rejected it, Byron said he made the wrong choice. So it wasn’t even a choice, it was a demand. Byron was also rejecting Ella because she was taking time to “process” this; he said there’s nothing to process, it’s downright wrong. Byron never gave Ezra his blessing until a couple days before the wedding because he wasn’t really sure. I disagree that they just let it happen. Aria’s mastery in keeping secrets and going behind her parents’ back didn’t help prevent the situation either. They did live a fairytale ending, but it certainly wasn’t easy for them to get there, in my opinion.

I don’t believe they should’ve ended up together without having FURTHER addressed the issue of rape and deception, because yeah, it is messed up. No question there haha but they definitely did address it throughout the series. Perhaps not enough, there was room to further drive the point home, but I’m just adding my two cents here because I disagree that they just let it keep happening :)

Okay but let’s dissect some of this.

First of all, Byron getting Ezra a job in another town to get him away from Aria is actually super gross and still enabling. Ezra having a job in another town would have allowed them to date without the question of abuse of power anymore. What was stopping them from seeing each other? Byron should have gone to the police. They made a big deal about Ezra losing his job but never actually went to the cops. When Ezra the predator turned down the job, Byron then should have contacted the police if that wasn’t going to be his first option.

Aria’s mastery at secret keeping is neither here nor there. It makes no difference in this scenario given that they already knew what was happening. They lived a fairy tale ending that shouldn’t have actually happened and whether it was easy or not doesn’t really matter given the circumstances.

Even if they had further discussed the statutory rape, deception, pedophilia and grooming, they still shouldn’t have ended up together. It should have been discussed and then it should have ended. Full stop.

When I say that Byron and Ella let this happen, I mean they let it happen. Byron, in all of his infinite wisdom, thought he should get a predatory man a new job. His first thought was not to ruin this mans career. His first thought wasn’t police. It was giving him a new job. That in itself is an entirely different discussion about the ways that men are often rewarded for their unsavoury behaviour.

They allowed this to happen by not going to the police. I didn’t forget Byron “unleashed his wrath of anger”. I also didn’t forget that it didn’t actually stop anything. I also didn’t forget that his anger was not what was needed. He is a bad parent because he didn’t go to the cops. Ella is a bad parent because she needed to process and because she didn’t go to the cops.

They could have stopped this. They had every capability to do so. They did not. Unleashing anger on a predator does nothing to actually protect the victim. They did nothing to protect their daughter. So, with all of my respect back at you, their anger was not enough to make them good parents.

Omg I'm so annoyed at some plot holes in PLL I'm doing a re watch and Melissa and Garret both said they wanted to protect Spencer meaning they knew or thought she did something that night and it would have been so much better if it was Alex that did all those things Spencer was confused about in season 4 rather than her just lusting after Toby 🙄🙄

RIGHT! Honestly we can tie a lot of stuff back to earlier seasons on our own but the fact that the writers…just…didn’t do it….boggles my mind. Because they could have. It would have fit. But nooooooo. Ugh. I dunno. It just got too shippy and less mystery-y and the characters weren’t as well written and it was just so cheesy at times idk

I’ve just realised something that has annoyed me to a new extent.

When PLL was being filmed, Julian Morris posted a video of a hooded figure walking into a room. Once the promo for the finale was released, I realised the moment he filmed was when we saw the hooded figure visit Mona in Radley.

We now know this was actually Wren. My question is: why the FUCK didn’t we see Wren IN the actual hoody if Julian was on set whilst this scene was being filmed?!?!?!?!?! We’ve been told Wren wasn’t more involved because Julian wasn’t available for filming, but in this circumstance it seems like they just didn’t even bother. I mean…. he was literally THERE watching instead of doing. Someone hold me back.
