Uninvited... Again
prince-beast:
Adam raised an eyebrow and folded his arms. Really? He was asking this?
“I understand that Belle probably extended the invitation, but you have to remember: this is my castle. And I distinctly recall telling you not to step foot in here.” Even if it took finding a loophole in their last argument. As for the rest of Hook’s speech?
“Your presence in my library insults me.” Perhaps if he wasn’t so stressed with the upcoming delegate’s visit he would have been more tolerant of the other, but it was the last thing he wanted to deal with right now.
“So you did!” he exclaimed, at last standing, “Do you mean to say y’ were not simply being derogatory? I thought you may have taken a brief break from trying to command me to do anything, considering it has never worked.” Arms folded over his chest, one eyebrow raising.
“Hm. I sit quietly, I have no damaged any book I have touched, I was not the first to speak– you would not have even known I had come and gone, if you had not entered just now. And yet, you are insulted.” His head tilted, frown increasing. “Does the fact that you so strongly dislike me while your wife does not bother you? Do I remind you of someone, or perhaps the idea of someone, that has rubbed y’ the wrong way since we’ve met? I can of course understand the general… shall we say disdain, for an outlaw, but surely there is more to it for my mere presence to insult you.”
Irritation crossed the prince's face. The nerve of this pirate! How he acted so high and mighty, all 'better than thou' because he was apparently in the right after all this-
Pause. Inhale. Exhale.
He hated to admit it, but Hook was bringing up some good points (none of which he would confess, of course). A few moments of silence passed before Adam spoke.
"My reasons are my own. While you may feel that you are entitled to hearing them, they are unnecessary. However... I am willing to put them aside temporarily, provided you behave." He turned his attention to a table with documents regarding the forthcoming visit from the delegation. "I do this for Belle, and not for some attempt at a ceasefire." The vital readings were lifted, and Adam intended on withdrawing to another part of the library. After all, Belle could be the reason Hook was here, and he didn't want her to catch them fighting.
