The gym. A strange place, though some aspects bear familiarity. The purpose, much like the Gerudo training grounds where he spent much of his youth, but at the same time, barring the derelict nature of the building, full of the city’s strange technology. Metal machines line the walls, while one of his idle feet kick against a black and white patterned ball.
His wayward path takes him to a court of sorts with tall hoops on each end. Head tilts to one side, as the sound of a ball thumping heavily against the floor reaches his ears. It doesn’t at all take any amount of time to notice the rose haired female aiming the ball in her hands towards one of the hoops. It seems like a pointless game to play, yet, one can exercise their arms well by shooting hoops.
“Uh, hey, did you wanna play or something? You don’t really look like one to play basketball, but I guess you’re pretty tall.”
Head snaps up from his contemplative thoughts. It isn’t strange that she has taken notice of him. After all, he does stand at over seven feet tall. It would be silly if she didn’t lock eyes with him. “With my height, I am certain this game would be…easy to say the least. No, I think I’ll pass. I was just curious about the technology in this city. Never have I heard about this ‘basketball’ before arriving in this strange land.”
The guy in front of her seemed somewhat archaic; however, it was probably best if she didn't judge a book by its cover. Nevertheless, he did maintain a serious aura about him. She wondered what had let him to the basketball court in the first place, but perhaps it was his curiosity that led him. One thing that was certain about the towering male was that he came from a universe that was void of basketball.
"Well, it's not all about your height, you know. You need to have good reflexes, dribbling skills, and some decent speed."
She noticed that she was rambling; however, it was would be rather amusing to see his capability in actually shooting the ball. Oftentimes the males she would play were taller than herself; however, their height was only advantageous when they are close to the basket while long distance shots were more reliant on their skill. The girl smiled at him despite the challenge she was about to offer.
"Since it's so easy, you should try making a basket from where you're standing- I'll even let you borrow my basketball! "
"There’s no skill at all — just maintaining and taking care of it daily helps. And what?!”
"That’s your real hair? Like, all of it? Holy — wow. Just wow. That’s so…cool. And oh yeah, the billboard. There’s nothing really important there. I was just job hunting is all.”
"Oh, it's nothing too special really! The people I knew back home had so many different hair colors, actually."
The thought of finding a job hadn't occurred to her; however, it was evident that the money had had been carrying on her during her arrival would soon be diminished. "Finding a job definitely seems necessary, doesn't it? Maybe we can look for one together!"
Utena
12/29 | (birthday drabble)
Slender digits curled around the handle of her umbrella as she returned to her apartment after a brief walk. While a rainy morning wasn't ideal for most to begin their birthday, she didn't mind it. Whether or not she'd experience another birthday was once questionable- how ungrateful it would be if she were to worry about weather conditions.
Cautiously, she avoided the small puddles that formed on the sidewalk; she knew that she currently lacked any spare shoes and she was unsure as to whether or not Himemiya had planned to do anything out of the ordinary for her birthday. Once again, the events of the day hardly mattered, since she had received the opportunity to spend it with the one who made her happiest. That was truly the only gift she needed.
Many citizens seemed to hold disdain for the city and desire a route to their own universes. Utena wouldn't ever outwardly say so to the citizens who felt at a loss, but she almost felt as though she had been given a second chance. Perhaps that was a selfish thought to have while others were suffering; however, being placed far away from the world that had granted her numerous burdens and separation from anyone who she has truly loved hadn't irked her in the least.
Arriving at her apartment complex, she closed her umbrella and twirled it to get rid of some excess water. Walking up the stairs, he felt a growing sense of joy that hadn't stemmed from the fact that it was her birthday, but the fact that she was given the opportunity to spend it with Himemiya. As she reached the door to her place, she opened it quietly, wearing an authentic smile.
"I'm home..!"
You awake to discover 4 or 5 presents stowed away in your abode, all of which have been boxed in pristine, vibrantly wrapped boxed adorned with bows. Some of these boxes contain: a plushie of ChuChu, a bouquet of roses, a miniature pink car, a basketball (This is not to be published or responded to until the 25th. Merry Christmas!)
Oh? These presents weren't here previously and a search for a tag seemed to be futile. Curiosity got the best of her, so she carefully untied each bow and peeled the wrapping paper for several boxes. The gifts were quite personal, each provoking individual and pleasant memories. It was all incredibly thoughtful.
Pink lips curved into a small smile; while there was currently no one there with her, she found herself whispering a content "thank you".
"I guess it's been a pretty long time since I've been to a dance of any sort..."
It wasn’t uncommon for him to spend time in the shopping-based sector—as a merchant himself, and a damned good one at that, he prided himself on the ability to turn what little money he had into a fortune. However, without merchandise to sell in the first place—he was several steps behind success.
Still, it was a bit entertaining to see how people bartered. His eyes were drawn to a particularly feminine-looking stand, miffed in the back of his mind. It seemed like he’d caught the attention of someone, though, and as antisocial as he was, he severely wanted to avoid confrontation—especially if they were female, as he surmised from their interest in that one stand.
It seemed he couldn’t help but listen, even if he had already turned away slightly. Sighing with slight resignation, he stood still for a moment, looking at the ground to avoid direct eye contact with her. He wouldn’t be able to speak otherwise.
「……I wouldn’t know. I’ve got no one like that, and I certainly don’t need that sort of thing for myself. The only advice I can give is to buy what has the best special effects, the highest stats—but those sorts of things don’t exist here. So I’ve got nothing to really answer that question of yours.」
Perhaps it was merely her imagination, but the male's way of interacting appeared quite bizarre. She realized that each person most likely had their own set of social norms that they had obtained from their own universes. This guy was either terribly uncomfortable or utilizing his learned set of social skills. Regardless, she was fully capable of maintaining a conversation without any direct eye contact.
"Stats? Sounds like something out of a video game, but..."
Her focus temporarily switched to a ring with an amethyst that appeared to be in floral shape. Rings were usually a safe choice, right? The gesture in itself seemed simultaneously simple and romantic. She faced him slightly, now harking on his statement that came before the one about stats and special effects.
"Oh, have you never been interested in someone before? Ah- sorry, that's not really my place to ask a stranger that...! But, may I ask if you're planning on getting anyone gifts this holiday?"
An inexcusable mistake had the forward motion been, one brought by a careless unobservant state of being. Whilst a collision of the sort that’d been prevented would’ve unsuccessfully rendered her frame to an irreparable form as it would’ve an ordinary citizen, preferable was it to not obtain cumbersome injuries as a tolerance to pain was not harbored. For that was this truly a cause for relief, digits pressing against the accelerated heartbeat pounding insistently within her chest as vocables made to confirm her condition.
❝I - I’m fine. Just surprised is all.❞
An understatement if there ever was one, appreciative was she of the arguably heroic deed. It was due to such that the proffered replacement of the wares was rather baffling as presenting compensation was her responsibility in order to properly convey the gratitude felt.
❝You’ve done more than I could ever thank you for. If anything, I should be treating you to something .. !❞
The girl's heartbeat reached an equilibrium after rapid beating; she could hardly imagine the response that had been provoked in the stranger. The princely female realized that she luckily averted an ordeal that could have occurred had this citizen been one of the more temperamental, dramatic ones.
Eyebrows raised slightly as lips tugged into a small smile; she waved her hands back and forth as she felt as though she didn't need a reward of any sort. Her action was merely reflexive and required no contemplation on her behalf. Despite her moderately noble personality, she managed to remain humble.
"Oh, no- I honestly don't need anything in return! Really, I just did what anyone else would do..!"
「 ♪ 」 — The weather was colder than Tiki had expected and she was not exactly dressed in the appropriate attire for the ever dropping temperature. It was about time to look into buying some warmer clothes, she thought. Cold weather had a negative impact on her, she always seemed to get chilly quicker than everyone else. To escape the cold air she entered a little cafe on a street corner, by now all the tables at the cafe had already been filled up. Taking shelter from the cold here was a common idea apparently, so she was left standing at the entrance of the establishment, trying to see if she could find any open seats.
Within a few minutes a girl with light pink hair came to her side. Her eyes were kind and Tiki was only surprised by her offer for a moment. This girl seemed like the type who would gladly help those in need.
❝It appears that there aren’t any other seats open so I think I’ll take you up on that offer. Thank you… I truly hope I’m not imposing in any way.❞
The teen with pink tresses shook her head to assure the woman that she was doing this on her own free will instead of through some sort of moral obligation. The city seemed to be filled with many interesting individuals with unique personalities and backgrounds- much more than that of her previous home.
"I was actually beginning to feel a bit bored sitting here by myself, so you got here just in time!"
The female appeared to have an interesting aura about her; however, as curious as Utena was, she had more tact then to ask someone else to simply spill the details of their life. Not to mention that she could also be over speculating a tad. Like any other regular conversation, she would begin with introductions.
"My name's Utena, by the way. What would you like for me to call you by?"
( wow hello hey i owe many replies here! i've been distracted these past couple days and i'll be a little buy tomorrow, so i'll try to get to things on sunday night maybe? thank you for being so patient! ;v; )
once upon a dream ❋ ( anthy & utena )
The girl wandered among the crowd walking nearly in tandem with one another. Some citizens fell behind, some would dart past the rest, while the others maintained a uniform pace. The girl had once accomplished something remarkable at a cost, yet she felt no remorse for her own sacrifice. While she would occasionally imagine a scenario with alternate, less tragic events that lead to the same result, she knew that it was too late to change anything- to change detrimental choices. Everything now remained in her past. Formerly having precise and clear goals in mind, they were all too unrealistic- too childish.
She graduated from this.
What was originally painted in black and white had turned gray; while acting princely had become intertwined with her personality, she had abandoned her desire to be a prince and grew from this abandonment. What troubled her was that she didn't know in which direction she was growing. The female wondered if her grand purpose in life was freeing the one she had grown to love most. She wouldn't complain about this particular reason behind her existence, but she couldn't help but ask what her next step should be.
She occupied Utena's thoughts and dreams frequently. Perhaps it wasn't progressive to allow this, but it almost seemed inevitable. This never served as a reason to mope or wallow in any sorrows, because the girl realized that her well-being should be far better off than it once was. Utena was simply grateful to have experienced happiness- true happiness.
However, this particular source of this happiness no longer existed in her life.
Pink tresses were carried by the sharp wind as she continued onward to an unknown destination. With each step she realized that she lacked a goal; she was merely walking in the crowd, stuck in a rut. She had yet to understand why or how these scientists transported her to the city, but surely there was a prominent reason. She simply couldn't figure out what this reason was quite yet.
A strong wind nearly stopped her in her tracks; long hair hindered her vision until the gust dissipated. People in a hurry shoved past the princely girl, causing shoulders to move in whichever direction they were pushed. Azure hues shifted gaze from the ground to the conglomerate of beings in front of her. Despite their differences, everyone looked the same until she received a glimpse of familiarity that looked like paradise.
The purple locks were unmistakable. Once more, she paused in her tracks, drowning out the cacophony and bodies that encased her. In disbelief, she felt her knees lock as digits trembled slightly. Pink lips parted slightly, wishing to voice out the girl's name, but astonishment had seemed to have taken her voice. Before the female could escape from her grasp, she conquered these temporary limitations as scuffed shoes quickly carried her in her chosen direction. Gently pushing aside the citizens that remained walking at a consistent pace, Utena grew closer and closer, still feeling a weight over her voice.
Reaching out her arm, she intertwined slender digits with the girl who had been facing away from her. She felt her vision grow foggy upon eye contact with the olive orbs she had been deprived of for so long. More importantly, she safe and radiating the aura that she had only received glimpses of.
"Himemiya...!"
She felt her heart race as hues turned to the ground, tears of shock and joy filling her eyes; the encounter was surreal- something she believed to be limited to her own dreams. Yet, she had been given another chance. Her grip tightened slightly as her free hand searched for Anthy's. She tilted her head upwards to look at her once more as she began stabilizing her feelings. The girl finally offered a full smile, reflective of her feelings.
"I almost believed that our last encounter would be the final time I'd ever see you, but... I'm... I'm so happy to see you here and doing well, Himemiya. It's all I could have ever asked for."
[ ♬ ]—— “Any kind of butt fits the criteria! Anyone who’d dismiss butts on the account of not being well endowed enough is a liar and shouldn’t be listened to!”
"Ah, as, uh, nice as it is to know that no one is excluded from this activity, I have to say that I think I'd prefer other sports... Any other sport, really. "

The girl had a relatively large box filled with decorations and ornaments used to embellish a Christmas tree. Her only drawback was that she lacked the space and funds to purchase a tree and it seemed to be far too late to find one that is smaller in stature. Her primary drive in finding a random tree in Sector 6 to decorate was due to Himemiya mentioning that she enjoyed viewing them. Since they couldn't have one in their apartment, she would have to come up with the next best plan.
She strategically placed each ornament on the pine tree; despite best efforts, there were some parts she wasn't capable of reaching. Nevertheless, she would make due somehow. Turning, she noted a pretty stranger. She wasn't too sure if he was simply admiring the tree or wanting to assist her.
"Oh! Did you want to help me? I still have a lot of decorations to use."
[ ♬ ]—— “You will change your mind someday! It’s the best sport ever!”
