how long does it take you to draw the comics for illi mcmillin is a freak?

when i first started i was really motivated and hyperfixated on it so it only took me a week to do each of the first 3 parts.

but now i get pretty burned out and it takes me 3 ish weeks/a month to really lock in and complete a part.

this comic is my new favorite thing ever. like i won't gush too much (i totally could go on forever) but i just love your art and writing and that panel of mikey kissing that dude in the closet was genuinely so hilarious and i just really like the comic :3

how did you get into making comics and how would you recommend for a beginner to start? i love your work so much, illi mcmillin is a freak is probably my favorite illi mcmillin thing out there

this is adorable. when i was around 8 i was really into webtoons and i started making my own oc’s n such but actually for the longest time the one thing i did NOT want to be was a comic artist. then around 14 years old i started making up my own stories and paired them with drawings. then i took a graphic novel class and a comic class in high school.

for starting… i always just observed my favorite comics whether it’s like dc comics, webtoons, fanmade comics, manga/manhua/manhwa ect and inspire myself with that.

i still struggle a lot with composing my comic pages so i stick with like a very simple 3-4 medium shot panels…. (but im still learning, thats the point)

i think observing and taking from what u love is the biggest part on starting. cuz reference and inspiration is like the core….to anything i guess. hopefully that makes sense and is ..helpful gulp
