My Vision Of Our Tumblr Replacement

I started on Tumblr soon after it was created with a vanilla blog. Since then, hardly a day has gone by that Tumblr wasn’t a part of my life. I have made excellent friends on Tumblr over the years. In fact, MOST of my friends came from relationships I made via Tumblr. The precious, bubbly cupcake that is in my bed? Tumblr. So you can imagine how painful Tumblr’s announcement has been for me.

I love seeing the marginalized communities that are shunned elsewhere on Planet Earth have a safe place to exist and be themselves. It always made me smile when I see a Tumblr blogger ease out of their shells, steadfastly into the world.

Well, that shit is no more.

As some of you may have noticed I started a community effort to rescue these communities. I want everyone involved because it will be our garden, our club, our safe space to be ourselves.

And the new site (name to be withheld until we have something to show) is not just for kinksters, I want vanillas too; artists, witches, horror writers, brewmeisters, budtenders, book sluts, fandoms of all types, beat poets, wilderness photographers, Burners, vampire hunters, Dungeons and Dragons players, and rocket scientists. Hell, I want people who just want to blog about cats and cabins in the woods.

What we won’t tolerate are bullies, minors, Nazis (and their fucked up allies), abusers or trolls. They can fuck right off to a cesspool of their choice.

I am putting up the cash to get this started PLUS I am making this a community effort, that is why I am being so transparent about the process with our Discord planning group. Yes, it is chaos. We have taken on an INSANE project to get done in less than 2 weeks. Well, 9 days now.

This isn’t my first rodeo. I am actively trying to keep my anonymity as long as I can, but I know it will soon be spugged out in due order soon. You will then see what I have done in the past and learn about a very vanilla project that has been near and dear to my heart. You have probably heard of it and maybe even participated!

The beta site will not be perfect. It will be good but not perfect. Hell, we have been suffering with “far from perfect” with Tumblr now for years. It is my hope that our community can put up with our rough edges for a little while.

Where we are tonight is pretty good. We have selected a host, got our software loaded, installed the Linux packages required and are now getting those packages to play nice with one another. We had it working for a bit until a small issue with the registration page required some elbow work.

I am working on the branding and marketing with a bunch of really smart pervs in our Discord group. I am really proud of all of our volunteers and want to thank them all.

DDLG: When DDLG first started emerging online as a relationship dynamic, it meant something different than it has largely come to be recognized as today.

What DDLG used to mean: DDLG was a subcategory of a dominant/submissive relationship and involved nuanced dom and sub roles. It involved a Daddy Dom and a Little (Girl). A Daddy Dom is a dominant who enjoys a more affectionate, authoritative role than a typical Dom. A Daddy loves to spoil his submissive. Daddies are fair, patient, loving, potentially strict, doting, disciplinary, affectionate, stern, and offer guidance to their submissive. They need to be needed, looked to for praise, guidance, and affection. Daddy Doms are the centre of the little’s world, and vice versa. A Daddy Dom wants to see his submissive succeed and watch her flourish. He creates structure and rules and helps her achieve her goals, take care of herself, and do what’s best for her. A Little Girl is a type of submissive. This type of submissive is “childlike” in that they are playful, sweet, love to tease, potentially bratty, needy, flirtatious, and reliant. They look to their Dom for everything: guidance, praise, acceptance, understanding, comfort, strength, love, structure, and affection. This type of submissive often enjoys traditionally “childlike” things; stuffed animals, cute things, treats, animals, pretty things, etc. DDLG was simply the relationship between these two types of dominants and submissives. This relationship dynamic DID NOT INVOLVE AGE PLAY OR AGE REGRESSION.

However… fast forward like ten years, and the term “DDLG” has been bastardized to now include (or, to some people, define) relationships that involve age play and age regression. That ain’t what it used to mean, but there are too many people within and outside the BDSM community that were and are misinformed, and for better or for worse DDLG has largely morphed into an entirely different thing.

What DDLG means now: A relationship dynamic that involves age play and age regression, where the “little” identifies as an age under 10, and the “Daddy Dom” or “care giver” takes care of them. There are people who claim “DDLG” or “CGL” relationships aren’t a facet of BDSM. There are people that claim “Little” means “age regressor” and DDLG has to involve baby talk, diapers, pacifiers, sippy cups, onesies and cribs. Nowadays, all of those things are practically synonymous with DDLG… BUT KNOW: it didn’t initially mean that, it’s not SUPPOSED to mean that; all of those things USED TO be separate entities existing entirely outside of a DDLG D/S dynamic.

Ten years ago I identified as a little ( I DO NOT anymore), and I’ve had daddy doms and I’ve never baby talked, used a pacifier, or worn a diaper. I’m just a cutesy, playful, bratty submissive who loves stuffed animals, pretty dresses, and gets excited about dessert. What I identify as now is just a submissive because it’s impossible to separate DDLG from what people keep reinforcing it to mean.

So, to answer your question, if you want a relationship like the former thing I described; that’s technically DDLG. If you want a relationship like the latter thing I described, that now too is DDLG, so it’s basically a mindfuck at this point. Ask your girlfriend specifically what she’s into, because for Christ’s sake, she’s your God damned girlfriend, and she should be able to be straight up with you. THEN, MAYBE you’ll have a CHANCE at discerning what EXACTLY she wants and where it fits into this cock-sucking shitshow that is what happens when kink meets the internet.
