He.. was not an affectionate kind guy at all and the little he could provide he spend them on his only living other relative in this timeline. Hugs, kisses in the cheeks were things normal people did, he was not normal not by a long mile and while yes it was mostly due to the fact he was only part human, he had some trouble showing affection mostly due to the years he earn in sufferance due to the androids. Android 18 especially liked to touch him, to let him associate touch as a sign of fear.
Trunks tried to get out of that mentally and no matter how hard he tried it came crawling back to him. But just this one time because he hated conflict with a passion, he moved and did the only logical and sensible thing, he hug her. Wrapping his strong arms around her, gathering her in his chest despite any protest from her lips and close his eyes as he lean his chin on top of her head.
“There is a reason…” he began quietly, “Why I told mom and dad to keep what i did a secret for the most part.” he took a moment to think. “I don’t want to associate myself as a hero because I did what I felt was right. Doing something that FEELS right is not the markings of a Hero Bulla… it is just trying to free the chains that were wrap around me for so many years. I wanted… freedom.” he open his eyes to scan ahead, “I wanted to be able to walk outside and not fear someone was going to come kill me, or anyone else.” he step back a bit.
“I wanted that same freedom for you guys because if I didn’t get to enjoy my own freedom then at least give another a chance to. To be free of tyranny. That’s all Bulla.. there is no great hero story, I am not someone who should be admire for doing the right thing. EVERYONE should do the right thing without being told to do so. It should be automatic, natural for people do so..” he sighed.
“This is what I wanted, to vast in that freedom. That makes me happy.” “So please.. stop saying that, I just want to be your older future big brother that’s all the title I want and need.”

Not once, this entire time, had he hugged her or patted her shoulder or anything physical. So, when he finally pulled her in for a hug, she was a bit concerned. Only at first. It only took less than a second for her to return affection and wrap her arms around him. There was actually a small urge to start crying, but she didn’t know which emotion was causing it. She was happy that he was hugging her because it meant that he didn’t hate her. That he cared about her. But she also felt ashamed of her behavior. Today was just an awful day up to this point. Bulla wasn’t much for affection, herself. In fact, the only thing sweet that she did was the habit of always saying ‘I love you’ when she or one of her loved ones were leaving. Even if she was mad at them. Still, too much affection was often avoided by her. It could make her uncomfortable, it timed wrong. But this hug was much needed and she closed her eyes while he spoke, just appreciating her big brother’s embrace. “I was always taught that doing the right thing was honorable. Not everyone does the right thing. Some people are selfish. You aren’t selfish; you’re honorable. I won’t call you a hero, but you can’t stop me from seeing your as someone to look up to.”
