ive come to terms with being trans, after a long time of feeling this way but wanting to suppress it and i've told my mother, i thought she would support me. but she keeps purposefully misgendering me, she refers to me as her son, she uses my birth name and the wrong pronouns and she's talked to her friends about how i'm going through a "girly phase". i understand that this must be hard for her, and maybe even confusing, but every time she does it i feel like dying inside and i need her to stop

I went through something similar with my mom. I sat down with her alone and explained that I was not going through a phase and that it hurt me every time she misgendered me. I also called her out after that like she would refer to me as she and I would say "its they mom" and if she would say its hard on her I would say "well imagine how I feel".

A lot of parents don't quite understand gender in the way we do. Instead of suffering in silence we must make our parents understand because she probably doesn't even know she's hurting you, you must make your feelings clear so that she can start changing her behavior.

It's also important that we acknowledge when our parents do start using our pronouns and such. When my mom uses They I always smile and maybe squeeze her arm so she knows that Yes that was a Good Thing keep it up.I hope this helps and if you need anymore advice I'm here #misgendering
