Aaron Le'Mer | Arista | 23 | Daniel Sharman | Taken
"I don't care what I have to lose. Don't you get it? I'd give up anything to be with my brother again. This? It's barely a price."
Aaron was always known as the quiet twin. It wasn’t that he was necessarily a wallflower, when when you were competing for attention against six other brothers, and you were inextricably tied to Ariel, it was hard to get a lot of attention. Still, it was Aaron and Ariel. It always had been, and it always would be. As far as all of his brothers were concerned, Aaron was glad he had a twin. Being neither the youngest nor the oldest in such a large brood meant it was easy to get lost in the shuffle, but while Ariel used that to his advantage to sneak away from adventures, Aaron was far more likely to sneak away to explore the palace by himself. Out of the seven brothers, Aaron had always been most starved for affection, and when their mother died, Aaron took the loss harder than most expected him to. He was the quiet brother, the soft-spoken one, the brother who anyone could go to to speak. A well-loved prince though he rarely made appearances, the kingdom still felt it when Aaron retreated even further into himself. After their mother’s death, Aaron became even quieter than he had been, rarely leaving the palace grounds for any reason. The only people he spoke to anymore were his brothers, leaning on them heavily for all the social and emotional stability he needed, deciding the and there that he didn’t need anyone else. More people in his life simply meant more people who he could lose.
Don't you see? He's in love.
When Ariel left, at first the kingdom thought something awful had happened to him, and for Aaron, his greatest fears began coming true right in front of his eyes. Not only had he lost another integral piece of his family, he had lost his twin. Ariel was as much a part of him as his leg, or his heart, or his eyes. And the family mourned the loss of their prince, as well as all the kingdom. With the seeming death of one of the youngest princes, it felt as though some of the light had been taken from Atlantica, and as far as Aaron was concerned, his life was done. But when Sabrina, the brothers’ music instructor, hinted that Ariel was alive and on land, Aaron concocted a plan. To say that his brothers were surprised that Aaron came to them asking them to go with him to their sea-witch cousin, Ustin, to barter for his own humanity would be an understatement. He didn’t know if he was going to bring his brother back, or simply to be there with him, but he traded his sight for a pair of legs to follow his twin onto land. Knowing he only had six months to find his brother and bring him home or he would be sent back to the sea lest he find his own true love, Aaron knows that the clock is ticking. However, unlike his brother’s own deal, Aaron knows that whether he returns to the sea or now, whether he finds love or not, he will never see again. Unlike Ariel’s deal for his own set of legs, Aaron’s trade with his cousin was permanent.
