Smash. I MEAN-
"Smash? Was something broken? i think I saw some glue in one of the rooms, I can help mend it for you, if you'd wish."
He... doesn't know these things. Don't tell him, he'll probably just get freaked out by it. The manor does enough of that already.
please adopt me i need an actually stable father figure /j
(not sorry 😏)
"Well, I suppose that depends on what you mean by stable! If you mean mentally, I'm doing quite well! If you mean financially... Well, that's why I'm here! I don't think I'd be a very good sole guardian, but I'd be more than happy to be your teacher and your friend."
R u single
"Oh, well I'm flattered, really! And I suppose I am, but I'm not sure I'm all too interested in a relationship when I'm married to my work, in a sense! Besides, I think I'm far too old for you, please set your sights a little higher than me! I believe in you."
Could you be my dad if I were in the market for one?
“In… the market? I’m sorry, I’m not sure I understand what you mean by that. If you’re asking for someone to teach you I’d be more than happy, though.”
Are you my dad?
"Oh, goodness! I don't think I am, however if I am, I apologize for spending so much time without knowing I had a child..."
Do you shine your head with like shoe polish or something?
"No? I simply shave my head like normal, although not much hair grows there anyway. I just take care of the patch here and there."
“…”
There’s a small child staring at Roba from around the corner, light blue hair and green eyes.
“Uhm… are you the new educator everyone’s talking about…?”
( @the-oletus-parlor Jane Doe be upon you!/lh )
"Hm? Oh yes, hello there young one! That would be me, yes. My name is Mr. Awol. It's lovely to meet you, have you been searching for me?"
@the-oletus-parlor
“…uhm…”
The small child stepped out into full view, holding a small red notebook nervously.
“…they said you’re really good with math and English and stuff…”
"Why yes! Those two subjects are my specialty in particular, although I am trained as a general educator in other subjects."
*He smiles gently and kneels down to get on eye level with the child.*
"I would be more than happy to assist you with anything you're looking for. May I ask your name?"
The small girl wandered into the room after Brendan dropped her off to the new survivor. She didn't really look around because, well, she can't see to begin with. But she still peeked her head around the corner
"Hello? Is anyone there?"
@idv-wayward
"Ah, hello there. You're Mi, I assume? It's wonderful to meet you!"
*He gave off a gentle, warm smile. Even if she couldn't see it, a smile like that could be felt.*
"My name is Mr. Awol, I'm a teacher from Africa. Your guardian has told me about you, and I'm quite excited to help you. May I assist you in getting a seat?"
"Oh... Yeah, that's me. Mi, with an I! It's nice to meet you too Mr. Awol!"
She smiled back at him and stepped a bit closer to him, reaching her hand out to him after waving.
"Oh, you met Brendan already? And yes please!"
"Oh, wonderful! I'm glad you're approaching this with a good attitude, that's often a step that takes time to overcome for some children. Here, I'm going to lead you by the hand, ok? So don't be startled."
*With a gentle lead, he helped Mi to her seat, pulling it out for her as he sat across from her at the table he'd prepared.*
"Now, before we begin with anything academic, I'd love to learn more about you. Not just as a student, but a human being. After all, children are just people but smaller!"
"Okay!"
She kind of needed something like this. She did miss having some semblance of normalcy here, like going to school. It's not that traditional but at least the teacher is nice so far! She gave him a little "thank you!" As she sat across from him.
"Alright! I'm 12 years old, I have two older siblings, and a pet dog! I was taught how to sing and I like... uh, I don't know what the name is but I like the kinds of songs that are like classic music but not really!"
"Oh that's wonderful! I understand how it feels to be the youngest sibling, I have two older sisters and one older brother as well. And I just love dogs, although I've never been able to have one of my own due to the traveling I've been doing."
*He smiles and chuckles to himself a bit, before taking a drink of water.*
"I brought a glass of water for you as well, it's on your left on the table. And don't worry, it has a lid, just in case. Now, if you don't mind me asking, what's your family like?"
"Oh wow, you have three older siblings! That's so cool! And I love dogs too! Mine goes boof instead of bark, he's a big fluffy dog!"
She reached her hand out to the glass, careful to not knock it over as she went for a sip.
"Oh my family's great! My sister's away in college but she's really cool! She wants to be a scientist! My brother still lives with us but he's cool too! He plays with me but he stays in his room a lot. Mom said he's on the computer too much but I know he still cares about me! My parents scare people a lot. They get mad when someone talks about my eyes but they're really nice people! I go shopping with them a lot!"
"Oh how wonderful! And I must say, you have a wonderful way of descriptive speaking! You have an ability to very easily paint a picture in my mind as you talk, which is a fantastic skill to have. Both in life and as a student!"
*He smiled warmly, nodding his head as he jotted down a few notes. He was a very skilled note taker.*
"Your sister wants to pursue a career in science? That's a very admirable goal! And your brother works with... computers? I've heard of the computer during my studies, he must be a scientist as well, yes?"
“…”

why are you bald
“Haha, you sound like one of my students! Well, when I started getting into my 40s I noticed that my hair was starting to thin quite a bit, and I really didn’t like the feel of it. So, I shaved it! If my hair is going to fall out anyways, then I want it to me on my own terms, take back that control over my own body.”
The child's name is Mi and she lives outside of the manor with her current caretaker Brendan! They come and visit though, until they can go back to their own timelines!
“I’m not sure what a timeline is but thank you for letting me know! I’ll try to contact her caretaker to see if she’d like to meet with me then!”
Do you know how to teach a blind child? Would you like to teach a blind child?…. the manor had a blind child.
"Oh! Well yes, I'm literate in braille if that helps! I have a blind student back home, so it should be fine for me! I'd love to meet them, but only if they're ok with that too."
What drove you to come to the manor?
“What I’d assume most people came here for, money. It’s a shame it’s difficult to do much without it, but if I want to educate as many as I can, I certainly need the funds to do so. And investors aren’t very generous to, what they call, ‘random African farmers’. If I didn’t believe in a peaceful way of living, I believe I would’ve had more than a few words with them…”
