   Perhaps, for this moment, it was best that he wasn’t don in Freiturnier; as he pulled his friend into a crushing hug, robbed of any words he had choked up before.

   ❝It… It really is you…❞

   Chung hesitantly pulled back. The swirling emotions of elate were soon replaced with concern. It was a relief to see that Elsword wasn’t hurt, physically, at least; but he knew the boy was carrying a heavy weight on his platter. Chung would inquire about back then, about Elrios and his decision, however—he chose not to pile onto the increasing burden.    

   ❝What are you doing out here? I’m sure the academy had mentioned something about it being dangerous at dark…❞ Words trailed off at the end as his eyes turned to peek behind the knight, staying on guard despite the joyous reunion.

   He wouldn’t doubt the red-haired, but he wouldn’t trust the spikes of recklessness in the other either. So, naturally - as the gang was usually -, Chung was skeptical of what excuse Elsword could produce.

“Yep yep! It’s me--agh!” In truth, the hug was less of a surprise than its tightness. God, he really underestimated how strong Chung actually is. Elsword awkwardly tried to reciprocate by wrapping his arms around the boy’s shoulder and lightly patted that mop of soft hair. Especially now, it felt nice to be able to touch a dear friend and assure their corporeality. 

That’s right. In the end, everything will be okay. 

“Just taking a walk,” Elsword answered truthfully, not finding the need to be dishonest toward someone genuinely caring like Chung. His arms still hadn’t left the younger boy’s shoulders, even if it’s getting a bit harder to breathe. “And that should be my question, actually. Most people don’t tend to walk around this forest at night.” Which is precisely the reason why Elsword does so when he needs some time for self-reflection. While he doesn’t doubt Chung’s ability to properly defend himself, it’s still fairly surprising to find a worrywart like the other boy doing something that can be considered impulsive.

“Am I rubbing off on you?” He continued with a teasing chuckle, the cheerful sound coming out of his throat naturally for the first time in weeks.

I didn’t think they would actively hurt me when you seem to have total control over them at all times.” He yelped while hiding the burn on his hand that was caused by the dynamos’ electricity by furtively covering it in his pants pocket. Ow, that really stings, but it is his own fault for touching one of them without Add’s notice, after all. However, can you blame him? They actually look quite sleek… Whatever, it wouldn’t be nice to make a big deal out of the wound the older boy wasn’t responsible for (though he doubts Add would really care whether Elsword got hurt or not.)

“Oh…Thank-” He halts his reply when that sentence fully sets in; those seemingly airy syllables carry so much weight that they’re obtruding his windpipe and making it harder to breathe. Knowing Ain, he probably is just praising his combat skills instead of something more inborn-the young knight knows the priest isn’t always too skilled with words, but still…Elsword can’t stop the red from spreading on his ears and his cheeks stretching so wide that they almost hurt. He turns his head sideway and avoids the man’s gaze to mitigate the embarrassment, but it’s not too successful.

“Uh-Umm…I think you’re amazing too, Ain!” Amazing enough to provide those words of affirmation in his importance, in the necessity of his strength when he needs them most. It’s good to be told once in a while that he’s appreciated outside the context of what he killed on the battlefield, outside the numbers of the people in a town he could save.

I am still working on what limitations I have, usually I can keep them under control but it seems like I offered up a bit too much for the summon.” Fiddling with the bandages on his arms, Vaenara sighed. To think, that he had to rely on a swordsman to help him defeat one of his own creations.

It doesn’t take long for the monster to be sliced into halves; he has faced many more grotesque and powerful beings before in Elrios. With the summon dead, Elsword now gets the proper chance to lay eyes on the other boy’s injuries, starting from the conspicuous bandaged arm the summoner’s fiddling with.

“Wait...You mean you actually hurt yourself this much for the summon?... Well, first of all, I think you should get those properly treated in the infirmary quickly.” It doesn’t take long for Elsword to recognize that the wounds have been dressed by makeshift self-bandaging, considering he’s also guilty of this after many battles in Elrios. His hand slightly pushes the other’s shoulder to the direction of the academy building, urging him to move swiftly, while Elsword’s brain keeps zooming in on the other’s words earlier. What the hell? This is why he doesn’t want to have anything to do with magic- these kinda obscure shits scare him sometimes.

“Hmm…But I think your skin doesn’t look too good these days.” He hopes he remembers the El Party girls’ discussion about how sleep affects their cosmetic health properly, or else the teasing would have fallen embarrassingly apart. Elsword actually notices almost no difference on Aisha’s features to be honest, maybe besides some light purple crescents under her eyes, but hell yeah he will take any chance to fluster the high-and-mighty magician. This is probably one of the rare times in life he appreciates how much girls care for their appearances. Not that Elsword would reveal to her that his sleep schedule’s screwed up too; these classes are getting harder everyday.

 And there he was - the main attraction, Elsword himself. She had known that if Add was here, then others were undoubtedly going to show up, but the academy had even scooped him up? Knowing his misadventures with Alchemy when he called himself a Sword Knight (which was still the most stating-the-obvious name she could think of), she had no doubts that he was somehow linked to them getting here!

 “Elsword!” With a quick Teleport spell, she popped in front of him, gently batting the top of his head with her staff (considering it was the only part of her that could even reach his head.) “I bet you have something to do with us getting stuck here, right!? What was it, were you being a guinea pig for Eve again, or something? Only you could mess up enough to bring us somewhere this far off!”

 “… Even if it is kind of interesting. Just from a magical standpoint, though!”

In truth, he should have expected something as astonishing as this would occur at any moment after having the chance to reunite with Ain and Chung in some of the most surprising settings. But still, his heart stuttered when her figure appeared before him in a blink, then it pumped strongly with vigor and relief. The familiarity of her bossy tone was soothing, and Elsword could feel the weight on his mind lessened. He felt like he can never thank the heavens enough for his friends’ safety.

The bop of the magical instrument on his head barely registered, he let slipped a smile before setting his face into one that he hoped conveyed enough annoyance. No matter what, Elsword cannot let Aisha gains an advantage over him-it’s one of those stubborn, ingrained behaviors which fostered their relationship.

“That’s the first thing you gotta say after reuniting with a comrade?” Of course it was-this girl wouldn’t be Aisha otherwise if she isn’t always equipped with sniping comments directed at him. It’s aggravating at times, but he cannot deny there’s something endearing hiding behind her teasings, her silent acknowledgment that after all, they can be juvenile children who are still able to butt heads over stupid things for a while longer.

“Hey, there’s no way I can attempt anything the Great Magical Aisha can’t do, right? After all, I can only whack things with a sword, since my magic is sooo bad. ” Elsword raised his voice near the end in a mocking impersonation for the retort, but the boy’s tone is light and lacking of actual malice. He secretly wished to be magically-inclined enough to figure out what the hell is going on with this weird magic school’s inter-dimensional teleportation thingie, though. This place still gave him somewhat of the creeps, and the faster he and his friends could get out of here, the better.

   While ambling aimlessly around the outskirts of the academy, he had hoped to seek some sort of refuge, away from the dinner-time ruckus at the great hall. 

   The strange, yet unique landscape reminded him of Atlas. Albeit, the formation is somewhat campy and, if it was even possible, much bizarre in comparison to the former. At the very least, it was nostalgic for him, even if some memories only brought woe. 

   Clutching his destroyer in one hand, Chung was not ignorant of the dangers lurking by the school’s vicinity. He overheard that some students were ambushed; so as a safety precaution, he could never leave his one and only behind. Never. Ever. Unless he was told to, much to his chagrin, but he played the good noodle. The guardian was blissfully unaware of the time lost, although his thoughts were tugged back when he heard a rustle by the distant bushes. An enemy already?!

   He promptly readied his stance, knuckles close to turning white as snow as his steps threatened closer to the direction of said ‘enemy’. Chung braced for an assault, yet, it never came. Instead, in his field of view he recognized a whisk of a much too familiar red hair patrolling the area. No… It can’t be—! He knows he sorely misses them - his team -, but this deception was terribly unfair. Except, when he crept closer, it really wasn’t a delusion. 

   Chung nearly tripped over his own two feet when he began bolting, his weapon was not of help either, but it all didn’t matter. Because all that mattered was…

He was anxious.

The troublesome feeling struck his heart hard in one of those rare nights that Dueling Society canceled its club activity. Not having any event driving his body to move made it impossible to stay still, ironically enough. Thoughts kept flitting into his brain at a speed he hated, inviting fearful what-ifs and antsy speculations of his friends’ whereabouts, of Elrios’ current state without him being its supporting pillar. He doesn’t have time to screw around in a school, doesn’t have time to learn magic, and should not be having fun when he is technically abandoning his home world in an unknown future. This really isn’t, isn’t right, but what should he do? What can he do?

Then again, Elsword has never been the deep-thinking sort, so he moved. 

You can be so impulsive, his friends have criticized hundreds of times out of worry, and he couldn’t deny their truth when his body exhibited its painful memory as small scars. Perhaps taking a small walk to calm down first would be a good start. Betraying his stormy heart, the sky was calm, with stars glistening all over the black space. No matter how beautiful the outskirt of this academy was at night, Elsword couldn’t help but feel cautious of its unknowns. One gloved hand resting on the hilt of his claymore, the boy started off his walk with a slow pace, then halted when he saw a flash of something large and devastatingly familiar in the distance. That canon…There’s no mistaking its shape when Elsword has spent two years watching the weapon wiping out hordes of enemies, its power as reassuring as its wielder.

“Chung?” And there he is, a long flock of blond hair framing the delicate face which masks a deathly aptitude in the battlefield. Elsword’s heart couldn’t help but sang; Chung is the youngest friend he treasured greatly in their party, with his sweet and soft-spoken nature inviting a small sense of protectiveness in the knight, even if he fully knows the paladin is far past the point of needing it.

“I’m so glad you’re here too!” After all, seeing another friend safe strikes off one more thing in his list of worries. Hand on sword lapsed, he dashed toward the taller boy, wanting to shorten their distance as soon as possible.

“Is it?” He asks, more out of reflex than actual surprise. Many people have commented on his transparency, which Elsword considers to be more of a positive than detriment. According to their words, isn’t that what makes others believe in him? If he has to be labeled as a fool to gain his friends’ trust, then so be it.

“I guess I need more time to take in all of this, you know?” His insecurity spews out without pause-a sign of safety around her presence, as if she’s truly his Elesis. Elsword garners both peace and guilt from the revelation. Peace from the two girls’ similar dispositions, and guilt from his desire to substitute her tenderness with the sister’s he has left behind and failed to protect.

“Haha...Being called a Lord Knight, a Savior, and now being placed in this weird school…There’re a lot of things to doubt.” Elsword grants her a small laugh to mask his anxiety, not yet ready to show the brunt of his despondence. No matter which version of Big Sis stands before him, he always feels so small, so weak in comparison-his achievements and feelings fading into the shadows amidst the bright spotlight incarnate. But…Why is his chest hurting? Isn’t that how it’s supposed to be? Elesis is the sun, and he will always be the sunflower feeding on her light.
