Dietrich only hummed in thought as he took a sip from his own drink. “Seeing as though our countries are attempting to make nice with one another, I thought I would make treaties of my own.” he mused.
“Hmm,” a soft hum escaped Frederik’s lips. “I can appreciate that. Tell me, how is that working out for you thus far?”

“That should be the only reason we’re here.” Lorcan said sternly. “This ceasefire is important to me. It should be to you too.” The King lifted his head, blue eyes narrowing. “-Though i can tell you clearly have other very important things to be worried about…Like Wine…and Gossiping like an old fish wife.” Lorcan then pegged him with a hard look, his jaw setting into a painfully tight looking line. “Careful…” he warned “-Best start rethinking the wording of some of those snide wee’ comments there before they get you into trouble.”
“It certainly is important to me. Spending all that money on a war that will never end is not how I would like to continue. That has been done plenty of times before, but as you know, my brother-dearest is the King. I am simply here to rekindle with friends and drink the French’s wine.” Frederik had informants in the court, who would tell him anything important he missed. “Please, I have heard that comment many times before. My brother calls me Frederik Hendrik ‘problemen’ Hoensbroeck.” He snapped his fingers for a servant to refill his glass of wine and gestured to him. “You should have a drink. Makes you a lot more tolerable to be around.”

The duchess raised her dark brow ever so lightly as the so called prince made sure to leave a most interesting first impression with his first words. Every sentence lacking of any form of chevilary and class, in her own humble opinion. Something the royal ladies at court would be punished for, and this man could appearantly seem to get away with. “Ah of course. Your highness clearly has far more important matters to attend than any formalities, or even the slightest bit of small talk. Please, I shall no longer keep you from your duties elsewhere. I am quite certain I am not by far important enough to take up any of your time”
As he was known back home, he was the party prince. Though he kept up to date with all the new developments, he rarely showed the public nor his family what he was up to. He educated himself yet never made it a secret that he enjoyed the drink and many mind-boggling medicines. “I would not say that too quickly. A beautiful woman like yourself is always worth my time –– if she manages to hold a steady conversation.”

stifling any response to his words, whether it be a roll of the eyes or a curt comment, the queen instead simply said “that was not what i was primarily interested in. how did willem appear when you left? he was in good spirits when i saw him last.” her son was her priority. the prince standing in front of her was often little more than an annoyance. “but if you consider conversing with me a waste of time, i will gladly find more meaningful conversation elsewhere.”
his nephew, however adorable he may be, was perhaps the person he hated most. when it had just been his brother and his wife, acclaiming the throne one day was possible. now, with the child there –– it was just another hurdle on the way there. “the little nietsnut was doing fine. cheerful as ever,” he told her with a sigh before shrugging. “do you deem your own communicative skills so lowly? good quality for a queen.”

“There is nothing wrong on showing how proud you are of your country, I know I like to do that about mine.” When it came down to it her country and the well being of it was her first priority. “I can’t blame you then. No, I arrived just recently as well.”
“I have to admit that my brother is not completely ruining it. I had expected him to mess up within the first few fortnights, but I was mistaken.” Sadly. He wished he would have had something to complain about, since that was one of his favourite pastimes. “All settled in?”

“Well that’s true, the french do love to show off a lot. They can get quite offended if you don’t marvel at every little thing.” She chuckled, she liked the french and the court but couldn’t deny they were a bit much. “Other parties to attend?”
“They do. But then again, they have much to be proud of.” Though the Kingdom of the Netherlands was bigger than it had ever been before, it was still often disregarded as something lesser because of how little their riches were. Their economy was thriving, however –– it was bound to change sometime soon. “Precisely that. How about yourself? How long has the beauty that is you been at the French court?”

Lorcan grunted gently under his breath, casting his eyes over Frederik. “I won’t be.” he said firmly. “Money can be put to better things than clothes…particularly French clothes.” Lorcan said. “-While i agree with you…unfortunately-” Lorcan exhaled a sharp breath through the nose. “I can’t say that wearing a new cloak with Golden pins will make me a better King.”
“Really? Is that not why we are all here? To enjoy the French hospitality, gossip, drink their wine and.. oh yes, the whole cease fire thing,” he dismissed. Although he was perfectly aware of the political arrangements made, he tended to dismiss it as if it were nothing. He might be aware, yet not interested. “Perhaps looking like a proper king will give you the confidence to be one.”

“I have to give it to the french they do know how to make impressive things, when they want.” The castle in Switzerland had also a very big gorgeous garden but she would admit the french one was slightly better “Frederik.” She smiled. “Have you been in court for a long time?”
“When do they not want to impress?” he countered, a humourless laugh escaping his lips. Compared to many of the smaller countries, the French were certainly known for the extravagance. “Not at all. I arrived only just. I had better things to do than attend a ball.”

The Irishmans eyes flickered to the hand on his shoulder. He allowed it to linger for a very brief moment before shrugging it away and tugging, one again, at the end of his doublet. “Frederik.” came the others reply. Short and Blunt. Laced with disgust. Lorcan towered over most other people and Frederik was no exception. The King raised his head, watching the other man from the great height he stood at. “I’d forgotten how rude ye’ were-” Lorcan smirked “-and i don’t have time for it. Not today. Run along now, before yer’ wet nurse finds you under my feet.”
Threats like those were meaningless to him. Both because he was not easily intimidated and because pain was not something that he feared. Although he had not fought, he had seen battle. “Rude?” Frederik commented, his head cocking to the side in amusement. “But no, that was not meant rudely. I’m simply implying that you might make use of the French tailors. Despite where one comes from, it’s important to look the part of King, yes?”

Though the journey from ‘s-Gravenhage to Paris was of reasonable length, Frederik had taken his sweet time. He had taken many stops and though most people were honoured to be visited by their prince, he did not do it for them. Although his interests lay with things as partying, he did not rush to make it in time for the ball. He guessed there would be more and he tended to enjoy the less formal parties over the forced formalities and awkward dances. So there he was –– a glass of wine in hand, making his way through the drawing room after dinner. “Before you start, no, I am not tired from my journey, nor did I have a proper reason to not attend the ball. If those were the only pleasantries you were interested in, I’d rather not waste my time.”

He had never been to Paris before. He and his men had often laughed at the French, their fancy gilded halls and tables made out of solid Gold. Lorcan was adamant he, nor his court, would ever stoop so low as to spend as lavishly as the French did. Yet when he stepped into the great hall he was overcome by the sight of it. High and bright as a summers day, the walls were covered in paintings and golden leaves. The People, dressed impeccably and eyeing him like he was no more a thief than a King. Lorcan cleared his throat gently and tugged on the end of his faded Green doublet, trying to tidying himself somewhat. He had a feeling he wasn’t going to like France much.
Frederik cared little for the feelings of others. He cared even less for the way he was supposed to act to those who stood above him. Though his brother or sister-in-law might come to give him a lecture if he once again insulted one of their allies, it wasn’t as if people didn’t know about Frederik’s crude behaviour. Upon noticing the obviously uncomfortable king, the corners of his mouth tugged upwards into a nearly malicious smirk. “Oh, Lorcan,” he tutted, putting his hand on the other’s shoulder. “Don’t worry. You may look like a plebeian, but I’m certain most, no, some people will know who you really are. No need to act like one and confuse them even further.”

♔ Nina had been to Paris before, truthfully it was one of the courts she liked most, below her own of course. Still she already missed her home, but she didn’t show it, nostalgia was something she would only allow herself to feel when she was alone in her chambers so she smiled and walked through the corridors of the castle as if it was her own, until she reached the gardens. “Lovely.”
There were many things said about prince Frederik. Including how he spent much time at foreign courts. Paris was one of his favourites. The way they dared to display their riches was something he admired. The Netherlands was not a terribly rich country, though the economy was thriving. “It is, isn’t it? The symmetry will always astound me. Nina,” he greeted her.

QUEEN ROSZA let out a giggle as she ran around the gardens, her ladies doing their best to catch her. she didn’t care if it was proper for her to run about like a child, she was a queen — she could so as she pleased now without being scolded by governesses and tutors. ❛ i thought you’d be quicker than that, agnes, ❜ she shouted, laughing as the lady mentioned pressed her efforts. she went around a rose bush, her face flushed with joy, when she was soon letting out a scream as she slipped in a patch of wet grass, landing on her back. she groaned, clutching blades of grass between her fingers. ❛ i hope no one saw that, ❜ she said to herself, reaching her hand up to hold her head.
frederik was not above laughing at someone else’s expense. in fact, when it happened to those held most in regard, it amused him even more. though it was only early in the day, he was already enjoying a nice glass of benedictine. he put the glass down on a pedestal before slowly clapping to announce his presence. “very charming.” though his words weren’t necessarily mean-spirited, the tone implicated he was mocking her.
