Random Joker 2 headcanons :P
(Warning; sliiiightly NSFW, but nothing too crazy.)
ARTHUR FLECK/THE JOKER;
Arthur is SUCH an eavesdropper and people watcher while he’s in Arkham. He has literally nothing else to do all day, so he just sits with other inmates (in complete silence) and listens to them talk. (They don’t think he’s listening but he IS.) He knows everything about all his fellow inmates, and he’s pretty good friends with most of them.
Initially when he was admitted to Arkham, Arthur was very loud and outspoken, trying to ‘make friends’ with the guards by telling them horrible jokes that he thought were the funniest things in the world. This is why the guards ask him if he has a joke for them, but he’s realized that they don’t actually care so he just doesn’t talk.
Arthur’s favorite part of his day is watching Looney Toons with the other inmates, and his favorite character is Bugs Bunny.
He sees Ricky as his best friend, since they don’t need to talk very much when they’re around each other, just sitting in comfortable silence.
After Arthur met Lee, he would yap about her EXCESSIVELY during meals and yard time. The other inmates are super happy for him, because he’s never had a girlfriend before, and ask him all sorts of questions about her.
Arthur has a serious thing for being praised. Especially when Lee does it, being called a good boy or being told that he’s doing a good job makes him feel appreciated and loved. (He’s also a switch. When he’s confident as Joker, he can do whatever he wants, but when he’s Arthur he just wants somebody to love him.)
LEE QUINZEL;
Lee is a huge musical theatre kid, she did plays and stuff as a child and early teenager, but stopped after she lost her voice. She loves all things theatrical, and has a habit of dancing and singing to herself while doing every day things like walking, doing the dishes, etc.
When she first saw Arthur on the Murray Franklin show, she thought he was REALLY hot. Even when she saw his video from Pogo’s comedy club, she thought he was incredibly attractive.
Lee was psychologically abused by her parents, but she never realized it due to the fact that she never got professional help or therapy. This makes her personality adapt to crave the attention of others, and be recognized for doing something great.
She genuinely loves Arthur more than anything, but her need to be known as The Joker’s girl and the idea of being famous overshadows this sometimes. Her desire to be loved by him makes her try to make herself seem sexually appealing, even though Arthur doesn’t care.
Lee loves watching old movie musicals, and her favorite one is Sweet Charity (1969)
RICKY MELINE;
He genuinely was in love with Arthur, long before Arthur kissed him in the prison yard. Not only does he look up to him, but he genuinely adores and has such a deep admiration for Arthur, even though he knows that it’s never going to happen.
He’s in Arkham due to him killing his father on accident, while defending his mother from his abuse. The fact that he has a mental disability got him locked up in E-ward.
Ricky is the one that did Arthur’s makeup before court after he fired his lawyer, and they kissed while Arthur was feeling confident. Ricky enjoyed it way more than he expected.
Arthur’s resilience and resistance against the guards inspires Ricky a lot, and it makes him admire him even more.
