2019
A passing moment.
Another second, another minute.
Amounting.
Another day, another year.
Prevailing.
My soul was born whole but society made me feel like I had to lose a pebble's worth each and every day of my life -- simply to be socially acceptable.

Mesut Ozil - A Comment on Ethnicity & Discrimination.
It is a pity when you are incredulously discriminated due to your ethnicity. In the particular case that led me to writing this had included political propaganda with the use of a photo.
Ozil is claiming discrimination against him for being of Turkish descent by his home country, mostly by DFB President and the Media for being heavily political and critical over his actions. Obviously, the Media played a huge role in swaying the sentiments of the general public. In his lengthy statement, he went on the make his point over who he is as a person, as a footballer and how he (has always) identified himself amidst the tirade caused by the photo.
A couple of years ago, I wrote an essay about heritage & the identity crisis that someone of mixed heritage may face but most, will overcome. I did also mention about how society shapes us as individuals or the society at-large and how it is important for people to understand the differences between ethnicity and nationality. Do not get me started on religion. Not today, not just yet.
For someone, being a particular or many ethnicities, is in their blood but not in their nationality. Just because they identify with the different ethnicities that make up their DNA or whose culture shaped part of their morals, does that make them any less to society?
Society is selective and growingly insensitive.
I have had my fair share of experiences but nowhere near as grave & public as Ozil’s. In my essay I have covered how I had behaved so I will not repeat myself here.
In any case, I am often stupefied at how backwards we can be when it comes to racism and stereotyping others.
To the naysayers & haters, “Fuck you!”
Stop the stigma, stop the stereotyping and let’s all stop being stupid.

Don't take too long to say "hello", "how are you?", "thank you", "I'm sorry" and "I love you".

I betrayed my confidence in thinking I could keep it together. I think we all, in our own way, struggle to keep up with the reality that no one or life lives forever and in perfect health.

A cure is not something we are looking for nor for any semblance of normality but for his comfort for as long more as he shall live.

I don't think you love him. Well, maybe you did. Now, it seems to me you are simply infatuated by the idea of being with him.

Michelle is actually funnier than me. Mainly because she teases me, but I can’t tease her. (I think that’s fair.) I can’t say anything about her because she gets mad. (Nope, you can’t.) So I guess she’s funnier.

Every child searches for a hero, a role model to look up to. For me, it was my mother. She was everything I wanted to be — strong…
