75-300mm

Got a new lens today. It's M.Zuiko 75-300mm f/4.8-6.7 ED II. It's absolutely amazing.

75-300mm on micro 4/3 is equivalent to full frame's 150-600mm which makes that little thing a proper telephoto lens. Can't wait to take it for a longer shoot.

Painting

Spent the day painting ceiling at my fiancée's mother's flat. Definitely more productive than sitting at home doing nothing.

Feels really weird not to post photos every day. The were few days I haven't even taken a single photo. Weird.

I'm thinking of setting up a separate tumblr with just the best photos I took. Like a portfolio.

Enter

Here's an idea for a new challenge. Take a photo every day at a particular hour. No matter what I do. Let's say 9.09 PM.

I've seen someone do that before, but can't recall now. I think that guy was taking photo at 9 AM.

Bike

An old, rusty bike. But still works. And look at that modified seat. I think this is one of our neighbour's.

I guess this was one of the very last summer weekends. It's get more chilly everyday.

Fibi

Have you noticed, it's been over a month since the last Fibi photo? Is that a new record?

She's alive and feeling great. Still looks like a sweet little puppy. Getting better and better at begging.

Chair

This was supposed to be a selfportrait, but believe me, it looks better without me.

Privat.ly blog needs a change. I should start taking more pictures of people. More portraits. More candid shots.

365

Well, I guess that's it. I made it. My photo-a-day project is complete. This is the photo no. 365. I managed to survive a full year of taking daily photos without a single day missed.

I don't want to brag about it but it does make me proud. A lot. I've seen couple of projects like mine abandoned after just couple of weeks.

I took around 15,000 photos this last 12 months. Most of them went straight to trash. Oh god, I took some really bad photos. But I also took few good ones. And a couple of great ones.

I'll probably write a longer article on what I learned. I'll post it to medium.com. Follow me on Twitter to get notified.

What I'd like to say now is thank you. Thank you guys for visiting this blog. Thanks for liking and reblogging some of the stuff. This really kept me motivated.

Thanks to all my friends for putting up with my "I need to take a photo" shit. I know this was more than annyoing sometimes.

I'd like to thank my camera. Or cameras, should I say. My Canon 50D, Canon 7D and Olympus OM-D E-M5. And also, the lenses. Canon 50mm, Sigma 24-70mm and Olympus 17mm. A solid piece of equipment. This may sound weird but we all became close friends over those last months.

And last, but not least. I'd like to thank my Fiancée who, I believe, is the most patient person I've ever known. And today, she even got me a birthday cake and champagne. Thank you. I mean it.

So what's next?

I will be posting more photos. Hopefully every day. But without the "miss-a-day-and-it's-over" pressure. Also, I will soon be moving from privat.ly to tookapic.com - a site we're building for people who'd like to run they're own photo-a-day project.

Art

Now that's what I call art. An alternative art. An independent art. An art of weird photography.

I was trying to get a picture of four smartphones perfectly aligned on a small table. And then, my future sister in law decided to help. That's how art is born.

A strategy I've been using quite often. No idea for a photo? Take a picture of those bright red shoes.

I now see, I should get some kind of backpack for all this shit I'm carrying in my left pocket. Or maybe a purse. A man purse...

Strategy

The amount of knowledge I absorbed last weekend is extraordinary. It feels great to learn so many new things.

I'm now reading The Elements of Content Strategy by Erin Kissane. I just started so I can't say anything about the book yet.

Hot

Tried to shoot some pictures outside but it was too damn hot. So I came back home and did this. It helped. A lot.

Inspired by Natsumi Hayashi's photography. I'm definitely going to experiment more with this style. I love the effect, but there's plenty of room for improvement.

Coffee, music and a blank piece of paper. Time to write some good shit.

Yamaha

My colleague's motorcycle. An old Yamaha XJN600. One of those indestructible naked bikes.

I thought I forgot how to ride a bike. Turned out I didn't. Took a short ride around the huge parking lot. Great feeling. I need to get my own.

Basket

This old, rusty thing is stainding on a parking lot near our office. I've been working there for 3 years now. And yet I've never played on that spot.

I really like the vivid blue color in this one.

Work

Slowly finishing one project after another. Just three more left. We've stopped taking new clients to get the whole September off.

The bad news is that my Macbook died few days ago, so I have to work on some old iMacs. Some really old iMacs.

Escalator

I had a post scheduled here for 11:55pm. It was a photo of my office floor. Yup, I thought I wouldn't be able to shoot anything else today.

One of these days I didn't have time to actually go shooting. Fortunately, I managed to take few pictures around 11:00pm.

Noise

Shooting with ISO 1600. The amount of noise is acceptable. This is however a different noise from what you get on DSLR.

I need to get more into street photography.
