❛ thanks for letting me into the lab, sam, ❜ bonnie sighed appreciatively as she set down her mounds of books and notepads upon one of the tables, already wearing her own lab coat with pink goggles perched atop her head. ❛ — even though i'm a literal, qualified chemist... they won't let me use this equipment without university staff supervision. i'm going to have to get a job here if i want to do any of my experiments.❜ bonnie lamented, placing their hands on their hips as they looked between all of their books and sam, their smile a bit bashful as she nodded towards the pile. ❛ — experiments i'm now running behind on, apparently.❜

Phoebe wasn't exactly sure why she was here, normally they took turns watching over the machine, making sure no one messed with it, but she should have known as soon as something went wrong, she'd be the one blamed. It was always her. Even with absolutely no evidence. Everyone assumed the worst. Frowning, anger flaring up causing flames to dance on her fingertips, Phoebe pushed herself onto her feet. "Oh, of course, as soon as something goes wrong it's my fault! Maybe your machine is busted 'cause you messed it up. Maybe you aren't as smart as you think."

bonnie frowned at the other, letting out a frustrated groan as she turned to toss the clipboard back on the table nearby, reaching up to tighten their ponytail atop their head before pressing the pads of their fingers to aching temples. ❛ phoebe, i am TRYING to get us out of here !! do you want to be stuck in this town forever ?? ❜ turning to face the other, ignoring her insult and feeling phoebe's anger without even needing to see, it took everything in bonnie's power not to implode on herself. especially given the temperature in the room had seemed to suddenly skyrocket. ❛ i'm just saying, we need to be more careful... i don't have the same lab equipment here and if this teleportation device falls apart — i have to start from scratch on finding us a way home. we need to be more careful. ❜

"hey, you'll figure it out!" marcy floats over to the couch, plopping herself next to bonnie and lightly placing a hand on her shoulder. "you always figure it out, peebs." it's true – pb is a certified genius, and there's no way being stuck in another world will stop them for long. "but... it couldn't hurt to take a lil break. you've been stressing the gum out of yourself, and that's probably making your brain all wrinkly, y'know?" she tilts her head, offering a small, hopefully reassuring, smile. "and don't be silly. you couldn't be useless even if you used all your big brainpower to try."

❛ — but what if i don't ?? what if this time it's out of my control ?? ❜ bonnie pouted, turning to look at marceline with eyes that were half-tempted to mist. it wasn't out of character for bonnibel to put an unrealistic amount of pressure on themself, and marcy was always there to remind them that it wasn't up to her to solve everything on her own. it didn't mean she was going to listen to the advice, but it was nice to be reminded anyways. scooting closer, bonnie rested their head on marceline's shoulder, folding their limbs into themself. ❛ it's impossible not to stress, marcy... i don't even have a lab here to fix it, and i can't use the one at the university without supervision. ❜ not only a chronic over thinker but a painfully strict rule follower — you couldn't break rules you didn't make yourself !! ❛ ... do you really think it's going to make my brain wrinkly ?? ❜

❛ i don't know what i'm gonna do, marcy, ❜ bonnie lamented as they threw themselves on the couch, swaddled in sweats that definitely weren't hers, draping their legs over the arm of the furniture and frowning. they shifted a bit, trying to get comfortable, but upon realizing she couldn't— bonnie huffed. ❛  the teleportation machine is broken, now. not just refusing to take us home but broken... maybe this place is making me lose my intelligence.... i'm gonna be as useful as an empty candy wrapper soon, aren't i ?? ❜

❛ oh fluff, what is wrong with this thing ?! ❜ huffed the princess as she kicked at the teleportation machine with a sneaker-clad foot, groaning as she dropped her clipboard against her thighs and clutched it so tight her knuckles turned white. glaring over at phoebe, bonnibel pushed air from her nostrils. eyes narrowing; ❛ you didn't touch it, did you ?? ❜ bonnie wouldn't put it past phoebe to mess with her machinery, given how the other always seemed to think she knew better. leave it to flame princess to mess with her precious hardware that could be their only way OUT of this place !!

it was so fluffin' hard to see raon and not just want to run up to her and yap her ear off. bonnie had really been hoping this whole um-i-don't-remember-you thing was a bit; a temporary setback... but now they were confident that the memory loss of her bestest friends was looking to be more permanent than they had anticipated. bonnie couldn't help but glance over at raon as they surveyed candy across the store, bonnie's basket filled with all kinds of red ones for marceline and chewing gum for herself... maybe if she was gentler in her approach, raon would remember her overtime as opposed to all at once. the princess could only hope.

❛ hey uh.... have you... have you tried these ?? do you know if they're any good ?? ❜ bonnie asked the other with a hopeful smile, holding up a bag of candies she had never seen before.
