Myeah this can be less to do with love languages and more to do with the fact that giving gifts leaves you in a position of power over someone (economic superiority, requirement of gratitude, often a big flashy display, etc) while doing the dishes can be seen as a sign of subservience.

Those guys who send massive floral displays to their girlfriend at work yet refuse to help with the housework aren’t doing it because they’re confused about their love language. They know what they doing.
