Why is all Naoto discourse just this and people will say it 1000% unironically

People love to say "Naotos canonically a GIRL SHE HER WOMAN" and won't even actually listen to why Naoto being a "girl" doesnt even make sense within the storyline itself and suddenly "accepts" that hes a "girl". When the actual clear goal of his story arc is wanting to be treated as grown up instead of having his skills belittled to that of a child in the older detectives eyes.

Yes Naoto is "canonically" a girl but the way its handled is horrible and is shoved in haphazardly as a half-assed surprise twist when Naotos true complex is about being "too young' to be taken seriously and even his shadow mostly hinges on the fact they were mocked for being "childish" and thats why Naoto acts so serious.

Naoto literally genuinely has 0 reason to "feel forced to be a man" when BOTH his parents were detectives, his grandpa is a detective and is supportive.... his whole arc was actually mainly about ageism and him forcing himself to be mature 24/7 so he can be taken seriously with his work.

Atlus fumbled "writing a message about misogyny in the workplace" bcuz at every point of Naoto's character is there no reason to feel a complex about being a female detective, both of Naotos parents were detectives and were clearly said as inspiration and grandfather was supportive. There was no indication in the dialogue that being female actually affected the fact Naoto willingly chose to not only dress up masculine but also be perceived as male even in day to day life. other than the fact Naoto liked being a boy!!!!

Also, Naotos shadow hinges on sex change SURGERIES... in a time where transgender people were barely a blip on the social zeitaeist, how would a teenager in a rural area even remotely know about this topic if Naoto wasn't interested in the idea of truly transitioning. It wasnt a simple "i want to magically become male" but rather the realistic approach. Naoto is a closeted trans male and his shadow outing himself to his friends iust honestly scared Naoto back in the closet, even in the social links you have to basically forcefemme Naoto instead of Naoto truly choosing to be more feminine on his own. Its crazy.

ALSO WHY DO PPL COMPARE NAOTO TO MULAN theres deadass 0 correlation. Mulan is forced to dress up as male so her dad DOESNT DIE while Naoto deadass just put on the boy clothes everyday because thats how he felt most comfortable even alone.

The average gamer is so fucking dumb bro I hate having to talk abt this to people who cant even finish reading a chapter book without pictures... but I have to expect they understand context clues and logic and not just the slop fed straight into their guzzlers that they regurgitate without actually thinking.

Babysitting a toddler is a lot like being the narration in a point-and-click adventure game. Watching him knock on the doors of empty rooms and saying "hmm. I don't think anyone's in there". Watching him attempt to use [spoon] on [cat] and saying "I don't think those things go together". Watching him throw a cup of water onto the floor and just commenting "the floor is wet now" when he looks up at me to see if I approve.
