things you will always have:
- sunrises and sunsets (new beginnings. new endings.)
- the night sky (even in the darkest of times, see beauty in things)
- new chances (to learn. to improve. just be patient)
🕐 updates
so after a very difficult and emotionally distressing few days, today i decided to head to the library and actually focus on my coursework.
i feel centered, more on track, and just generally better than i have in a couple days. i have been spending far too much time dealing with everyone else’s stuff, to the point where i ignored my own, which of course did not end well. i had a troubling night and slept late this morning - it was actually afternoon before i fully woke - because i’d been running on very little sleep from beforehand. all the stress really got to me and i utterly freaked out. now i’m choosing to keep my mind on my work, as i have been neglecting it in favour of spending time with friends. spending time with friends is not a bad thing but when it becomes all you do it’s easy to lose sight of your goals. mine are important to me and thankfully i think i’ve managed to catch myself before i slipped completely.

study thoughts 💭
so today i was at the library for three hours. spent most of that time attempting to plan & start an essay for a drama module and got entirely too stressed. then i got started on my film essay and it was so much easier.
at the beginning of the year i struggled to connect with the film material, and thrived in drama. now it is the other way around, which i thought might happen, just didn’t expect the switch to be this quick.
i need to try and stop myself leaping to extremes - i’ve always had this thing where if i’m not perfect at something the first try, i’m a failure and there’s no use trying again. i mean, total drama student. i’m literally in my second month of my four year degree and i’m already envisioning my crippling failure which is terrifying. i know that these thoughts are just worst-case-scenario - i am very familiar thanks to ocd. i know these next few weeks will be hard but i gotta push through ‘cause i know i can, and that things will work out as long as i’m putting my best effort in.

STEP TO STEP
I. make clear what you want to accomplish
II. how you gonna do it? → make a plan (with very small steps)
III. why do you want / why do you have too?
IV. prioritize it → this is so great for it
V. positive mindset → you can do this, if you finish this you can do whatever you want without feeling guilty
VI. just start. Don’t think about it. just do it!! Don’t wait to be in the perfect mood for it
VII. no distractions → put your phone in another room, write down your worries if you can’t think clear
VIII. track your progress → have a tracker in your bujo/journal/smart phone etc. and track every small progress / productive thing you did. That way you don’t feel like you do nothing & can be proud of yourself (maybe it even motivates you if you see what you already accomplished)
IX. reward yourself → with reading, watching a series, sweets, chatting with friends whatever makes you happy
TIPS
• motivation ‹ self discipline → motivation comes and goes and of course it’s nice to be motivated but you can’t always rely on it. The key isn’t how to motivate yourself, it’s how to work without it (creds)
• done bad is better than done nothing → I’m a perfectionist too but sometimes you need to remind yourself that not everything has to be perfect
• finish what you started
• always have in mind how you’ll feel if you achieved your goal
REMINDERS
• don’t put too much pressure on you
• try being not so hard on yourself → if you didn't’ do anything productive, it’s okay. You’re human and tomorrow is a new day
• don’t try to do everything at once
🤓 library
this morning, my only class was cancelled. though it was tempting to crawl back into bed, i decided instead to go to the campus library and set up there for a few hours. i’m very glad i did - i feel good about myself and actually made use of what would have been classtime in a productive way!
as i was walking that way this morning i thought, why not do a post about library supplies? this is probably all just very basic stuff, but hey, it’s easy to forget the little things!
Library Session Survival Kit
Okay, as I was only there a couple hours, I didn’t require much. Here is a list of things I did bring with me to try and make the most of my time!
• my ID card - it may not be the same worldwide, but we need these at my uni in order to be let into the library.
•library books i needed to return
•pencil case filled with lovely stationery - highlighters, pens, a pencil with an eraser on top, some tipp-ex tape
•my ipad in it’s keyboard case - i find using the wireless keyboard easier (and also more fun, tbh) than the on-screen keyboard. that way i’m not constantly bending my neck over the screen!
•charger - super important, especially if you plan on being there a few hours! there’s nothing worse than when you’re rlly in your flow and all of a sudden, your screen goes blank.
•earphones - music doesn’t work for everybody and can be distracting, but it helps me focus as it blocks out my surroundings.
•my phone (for music).
•2 notebooks. one is for scribbling down notes that i use in seminars/lectures, or for quick annotations on whatever reading i’m doing. the second is my nice notebook, the one where i use colour codes and make everything look nice.
•textbooks & module reader packs
•a bottle of water!!! water is soooo important because hydrating helps keep your mind focused and clear and it’s just really good for your body too!!!

i’m sure there are plenty of other things people like to carry with them to the library! feel free to rb and add on anything yourself!
Hey guys. I’m glad to be finally posting my “mental breakdown survival guide”. As you know I struggle a lot with mental health, and so I have been through a lot of breakdowns. So many that I actually dropped out of university after 3 weeks in 2016 and had to take the whole year off. Because of this, I’ve made it my mission to help others with mental health issues as much as I can, so you don’t have to go through what I’ve been through.
Anyway, here is my guide. I tried to keep it general, and actually useful. If you have any questions or additions please feel free to add them.
And as ever, if you want to talk to me about studying with mental illness or want to see a post on a specific topic, please feel free to message me.

👻 spooky season is the best season!
pls ignore my terrible doodles 😳
so monday night i went to see a play for one of my drama modules, called Our Lady Of Kibeho - it’s based on a true story of three schoolgirls who, during their time at Kibeho College in Rwanda, received messages from the Virgin Mary, many of them joyous, but one that was darker and more terrifying than anyone could have predicted.
the acting is stellar; the set so simple and yet able to convey so much to the audience. i enjoyed it so much that i am going to see it again tomorrow night with a classmate!
last week, i saw another play The King Of Hell’s Palace, also based on a true story: the blood-plasma business that eventually led to an outbreak of hepatitis-c and aids in rural china. the story was heartbreaking, very interesting, utterly enthralling.
so far so good, though there has been some difficult days and stress. that is to be expected though! i shall try & post more on here. hope everyone’s having a good first semester!
update #1
so, i’ve started uni (ahhhh!) and for the last few days it’s mainly been getting to know people, finding my way around campus, going to intro talks & moving into my residence.
i live in halls with five other girls, we barely see each other but i’ve had a chat with a few of them at least. i’ll admit it’s been difficult, to think of this place as my home. once classes start i hope i can completely immerse myself within my studies. as i am 21, i’m a couple years older than the rest and it sort of feels like a life time. part of me wants to go home, but i think i just need to remember what i’m here for. i’m driven, and determined, to build a career, a life, for myself.
i’ll post more updates, note pics & stationary etc., & organisation stuff. hope everyone else is doing good!!!
I havent seen anyone talk about this yet so im making a post.
So lets say you’re researching something for a paper (or just for fun) and the research paper you want to read is behind a paywall, or the site makes you create an account first, or makes you pay to download, or limits you to only 5 free articles, or otherwise makes it difficult for you to read what you want.
do not fear! copy the link to the article
go to sci-hub.se (the url is always changing so its best to check out whereisscihub.now.sh to find what the current url is)
slap the article link in there
