((Ten years ago, I started a blog.
It wasn’t much. Really, I just wanted an easy way to follow two artists who also had MLP blogs. Two days later, I drew a post as fan art for one of them. And thus began a tie to the emotional core of this blog that lasts to this day.
Drawing this blog has been the best time I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve improved as an artist, I’ve made lasting friendships, and met so many people. Why else would I keep drawing nearly daily for ten years? Because I love doing it. This is the work that inspires me.
Pinkie Tai herself has grown a lot over those ten years too! Starting as a slightly unhinged, hyperactive, friendless weirdo, she’s developed a network of friends and calmed down significantly over the course of her life as a character. I wanted to call back to as much of her past as I could over those ten years. Those who are still with her, supporting her to this day, and those we’ve had to leave behind. And as a culmination of all those years of growth she’s done, I could think of no better reward for her than finally reuniting her with her parents.
And let’s talk about that continued support! I was never, like, the most popular blog or anything. If I cracked 30 likes, that was a good day. But, like… I’m still here! You guys are still here. I’m still getting that consistant 20 or so likes each post! This blog has outlived most of its peers, its inspirations, and even the very media franchise it was created around. And it couldn’t do so without all of you. Like, I know we do this every time I hit some kind of milestone, but it’s because it’s always sincerely true: I couldn’t do this without all of you. The likes, reblogs, the very asks themselves. I’ve been able to do this for ten years because I still get asks. You folks still want to see Pinkie Tai, Bedlam, and all their friends answer questions. That’s what motivates me. That’s why I’ve never moved on to some other type of content.
Ten years ago, we started a blog.
