Rains will pour down
Waves will crash around
But you will be safe in my arms
Teddy Lupin, twenty-four, DADA professor, proud father of Abigail Grace Lupin.
This little corner of the castle had always been such a safe hiding spot. In the seven months James had been coming up here, no one had ever come up after him and he had gotten almost too comfortable with the whole thing. So of course tonight he had heard someone making their way in his direction. He had quickly shoved the handle of firewhiskey he had in his backpack, looking over to see who was coming to join him.
Teddy had stepped out to patrol the halls after Abby had fallen asleep, leaving his house elf Kenni to keep an eye on her. He had shifted his features so he couldnāt be immediately recognized as a professor, feeling that it might be good get an idea of what was going on with the newly returned students without them knowing he was walking through. He was walking up towards a rarely-visited spot of the castle when he realized that the student he was coming up on was actually his brother,Ā āJames?ā he called, shifting his features back to normal as he approached,Ā āWhat are you doing out here?ā
āYour welcome . Well lucky for you , you have me .I am pretty sure thatĀ tablets are designed to annoy the parents. āĀ
Teddy laughed softly,Ā āHonestly, Iām beginning to wonder.ā he said,Ā āI had thought it might be good to distract her while I was trying to work, but it does a much better job of distracting me.ā
āI guess that makes sense. I spent a lot of time with my family as well. My parents like to drag me to a million different places, but after not seeing them for so long I donāt mind.ā Katherine replied, sending him a soft smile.Ā āI am sure that the castle would be extremely exciting for someone her age. I am assuming that sheāll be a student here when she is older, so she will already have a head start. Most first years get lost, but sheāll have a build in map from years of exploring.ā
Teddy nodded,Ā āI have to say Iāve definitely enjoyed having most of my family in the castle with me, but it was nice to see the others.ā he commented with a smile,Ā āIt will be very strange next year once James graduates.ā he added, he had gotten used to seeing his siblings every day.Ā āAbby will definitely have the advantage of that, and sheāll also have been able to get to now the older students already, and in every house, which I think is a very good thing.ā
āYes thatās always a good idea. When I was younger my mother did something similar but only once we got our computer. Before that I was fairly balanced.ā Eliza smiled.Ā āPerhaps introduce her to something new?ā
Teddy nodded,Ā āYeah, I understand that itās a new toy, but I donāt want her to be quite so ... obsessed with it. I might look into getting her some kind of art project kit or something, just to redirect her attention for a while.ā
āIām sorry, Teddy, itās justā¦ā Her voiced trailed off. Just what? Oh, itās just that any night I could become a ferocious beast that could harm you or your daughter Abby.
Abby.
She thought of the little girl she loved so dearly. Abby, just like Teddy, was part of the family. Sheād been so engraved in the task of collecting as much information as she could about lycanthropy that she had forgotten to pay attention to the ones she loved.
āIāve missed her,ā she said. āI havenāt seen her much lately.ā And I wonāt see her much anymore, she thought with a deep sadness. Another person sheād have to say goodbye to before she left for good. Just thinking about it made her heart ache. āWhatever,ā she said after a moment and smiled ever so slightly. āIāll just go see her now.ā
Teddy nodded carefully,Ā āSheās missed you too, thatās why she got so excited.ā he reminded the girl. Dominque had been distant lately, and he couldnāt deny that he was a little concerned.Ā āHey, before you go, can we talk for a moment?ā he asked, nodding in the direction of the books that had been scattered.Ā āIs this about your dad? Or me?ā he questioned, recognizing the titles aboutĀ lycanthropy.
He had done quite a lot of research on the subject himself, wanting to understand the condition that had afflicted his father, and to see if he could learn anything about the small affects he had himself. Truthfully he felt he stood as a great example against a lot of the fear-mongering, he was the child of a werewolf, but he was not one himself, nor did he consider himself to have any serious symptoms.Ā
āYou know, if you have questions, both of us would be open to talking with you. Iāve certainly read rather a lot about it, and I am your professor as well.ā
āYeah, technology and kids are interesting.ā Katherine replied, knowing that she was still a kid herself but not as young as Abby. āI am sure that you will figure something out.ā She shrugged at the man, not really sure what else to say on the subject.Ā āDid you have a good summer professor?ā
Teddy nodded,Ā āI will.ā he agreed before smiling at the young girl,Ā āIt was very nice, I got spend time with the small portion of my family that doesnāt currently live in the castle.ā he joked,Ā āAnd it was also nice to focus on Abby some without worrying about work. But I have to say, I did miss teaching as well. And I know Abby missed having the castle to explore with herĀ āaunt and unclesā.ā
āI assume you have a really good excuse as to What. The. Fuck. Is this,ā Dominique said coldly, eyebrows raised and a blazing look on her stone face. Sheād only left the room for five minutes and when she came back everything was a complete and utter mess. Perhaps she wouldnāt have cared so much if it had been regular school books. But these were her books. Books that she needed more than anything else in the world, and now all the lycanthropy material was scattered on the floor. She spoke again, just as acidly as before. āIām listening.ā
āHey, calm down.ā Teddy said quickly,Ā āLook, Abby just came looking for you and she ran into your table, knocked stuff over. I just sent her off with James, I was about to pick your books up, itās not that big a deal.ā he told the younger girl that he saw as a cousin.Ā
āI canāt say that is something that I can really relate to.ā Katherine replied, shrugging at the professor. Katie had never been overly obsessed with technology, and liked to spend her time practicing Quidditch, or hanging out with friends.Ā āAlthough, couldnāt you just use a deafening charm to drowned out the sound for a while?ā
Teddy gave a small shrug,Ā āI would, but I do still want to be able to hear her if she needs me.ā he explained,Ā āI do think Iām going to have to limit her tablet time though ... and it canāt be during my grading time anymore.ā he said, shaking his head softly. Honestly, it had sounded like a good idea at first; a way to distract her while he worked, but it had majorly backfired.
Eliza tried not to laugh at his predicament despite his frustration she had a soft spot for her colleagueās little girl.Ā āYou could always take it off of her now and then you know. Sound proof your study.ā
āI think I am going to have to limit her āTablet Timeā. I donāt want to soundproof anything though, I always want to be able to hear her if she needs me when Iām in our quarters.ā he explained.
āIām pretty sure i said i wasĀ ,I dont mind watching over Abby.I enjoy it actually. I am here whenever you need help.Ā Go everything will be fineā
āThank you so much!ā Teddy said sincerely,Ā āI hate to tell her to stop, cause she loves it so much but ... I really canāt think when sheās playing that stuff over and over.ā
Iāll skip the formalities, Edward, I know your secrets, and Iām more than willing to let everyone know. If you donāt want that to happen, you will have to do what I say. Be prepared for further instructions. ~X
Teddy blew out a sharp breath as he spotted the note mixed in with the papers he was grading. He dināt quite know what to do about that situation. It wasnāt for himself that he kept the secret anymore. He could deal with people knowing heād had a badly chosen one night stand at seventeen. What he didnāt want was for Abby to have to live in a world that knew who her mother was, that might blame her for the actions she had no part in, that might expect her to be anything like that monster. He couldnāt let that happen to his daughter, which meant that, for now at least, he was going to have to play along with whatever this person wanted.
āKids will be kids. I could take her off your hands for awhile so you can get grading done only if you want . iām already done with mine so itās not a problem really. ā It was true it didnāt take ling for victorie toĀ finish grading all of her papers.
Teddy shot a relieved look at Victoire,Ā āAre you sure?ā he asked,Ā āI mean she can drive you a little insane with those songs. Sheāll play the same one for an hour straight.ā he warned.Ā
āI mean itās not that Iām not grateful that people want to buy stuff for Abby, especially expensive things, but sheās pretty much been glued to that tablet since her birthday.ā Teddy said with a small sigh, nodding to where the little girl sat with it, almost comically large looking headphones over her ears.Ā āBut you try grading essays when she takes the headphones off, turns the sound up, and starts blaring whatever childrenās song sheās discovered that week.ā
TEDDY LUPIN is TWENTY FOUR and is a PROFESSOR of DADA. HE is a HALFBLOOD.
Hey, everybody! Iām Becca, and I will be playing my bb Teddy (and Elliot!) here. Iām super excited to get back into HP groups and I canāt wait to start writing with all of you! Please donāt be afraid to message me to plot, I always love to come up with things to do with my bbs!
Full Name: Edward āTeddyā Remus Lupin
Age: Twenty-Four
Subject: Defense Against the Dark Arts
House: Hufflepuff
Blood Status: Half-Blood
Parents: Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks Lupin
Raised By: Andromeda Tonks, Harry and Ginny Potter
He was raised by Andromeda and the Potters, spending much more time with the Potters as his grandmother got older.
Teddy has always considered the Potter kids to be his younger siblings, and himself as the oldest of the Potter/Weasley clan. As such, he is very protective of his siblings.
Teddy can have problems with feeling like he isnāt good enough. He knows some wouldnāt consider him fully human as his father was a werewolf, though he himself has never had symptomās much worse than his āuncleā Bill Weasley. What worries him the most however, is feeling like heās not living up to his parents and grandparents legacies and expectations, and in recent years, that heās not a good enough father.
Seventeen year old Teddy had a one night stand with a witch he met in a bar while traveling just after graduating Hogwarts. Unfortunately, that witch was later arrested by Harry Potter for the murder of multiple muggles - which she had been wanted for during the last several months. She had a surprise for the Auror arresting her, however, when she revealed that she was pregnant with his grandchild. Testing would prove this to be true, and she remained in ministry holding cells until she gave birth and the baby girl was handed off to her father, and she was sent to Azkaban.
Teddy was mortified by the situation, but the moment he was handed his little girl, she became his whole world. He is incredibly protective of his little girl, Abigail āAbbyā Grace Lupin. She is the absolute first priority in his life and heās desperate to be everything she needs, especially as she has no mother in her life - and hasnāt had that story explained, as no one but his āparentsā and the Weasley adults knows the truth.
Abby is six years old and lives with Teddy in the castle. She is very curious and enjoys spending time with her family when sheās allowed. He has a personal house elf (a free, paid elf, due to stories of Dobby) who helps him with Abby when heās in class and thereās no one else to watch her.
Teddy tends to let his hair return to itās natural color when heās in āSerious Professor Modeā, subconsciously, this is because he knows he looks more like his father that way. In other times, his hair is usually blue, though he does play with the color on occasion, especially to amuse Abby.
He will occasionally patrol the halls having shifted so that he canāt be recognized in order to try to blend in more and catch anything that shouldnāt be going on.
Teddy really enjoys reading - not that he has much time for it anymore - and is fascinated by comparing similarities and differences in muggle literature.
He has a major sweet tooth - a trait that he shares with his daughter, though he does try to keep Abby from eating too many sweets. Six year oldās on sugar highs can be mildly terrifying.
He takes his job very seriously. He knows that there might be peace now, but heās heard enough stories to know the dangers of war. War took his parents, and so many friends and family of those he grew up with. He wants to make sure that his students are well trained to protect themselves should anything like that ever break out again.
