Hello, Father Brown fans once again I am back on my BS. For reasons I cannot fully explain, I have been possessed to figure out the timeline of the 2013 TV series. And it's left me absolutely cackling but extremely confused.
(Disclaimer: Before I start I am aware that TV shows have to retcon things as they progress, and there will be inevitable plot holes but I still love the show)
Okay so in the last episode of Series 1, Episode 10, The Blue Cross
We see "Captain Flynn's" marching orders
Dated 8th October 1953. Okay, so we know Series 10 takes in 1954 which means Kembleford would have gone through 3 inspectors, and probably experienced around 130 murders. IN A YEAR. Not to much mention comments like Inspector Mallory made that he put down roots in Kembleford.
OK so that had me laughing but then I remembered
Series 5, Episode 11, The Sins of Others
The Episode in which Sid after a year of being in prison for a crime he did not commit checks a witness statement.
25th of June 1952 (I know it is cut off but trust me )
He also has a calendar from the time he left.
Okay, so that means that Series 5 takes place in 1953. So that means Series 5 to probably 9 ish was all in 1953. But that does not seem right with the amount Holiday episodes we got.
My question to you guys is what do you think the new timeline is?
My best guess is that Series 1 would now have to be around be 1949 or 1950 which also seems tight.
But in all honestly I’m all for Father Brown pulling a Twilight with their timeline and having over 100 hundred murders in a year.
Ok, ok I need to get something off my mind. I’ve been rewatching Father Brown, and I’m at the point where Sid is no longer a regular. And I just wanted to state we have learned more about Mrs. Devine’s background in the one series/season she was in than we learned about Sid in the entire 4 series he regularly appeared in.
Like we know she is widow, and has an adult son. She enjoys the theatre, and acts in plays often.
What we know about Sid’s background
Originally from London.
And he moved to Kembleford when he was young.
Has a Nan/grandmother that he visits sometimes. ( and wanted her to lie to the police )
Literally that is all
He is still one of the most popular characters in the series. Yet we have like little to no info on his life !?
