Heaven and Hell don't go to war anymore. No one really knows when it started, but at some point, the hatred just started to mellow. And now Everyone just goes to either place, whether for vacay or to chill, or for dates and what-not.
Satan is the only one of the seven princes who refuses to check out heaven again.
"So much like Lucifer in his pride," they laughed, giving up on the stubborn devil. Leaving him alone again in that empty, cold castle.
"It's better this way," he would console himself, resting his head on his damp knees in his desolate, dark, dreary throneroom. "I don't care." The devil is known for his lies.
But Satan was never as prideful as his brother. He was the King of Wrath, after all. A ferocious beast to be feared. Always on the offense, always in a violent fury, always burning his enemies, and his friends and his bridges, indiscriminately.
He could never do everything out of pride. No, he just didn't want to see heaven again. The place filled with the people he hurt, the people he burned, the people he killed. He could never take back what he has done; the fire cannot return what it has consumed, it keeps going and it keeps raging.
So why doesn't Satan wish to burn anymore? Why do his eyes sting? Why does his voice quake? Why does his heart race? And worst of all, why does he crave the presence of the other princes, again?
Heaven and Hell don't go to war anymore. Everyone else moved on, found it in them to forgive. But not Satan, he could never, he was wrath itself, a devil, a king, an inferno that could never go back on what he has done. Why the hell should he ever forgive himself?
