“ I made here, I made these people ! the only one who doesn’t belong here is Y O U ! ”

Carefully, Toki scooted closer to Abigail and laid his head down on her shoulder. She was a bit shorter than him - it felt odd, having to move so far - but he dealt with it and kept himself happily situated against her. He would move whenever she asked him to. He would do anything for her comfort.
"I'm glads," he said softly. "I don't wants you to goes anywhere. I knows the others don't eithers." Nathan and Pickles liked her too much, and Skwisgaar would not be happy having to search for another producer. Murderface...was an enigma. He was comfortable enough with Abigail, at least. That was something.
As for her last comment... Toki could not help it; he laughed at it. She was right, it was never boring, being part of Dethklok.
"Yeah, tells me abouts it!" Toki wiped his eyes on the back of his free arm, grateful the tears were no longer about to fall. "Trolls, clowns, subs-marines, rabids fans..." Magnus. But Magnus was not funny, and everything else was in retrospect. Toki could tell stories about Rockso for centuries (even if he was a piece of shit at the end of the day), and Mustakrakish? Who could keep from falling out of their chair upon learning Murderface killed him with a cell phone? Every day was an adventure. "Ams wilds, beings here. But I don't wanna bes nowhere else, no matters what."
Because this was his home. These men were his family. Toki went through hell for them over and over, and he would do it again in a heartbeat.
Abigail gladly allowed Toki to lay his head on her shoulder, gently wrapping her arm that was closest to him around him, placing her hand on his back.
She gave a soft hum in response. Now that she thought about it, she didn't have much of a clue of what the others really thought of her ― even Pickles and Nathan. (She never quite knew if they actually liked her or just liked her around for a little less serious reasons.) She silently decided to take Toki's word for it, though.
A bright smile quickly appeared on her features the moment the other began laughing, a small laugh coming from her shortly after. “ God, I can only imagine what it would've been like with you guys if I'd ended up here a month or so sooner, " she said. She'd heard bits and pieces of what went on long before she even got there ― it was impossible not to hear about it considering how ridiculous some of the situations were ― and it sounded like it would've been an interesting time, and while she was more than happy to be there now, she was also quite glad she came at the time she did rather than sooner.
Another hum, and she replied, " Yeah, I hear ya'. I think it'd be weird not to be here, at this point. "

The trek was a little long, as to be expected from living in Mordhaus. Toki liked to think he made up for it by babbling on and on about the first thing that came to mind. Sometimes people needed something to fill the silence, even if that something consisted entirely of excited jabbering about movies and hot chocolate. "You shoulds haves it when Jean-Pierre makes it!" he said as they stepped into the kitchen. "He's pretty goods for a guys with destroyeds hands. Luckiest chefs we ever hads, and that's sayings a lot!"
Reluctantly, Toki released Abigail's hand and made a dash for the cupboards. He pulled down the mug with Skwisgaar's face on it for himself, and the one with Nathan's face for Abigail. It would work; they were the closest mugs Toki could reach anyway. "Maybe we could settles for a movie. Somethings funny! Likes Shrek, or maybe The Gods Must Be Crazy. Or uh..." He scrunched his face in thought and handed Abigail her mug. "...any suggests-tions?"
Abigail was quite content with talking about small, possibly not all that meaningful things ― and was especially glad that Toki was able to think up most of the chatter, because this late at night, she was coming up a little short on actual things to contribute to the conversation. " Oh yeah ― Jean-Pierre sure is something else, that's for sure. And I mean that in the most positive way, of course. "
When Toki released her hand, she simply leaned against the counter slightly, eyes wandering to the ceiling for a moment before the other spoke up again, making her turn her head to look at him. She couldn’t help but give a light chuckle at his suggestions. " Shrek sounds good, actually, " she replied, taking the mug he handed to her with a murmured 'thanks.'
" y'know what, work is cancelled until further notice. and by 'until further notice' i mean until i say work’s no longer cancelled. "
wovvee:
Did she really mean that?
Toki's expression softened further, save for a brief cringe as he tried to keep from getting emotional. No one liked a crybaby. He knew that, and yet he was tempted to break down in tears before Abigail for the thousandth time. She had basically told him that he helped her the same way she had helped him. How could he not get emotional, knowing that? His heart might not register those words, but his brain did, and he would always remember them.
Always remember the kindness and how it made him feel.
"You's too sweet." Toki's voice cracked. He forced it to steady and looked back up at Abigail. His face crinkled with his smile, eyes tired but delighted as he stared at her. "I'ms glad you're heres to works with us. We's really neededs someone likes you." Charles provided similar emotional support, but he was nowhere near as no nonsense as Abigail was. Not to mention he was just as withdrawn as Dethklok. Perhaps more. Toki just felt more comfortable speaking to someone like Abigail, trauma or no.
"You won'ts be goings no times soon, right? We's alls a bit fuckeds up insides, and I know you's been through a lots because of us...but you likes your job wells enough to stay, don'ts you?" Lord, he hoped so. It would kill Toki if Abigail left any time soon. It would kill him if she left at all.
She gave a soft breath through her nose, smile widening at the comment of her being 'too sweet', though her brow furrowed slightly at the initial sound of his voice cracking, though she seemed to brush it off for the moment. To say she was glad to have gotten to tell him he helped her was an understatement. She didn't want him to feel like he owed her as much as he probably did ― (at least, as much as Abigail believed he might've) not when she felt, at times, like she owed him more than she could give.
" I'm glad to be here, honestly. Don't think I've gotten a job this exciting since...well, ever, if I'm honest, " she said, slight amusement in her tone. Despite all that she'd had to deal with while working with Dethklok, she could not say that she regretted any of it, and, if asked, would go through it all again without a second thought. She'd dealt with her fair share of bands in her line of work, maybe even more, but none of them, none of them, had ever been anywhere near as eventful as her time with Dethklok had been.
She blinked at the question, but answered, " Oh, jesus, no, I'm definitely not leaving any time soon. I couldn't do that to you guys ― that'd just be ― " A little fucked up, in a way. To just leave, force herself to act like nothing had ever happened, to act like all of it had just been another 'job ?'
She couldn't do that. It was far from that easy.
" Besides ― I do like this job too much to just up and leave, " she admitted, " I mean, again ― no boring day with this job, that's for sure. "

Ever-so-happy to help out, Toki grinned wider and carefully tugged Abigail along, out of the office and into the hall. "I talkeds Charles into buying lots of different ones!" he said excitedly. "One of thems is really fancy; sea salt whippeds cream. I kinda likes it!" Not enough to drink it often though. Toki's health would not allow it, and while sea-salt was delicious, the combination could be a bit too rich.
Toki continued to tick off various bullet points as they walked together. Get Abigail out of the office? Check. Offer a hot beverage? Check! Get her to drink it? In progress...eventually. Get her to sleep? Easier said than done, and that was what worried Toki most. If Abigail's insmonia was anything like his, it would be a long time before she felt comfortable lying down. He squeezed her had subconsciously and huffed through his nose, forcing a grin back on his face. "If you wants, we can watch TV or somethings. Gets your mind on somethings funny."
She couldn't help but grin herself at just how happy Toki seemed to be at the moment. " Oh, wow, " she replied, brows raised in slight surprise, " that does sound pretty fancy. Can't say I've ever tried the flavour before, though. "
Abigail shrugged lightly, " sure ! Why not. Gonna be there for a while anyways, " she said, in a partially joking manner. For all she knew, she may not have been able to get to sleep until dawn ― but at the very least, she had better chances at sleeping at all so long as she was able to keep her mind distracted. TV would help that. Hell, the very fact that Toki was getting her out of the office and talking to her and doing his best to get her to lie down was plenty to keep her mind distracted and currently at ease. Just as long as it wasn’t silence. Even if there was nothing but static on the TV, it’d be better than absolutely nothing.

“Mmgh.” He literally just… sat on the table. (There’s chairs everywhere, you dimwit!) “Scho how’sch your, uh…” Shit, what do girls like to talk about? Shoes? He had some pretty good-lookin’ shoes, for the record. “…Your, uh, your work. How’sch your work.” It was gonna be totally boring hearing her drone on about paperwork, but at least the background noise might help him get a nap in.
She decided to pay no mind to the fact that he sat on the table of all places ― it really didn't matter in hindsight ― and proceeded to shuffle through some papers while listening to the other. The fact that he decided to ask about work was a slight surprise, (it's paperwork ― there's not much worth talking about) but she brushed it off as him just choosing something simple.
" It's alright. I mean, it's nothing exciting, but it's not stressful or anything, which is good, ‘specially since there’s a lot of it. "

“Fuckin’ schue me, nobody elsche wantsch to talk to me! Jeesch…” He grumbled even after apparently ending the sentence. Which, to be fair, was something he did a lot. “Maybe I juscht like talking to you, asschhole.” He’d never really had a full conversation with Abigail. (She was too intimidating. Christ, a real woman in the workplace? He just couldn’t deal.) So he wasn’t sure if she was… actually fun to talk to.
" Hey, relax ― I was just kidding. I seriously don't mind at all. " Even if she did end up having to end conversations to avoid distractions, she actually liked others talking to her while she worked. It was more preferable than being stuck in constant quiet all the time, with pens scratching and papers shuffling being the only actual sound. Even if she wasn't always fun, per se, to talk to, she did try to be pleasant at most.
(i pray to a silent god this doesnt resize ugly)

Try. Toki knew how that felt.
The only reason he was awake was because he also had difficulties falling asleep. Abigail did not need to know about them though; Toki figured he would be able to rest easier if he got her to lay down like she so desperately needed. With a grateful hum, he stepped out of the doorway and towards her, offering his hand for her to take so she could stand up.
It always helped him to know someone else cared.
"Come ons, then," he said. He tried to smile, and only half succeeded. "I can takes you there, makes you some small drinks if you wants. The hots chocolate always helps me." That was a bold-faced lie – one Abigail probably knew after all these years – but even if it did not help him sleep, it at least helped him calm down when he was in a state of panic. Maybe it would help Abigail relax too. Toki was ready to try just about anything.
She took his hand, using it to help her get up from the chair. Only after she realized her feet had fallen asleep and needed a small moment to stretch her back had she realized just how long she'd been sitting in that chair ― and mentally told herself that, god, she did need to lie down.
She returned the smile, and replied, " I'd like that, actually, thank you. " Abigail didn't care if it was a lie ― to her, it seemed so small that it really didn't matter. What mattered was the fact that Toki was trying to do her some favours right now, which she was quite thankful for. (And probably would be even more grateful for the next morning.)
