To all the people in India who were applying for college in Delhi University this year, I'm so sorry.
I'm sorry our education system is so pathetically structured.
For people that don't know, Delhi University is considered one of the best universities in the entire country and everyone applies here. But this year, the cut off went upto 100 FUCKING PERCENTAGE which is basically saying that people who scored an astonishing score of a 96-97 won't even be considered.
So according to our esteemed educational government, if you're not scoring a perfect score of a 100, you're not worthy of a good college and it's literally just saying a big FUCK YOU to the students.
It's so stupid and pointless because high school marks don't even matter once you graduate. And to judge an entire career of a student on the basis of academic excellence has always been disheartening for me. Because if you're not good in science and the conventional subjects, you're not good enough to have a good future for yourself.
And it's so so fucked up.
As someone living in Delhi 100% cut off Is not new thing and also not only this year thing...it happens every year..and is happening from a long time.. and As someone who is in third year of college I can say yes it creates lots of pressure on students to get good grades in order to get admission in good college that too in your preferred subjects. And also if you are in general category then again you have to grind harder then SC, ST, OBC people. And I have taken admission in IPU that Indraprastha University which is private university but it carries similar value as of DU (Delhi University). But people's first preference is always DU. And if they are unable to get admission then they come to IPU. And 2 years ago, while I was standing in the que of getting admission this girl came to me and said she wanted to take admission in English honers and she has got 93% and she has participated in extra curricular activities too but she is unable to get admission in DU without any qota.. and I have faced that situation myself as well. Indian education system does need to be restructured and also apart from our education system Indian parents too need to change thier mindset of pressuring thier children's to score good grades. And always giving preference to fields like science and commerce streams because only this field can give thier children a nice job and a sane life... and considering arts as a field of taboo. Considering that a child only takes arts because he/she has got less grades, oo please I have seen 98% scoring children in arts field because they have passion for arts and some of those students parents have respected thier choice and some students have been in this stream irrespective of their parents will. I have seen a lot of young children having mental pressure from their families to score well and not only well, but also choose the field that their families want and sideline thier passion because according to them passion can't give you good amount of money and it's not something suitable you should opt for..like seriously!!
