sometimes i wonder if we have forgotten that sharing creative work is, fundamentally, a bid for human connection. like I'm not posting art or fic for 'engagement' i'm posting it looking for other sickos to play with! i'd be making it anyway for my own gratification because there's something wrong with me, i'm sharing it hoping we can have something wrong with us together <3

Pet peeve is when lore hunting and wild theorizing and predictions override your appreciation for the substance of the media in front of you. Like. dawg chill is it gonna kill you if the characters or themes take precedence for a little bit instead of your pattern recognition that you decided should be canon

theorizing itself isnt bad at all but I think some of some fandoms are ignoring the meat of the stories they love for it sometimes and its making them approach the new releases Weird

No cause you’re so right. I may be biased as an English major, but here’s what I’ve learned from stories:

A story being somewhat predictable is okay. Good, even. It means the author did a good job making the conclusion feel earned. And I think sometimes it feels like fandom theorizing causes people to miss other important parts of the story (character arcs, themes, etc) in the name of trying to jump ahead of the writer. Like. Okay cool you figured out whodunnit but have you considered… whydunnit. And I mean “why” thematically not character motivations btw
