Liking old books is so embarrassing, like: “this is my blorbo :3 he- he’s from an 1800’s mystery series :) my favorite ship you ask? I- I ship this silly Victorian detective with his best friend :D
He’s been hundreds of thousands of people’s blorbo for going on 150 years for good reason. Be proud! You are part of a grand tradition of people being real weird over this little freak.
It’s 2025. BBC Sherlock ended 8 years ago. The last season was so bad the fans didn’t even want to talk about it when it came out. Occasionally a post resurfaces where we all laugh at struggling to plug our phones in and being called alcoholics. Every time, there are more and more people in the comments who don’t get the joke. There are two currently airing Sherlock Holmes audio dramas that both portray a queer Holmes (as well as several other excellent queer characters), and one of them now has Holmes and Watson in a canonical romantic relationship. There’s an adorable crowdfunded short film where Watson plans Holmes’ birthday party and they flirt with each other, share a bed, plan their retirement, and kiss on the mouth. A video game about retired beekeeper Holmes just released where he arranges a romantic picnic so he can finally tell Watson how he feels. A popular graphic novelist just released the first part of a queer comic book retelling of the complete Holmes canon and had to do several rounds of preorders because she kept selling out too fast. Sherlock is garbage and here’s why has 15 million views on YouTube. Nature is healing. ❤️🐝
Edit bc I forgot to drop the names: The podcasts are Sherlock & Co and Fawx & Stallion aka @224bbaker (the one with the canon gay relationship.) The short film is called The Adventure of the Furtive Festivity and it's on youtube. The video game is @beekeeperspicnic and it's on Steam. The graphic novel series is by Molly Knox Ostertag, aka @contact-guy) Please feel free to drop any other queer Holmes adaptations I may be missing.
FANZINE IS OFFICIALLY RELEASED! 🥳

Never let anyone tell you that fanfiction is less legit than a published book. A pastiche is just fanfiction written by an old man with friends in publishing.
shoutout to the words "overmorrow" and "ereyesterday". english losing these words was stupid. "the day after tomorrow" "the day before yesterday" clunky-ass constructions. revolting. i'm bringing overmorrow and ereyesterday back in my idiolect and there is nothing you can do about it
this gave me a headache
One of the porns in the collection features “Sherlock Homie” and “Dr. Whatsup” and it’s just as bad as you’re imagining
I've been thinking about this for a while and it's so funny to me to watch all these old interviews on youtube with Jeremy Brett around the time he was doing the Sherlock Holmes stage play with Hardwicke
And talking about how "dark" Sherlock Holmes is to him.
"a black beetle"
"a sort of damaged penguin"
"I wouldn't cross the street to meet him"
and then suddenly he sees a bunch of literal children in the audience of this stage show who are just absolutely enamored with Sherlock Holmes, and see him as a hero figure and it's a total shock to him and in some ways completely alters his perception of the character. And it seems (to me anyway) that it finally took some of that burden off of him around the character (which I'm sure had to be a relief!)
Anyway I can definitely imagine it was exceptionally hard for a man who was by all accounts extroverted, gregarious, and a rather romantic personality to get into the headspace of a deeply introverted man with intense interests (and, canonically, no interest in sex or romantic relationships of any sort) and Brett was perfectly candid about how it vexed him and even affected his mood and mental health trying to sustain the character which he felt was basically sinister.
It's so peculiar to me because that view of Holmes is so utterly contradictory to how I see him in the original ACD canon and Brett was literally reading the exact same stories before and during filming, and coming away with a very different conclusion about it
I suppose in a way it's a good thing he perhaps overcorrected internally on his interpretation of Sherlock Holmes being basically inhuman because enough of himself bled through that it could have made Holmes a just a little too much of a extrovert. The end result was a serendipitous compromise that actually hit much closer to the mark and clearly worked beautifully because to this day nobody has topped his performance on screen of Sherlock Holmes and probably never will
(And in all fairness to Brett, his stated opinion on the character doesn't come even close to being the most off-piste, not even in the top 10 I've encountered. I've talked about the issue with modern adaptations in the past, although I would never accuse Brett of being a fraction that uncharitable about it because he clearly wasn't. It's not so much that Sherlock Holmes is scary, as that Brett was just scared of him. And he is kind of an intimidating figure! But not really scary.)
I don’t care if Sherlock Holmes is on the packaging. Please stop sending food or drink (or shampoo?!?) to the archives.
My favorite David Burke Holmemes in honor of his passing. Rest in peace to one of the best and hottest Watsons we’ve ever had.
Fun fact: the first meme in this post was actually the first Holmeme I ever made, and the inspiration for this whole series!
LOOKIT HIS STUPID MUSSY HAIR I LOVE HIM
Still wondering how these escaped the Disney Vault.
Thinking about the Holmes story where a blind girl goes to him and is like "My fiancé is missing and he kept telling me the week leading up to his disappearance that he would always love me and come back for me,were anything to happen so I think he knew he was in trouble and I love him so much and I'm going to wait for him but I'd like to find him faster,ya know?" And Holmes figures out that it was this girl's parents to scam her out of money she was owed from an estate which she gave to them because she was still living at home, which she wouldn't be if she ever married,so her step father PRETENDED TO DATE HER for MONTHS to keep her from ever getting engaged to a real person and when Holmes finds out he confronts this man and this man is like "Well, you caught me! But it wasn't illegal:) so:)" and Holmes is like "No,but it was sickening and cruel and if she had a brother or good male friend he should post you up and whip you but she doesn't." And the man is like "No,she doesn't." And does the Victorian version of sticking his tongue out and Holmes is like "Well,I guess I'll do then!" And HE PULLS OUT HIS HUNTING WHIP.
Iconic. Sherlock our Queen
hey don't cry. on december 3, 1926, agatha christie went missing for eleven days and because the uk police didn't know what to do they recruited sir arthur conan doyle, creator of master detective sherlock holmes, but all he did was conduct a séance to try and contact her distressed spirit
If ur rude to him, ur rude to me😡
