anyone else ever think about the fact that Sherlock will probably never tell John he was in love with him until he dies?
how they’ll probably just watch each other grow old and Sherlock will love him all the while and John will wonder why none of his relationships never stick, why he’s never been able to find his one person to make it work with but Sherlock won’t ever say anything bc he doesn’t want to impose himself into John’s life any more than he already has so he promises himself he’ll wait for John to say it first, but John never will bc he doesn’t realize?
and then Sherlock will probably just leave it in a note or something before he dies and John will finally realize the whole other life that he could have had with him only after he’s missed his chance forever?
alright so here’s a project i’m working on where i’m listening to all the beatles albums in order and basically tracking the progression of their music, style, etc. i’ll be updating this regularly but i’ve made it through six albums so far so here’s what i’ve got
Album 1: Please Please Me (1963)
50s jive
lots of claps
50s electric guitar/guitar riffs
not much instrumental except brief interludes ultimately getting to vocals
screaming
emphasized “2 +” or “3 4”
some faster, some slower but basically all just different iterations of the same rhythmic foundation
shocking amount of harmonica
vocal walk downs
“A Taste of Honey” really the only one that showed any sort of stylistic variation
Album 2: With the Beatles (1963)
more experimentation/deviation with chord progressions
similar rhythmic structure
same old fashioned electric guitar
leans more into the classic sixties style
still the harmonica though
such 50s hits as “Please Mister Postman” and “Roll Over Beethoven”
“Til There Was You” is a standout and uses acoustic rather than electric guitar (then again, perhaps this can be attributed to the fact that they didn’t actually write this one bc Meredith Wilson did)
Album 3: A Hard Day’s Night (1964)
still the same old fashioned electric guitar
more harmonica but cow bell is new
not much more chord experimentation but melodies have surprising moments
“If I Fell” somewhat revisits the 50s vibe but honestly was one of my favorites
gotta love the voice crack by Paul
yeah overall pretty similar style to the first two albums
most intriguing one was “I’ll Be Back”
Album 4: Beatles for Sale (1964)
opening track shows promise- something in the rhythm seems almost latin influenced
lots more old fashioned guitar
old fashioned harmonies as well
bits and pieces of their signature style developing in the third track
more 50s jibe as is to be expected
“I’ll Follow the Sun” was a standout with acoustic instead of electric guitar and softer melodies (also seems like could be the beginning of some later stuff)
got a little bit experimental on a few but it kinda backfired
backtrack a bit in using the 50s elements again with a little bit of country/blues incorporation (last track is straight up Elvis)
Album 5: Help (1965)
some brass which is interesting
still a lot of the same instruments and rhythmic structures but some deviation in melodies
i think their unique style really starts to come out here- they don’t exactly sound like everyone else on this one
“Yesterday” is the standout
electric piano, that’s new!!
Album 6: Rubber Soul (1965)
already from the first track there is a noticeable difference- their unique style is really starting to take form here
branching out in melodies, harmonies, and instruments
includes electric bass which is nice, some sort of middle eastern guitar that is kind of moody blues-esque, and the harpsichord sound in “In My Life”
definitely promising but they’re not on enough drugs yet

Moriarty appreciation post because i recently finished the new Young Sherlock show and loved Dónal Finn’s Moriarty. i loved the dynamic between the two, and honestly think he ended up being my favorite character 🫣
so here’s a lot of Moriarty. you can tell who my two favorites are (oops) but one ACD Moriarty at the end cause he’s iconic i guess
