James McAvoy as Bill Denbrough IT: CHAPTER TWO (2019) dir. Andy Muschietti
alt-keira:
Keira laughed at his words. “Haven’t we all fucked up there at some point?” Keira mused. Relationships were never her strong point, they had failed and failed again and she was pretty sure she would be ready to give up on them all together. “Wow, twice. I guess since I like you we can stretch it to two.” She laughed. Keira licked her lips and took a small step back, she couldn’t go down the route again. It would just end in hurt. Or embarrassment. “We are?” Keira asked, raising an eyebrow. “What is the other thing?”
James gave a slight smile in her comment before giving a small shrug, “Possibly but I feel I do more than some.” He chuckled in a teasing manner, his eyes stayed on her face for possibly a little longer than normal, his biggest fail was when he ended it with her. Laughing at her jest, “I’m honored that you would do me such a service.” He teased as he smiled at her, noticing her lick to her lips to her step back. Looking away for a moment as he took a sip of his wine before his gaze was back onto her before he cleared his throat, “Well I’ve finally finalized my divorce.”
alt-keira:
“Well, thank you. You always know what a lady needs to hear.” She said, a bright grin on her face. She was never one for birthdays, it always made her think about the past and where life had taken her. If someone had mentioned to her she would be spending it with James, she probably would have laughed it off but now she couldn’t picture being with anyone else. “well, I guess once a year isn’t too bad.” She said. Keira pushed her lips together when she found herself looking at him for a little too long. She jumped back when he cleared his throat and shook her head, she couldn’t be going down there. “That’s good to know.” She smiled.
“I don’t think that is the truth, I’m pretty sure I fuck up quite frequently when it comes to what a woman wants to hear.” He laughed at himself, because it was true, there have been plenty of times where he did not say what she wanted to hear. He knew that she didn’t like her birthday but he did like that she was always willing to spend it with him whenever he’d ask her. “Once a year, possibly twice if we do Christmas.” He teased grinning as he looked at her, part of him wanting to lean in, but knowing that he probably shouldn’t. “So we’re actually celebrating two things tonight.” He commented as he filled the two glasses and handed one over to her.
alt-keira:
“Well, thank you for always humouring me.” She laughed. It was nice to have at least one constant in her life. It felt like she had a gone through a life time with him. “Yeah but that’s different. I like getting you things.” She said, the bright grin still on her face. She held her arms for James and smiled as he put it on. Her fingers traced the bracelet on her. It really was too nice. She looked up at James comment, she realized she was closer to him than she expected. Her eyes darted across his lips, meeting his gaze and hiding it there for a bit too long. She shook her head and took a step back, licking her lips. It was a dangerous line, they danced to close to it before and she couldn’t go there. “Thank you.” She smiled. “Glad we are on the same page.” She laughed.
“I will always humor you anytime that you need it.” He commented with a smile and small chuckle, which was true he would always humor her and go with anything that she wanted. He rolled his eyes playfully at her comment about it being different, “Oh well I have some news for you because I like getting you things.” He commented with a sly smile as he looked at her just in time to catch that small glimpse to his lips gaze staying on hers and he mentally stop himself from looking at her lips as well. Clearing his throat some as he straightened himself up, “You don’t have to thank me but you are welcome. It looks good on you.” He responded before laughing taking the bottle into the kitchen and setting it on the counter, “I think we’ve almost always been on the same page.” he stated with a small laugh as he went to grab two wine glasses.
alt-keira:
“Always.” She smiled at him, a small laughter escaping from her lips. Keira was never had much stability in her life, she had been in relationships before, some lasting a while, but it always came down to her on her own. She was used to that. James was probably the person who had been in her life longest at this point. “Oh my, you are a true friend. Think I can get away with 22?” She teased, winking at him. “Thank you, you really didn’t have to.” She said, opening the gift that James got her. She felt her breath hitch when she opened it. “James, it’s beautiful.” She said in a soft voice, her fingers tracing along it. “Really, it’s too much.” She said, looking up at him once more. “Can- can you put it on me?” She asked, taking it out and putting the box down. “I am sure it will be amazing.” Keira grinned at him. “You know me, never showing up empty handed. Or without alcohol.” She laughed.
There were three people in James’ life that he knew that he would always have no matter what, Michael, Jen and Keira. Ever since he moved to the US he didn’t get much time to actually travel back home outside of maybe a few times here and there. Laughing at her comment he smiled “Well I think you could get away with it, you do have a young face.” He stated the smile never really leaving his face, “Yeah I know but you never have to get me things and you always do.” He responded, eyes never really leaving her face watching her reaction and he felt a small wave of relief when he noticed she liked it. “Nothing is too much when it comes to you.” He commented without really thinking about it, he didn’t retract on it though and nodded his head when she asked to put it on, “Yeah of course.” he pulled out the bracelet before gently taking her arm into his before clasping the item on with a smile, “Perfect.” laughing, “You and I both with the alcohol.”
alt-keira:
“Well, it seemed that your effort was well worth it.” Keira teased as she stepped into his apartment. It wasn’t the first time she had been here for James to cook dinner and it probably wasn’t going to be the last but there was something in the air that just felt different. She couldn’t put her finger on it. She was probably being crazy and snapped out of it to look back at James. “Ah, thank you. Wish that number would start going backwards now.” She teased. “Thank you. And thank you for cooking dinner, it all smells so good.” She said, reaching into her bag and passing him a bottle of wine. “This is for having me.”
“Thank you, glad that someone noticed my efforts.” James smiled as he looked at his friend though if he were honest they were more than just friends with each other and they always would be. He wasn’t the best of cooks, well he was pretty good with cooking it was the baking that he wasn’t the best with, but when it came to Keira he always felt a need to impress her with his skills. “Hey you just tell me what age you want to be called and I’ll start tellin’ everyone.” He assured her before he held out the small package that he had picked out for her, “It’s not much but when I saw this it just called to me.” He stated it was a small silver bracelet with small Aquamarine gems along it. “As for dinner I hope that it tastes as good as it smells, oh you didn’t have too. I love having you.” He commented as he took the bottle from her, “Though I love this.”
alt-keira:
Being with James always made her happy. They had been through a lot in the past but now it seemed they were closer than ever and Keira appreciated having him in her life. He just seemed to get her in a way that no one else in her life did. It was like no matter what was happening in their life, they would always find their way back to one another, like they had something pulling them together. She shook her head, if she thought about that too much it would get too complicated and given her fleet of feelings she felt resurfacing, it was not a place she wanted to go. Not tonight. Keira smiled when she saw him standing in front of her. “Hey!” She beamed, going into give him a kiss on the cheek. “You don’t look too shabby yourself.” The woman smiled.
There was so much history between him and Keira, if you ever told him that he had to call one person and one person only to save his life it would be her. They were like magnets, often they were facing the wrong way to actually stick and often repelled each other. James for the longest time stopped himself from feeling anything towards the woman, especially until his divorce was officially in place which as of nine am this morning it was. Chuckling as she kissed his cheek he returned the motion as he placed a quick kiss to hers as well before he was moving to let her fully step inside his place. “Thank you it took almost all day to get myself to look even this decent.” He teased as he motioned his hand in front of himself, “Though happy belated birthday my dear.”

Keira was looking forward to going over to James’. She was also thankful that he suggested going to his place because she was not in the mood for going out. Birthdays were never something she celebrated. There was too much attatched to it and now it was just a reminder of the face she was getting older, not something she needed. So, a night in with her friend was what she needed. She kept it causal with some mom jeans a white body suit and just some light make up. Although James told her not to bring anything, she couldn’t not do that so she stopped off at the store and picked up a bottle of red wine for them before driving to his place. Keira ran her hand through her hair and looked in her mirror. Why did she feel nervous? It was just James, right? Right. She grabbed the wine and headed to his door, knocking and waiting on him to answer.

James stood in his kitchen with his phone in his pocket just in case something came up, in the oven he had the two steaks finishing up while on the stove top he was cooking up some asparagus with onion sautéing in one pan while in the other he had some potatoes frying. He lifted the glass of whiskey to his lips as he took a small sip, he knew that Keira wasn’t big on birthdays but he still wanted to do something nice for her and wanted to make sure to celebrate her like she deserved. Placing his glass down on the countertop as he turned off the oven and pulled out the pan to let the steak rest, his attire was kept as casual as it got for him anyways in a blue button down that was rolled to the elbow and a pair of dark jeans. He left the kitchen to make sure to grab his gift for the female and returned to the living room as he turned on the tv setting it to some soft music playing. He felt nervous about all of it, it felt so intimate in a way he took a deep breath just as he heard a knock on the door and suddenly his heart picked up speed. Moving to the door he opened it and gave her a wide smile, “Hello gorgeous.”
(text from Keira): So I think Santa may have got confused and left some gifts here with your name on it.

”Ah see, only took knowing you 20 years to admit that I am not worth arguing with.” Keira teased. No matter what had happened in the past between them, they had been in each other’s lives so long that all the hurt just seemed to melt away. She knew he would always be her friend for life. “Perfect!” she smiled, before glancing over at their selections. Once she put in their orders she looked over at James. “You know I really regret not getting you a birthday badge and party hat.” She chuckled. “Do you think this is the type of place that the waiters will sing to you?”
James laughed shaking his head some at her comment, “I really could have stretched out those years and you would have been non the wiser.” He teased back with a wink, he was glad that even after everything that Keira never really left his side. Even if their friendship was a little blurred at times he knew no matter what they would be there for each other in the end. He scanned over the menu for a moment to figure out what he wanted before placing his order in then looked at her narrowing his eyes some, “Or we can skip the birthday song and tell them it’s our anniversary that way we both get the desert and you wont have to steal from mine which we both know that is your real plan there.” He stated with a smile as he looked over at her.
alt-keira:
“You know us Brits, can’t be too direct about anything. Have to do it in passive aggressive ways.” Keira laughed. She was actually just glad that James liked it. She had stressed about what to get him. They weren’t dating but were slightly blurring the line of just friends. So she was happy he liked it. Keira knew that she should pull herself away from all this, before she got too in her own feelings but there was something about James that always pulled her in. “Why thank you.” She grinned, sitting down and looking over the menu. “Shall we just order some a bottle of wine for the table?”
James laughed shaking his head at her comment, “I’d argue with you but I’d just arguing a lie because I know all to well.” He stated with a smile on his face the whole time, this felt different to him nothing to drastic but something about all of it felt like something from the past but better. He didn’t know how being in a blurred line of friendship and relationship was better than anything but it just felt that way for him. Taking his seat after she was settled he was casting a glance at the menu scanning over it before he was looking at her with a smile, “You know what that sounds perfect to me, a bottle of wine would be good.”

Okay question, what is one skill you don’t have that you wished you did? Because I just went down a rabbit hole of watching tap dancers on YouTube and they all make it look so easy? It’s just tapping your feet, right? Wrong. It’s so hard and now I am upset my mother never forced me into tap classes to become the next Gene Kelly.
Honestly I think for me the skill I wish I had would be playing the violin. I can play the piano and guitar but I can not for the life of me learn the violin.
alt-keira:
“No, no. Not a bad outfit. Just a bad watch.” She said with a smirk. “That was the hint with the new one.” Keira laughed. “Perfect!” Keira said, linking his arm as they walked to the cab. She got to the restaurant and tip the cab driver before getting out. “I’ve been dying to try this place so thank you for letting me take you here.” She smiled, before giving her name to the hostess and being shown their seats.
James gave out a laugh and shook his head, it was time for a new watch anyways he had that other one way to long. “Well at least you are honest about that, though took you long enough to tell me it was a bad watch.” He stated with a smile on his face, it felt like old times before things got complicated between the two of them. Hand moving to rest upon her arm as they walked happy that he was able to have this moment with her to be able to spend this time with her, that she was willing to spend time with him. Getting out with her at the restaurant walking inside of the building smiling as they were guided towards the table he pulled out the chair for Keira once they arrived and smiled, “Your chair miss.”
alt-keira:
Keira looked at him and pushed her lips together. “Just a few?” She teased. Keira thought it was best to just keep the night on the topic of light conversations. It was his birthday and she was taking him out but it was nothing more than that. She couldn’t let herself fall down that hole. Keira smiled at he changed the watches. “Yeah I didn’t want to say anything before but that watched totally brought down the whole look.” She laughed. Keira looked over at him when he kissed her cheek. “Don’t you forget it.” She smirked. “Ready to go?”
James arched a brow before he laughed it was a reasonable response, he did enjoy a good glass or two of whiskey. Though he wanted to make sure to not drink to much so he could go into this, date dinner whatever it was they were doing, with a clear head. They would have to sit down one night and actually finally talk about this, or more so he would have to sit down and make his mind up, which it kind of already was. “You were going to let me walk out with a terrible outfit look, I thought we were friends.” He teased before nodding his head, “More than ready.”
