I stumbled into the Chelsea Market Artists & Fleas market yesterday evening based on a photo Stern Design Works had posted on Instagram recently. And boy was I rewarded!

I met Adrian who was working the booth (a both with a giant space shuttle hanging over it) and she actually recognized me from our own Startoralist Instagram feed. It was a major startorial milestone. ;)

Anyway, Stern Design Works made the most amazing cast metal jewelry. They actually 3D print their designs first which they have right in the both! Then the transform the 3D printed design into a metal cast via lost waxy molding. So cool!

My eye was immediately drawn to all the space-y designs they have (bottom photo) including: astronaut, SR-71 Blackbird, Bell X-1, Soyuz, Space Shuttle, and Space Shuttle w/ cargo bay and Canada-arm. The biggest selection is available in their booth at Chelsea Market, but some of the designs are available online as well:

SR-71 Blackbird (in silver or brass)

Astronaut (small or large)

Space Shuttle, fully stacked w/ external tank and boosters (silver or brass)

They are also completely open to custom designs….! SQUEE!
