This hotel was revamped with sustainable and recycled materials - we love it!
"Very close to Constitution Square and the Roman Ruins of Plaka, the hotel was originally built in the 1940s. In their first major hotel project, the Campanas kept many of the old hotel’s existing materials, including a black marble staircase. But to give it a sustainable, contemporary uplift, they added new materials – such as solid bamboo floors and tables and corridors laid with bark cloth from Uganda – and hand made several one-of-a-kind decorative and furniture pieces.
To realize this project, the brothers engaged undergraduate architecture students from the University of Thessaly, who were especially helpful in infusing the whole project with three underlying cultural themes, namely folklore, the evil eye, and old Athens. Their attention to the city’s socio-cultural context gives this magnificent hotel that little extra human touch."

Earlier we posted about Pharrell's investment in Bionic Yarn, a sustainable company. Here's a great video of Pharrell and Tyson Toussant, the CEO, talking about Bionic Yarn and the importance of shopping for sustainable products.
"Go green as the creative duo behind Bionic Yarn, brand ambassador Pharrell Williams and founder/CEO Tyson Toussant, talks to Complex about products produced by using fibers collected from recycled plastic bottles. Some Bionic Yarn collaborations include Timberland, Kiehl’s, Moncler and GAP Japan, amongst others. “If you build smart and shop smart, you’re living smart. It’s Bionic,” says Pharrell. Learn more about it above."

Levi's Sculpture by Ian McChesney
Remember us posting about the Water<Less jeans by Levi's? Well here's the awesome installation by Ian McChesney!
"British architect Ian McChesney designed the sculpture for Levi’s as part of the Regent Street Windows Project in London.
Coinciding with the launch of the Levi’s® Water<Less jeans – made using significantly less water, this sculpture is based on water and fluidity – over 100 pairs of jeans are fixed together in the form of a giant whirlpool. The piece uses 120 pairs of jeans riveted together using over 1000 copper rivets. It measures 9.4 x 4.8m and is 3m high. It was designed by Ian McChesney and Fabricated by ‘millimetre’."

Ambre + Ryan Leslie for Salvation Army.
(All photos are screen shots of video taken by Annie Hawkins)
Ryan Leslie is not only a Grammy nominated artist and producer, but he is an amazing person. With many thanks to Ryan I got to attend his concert at SOB's in New York City on November 22, 2010. He gave me VIP treatment and his concert was nothing less than amazing. We have kept in touch and I presented this project to Ryan and received his support. I have created some Next Selection 4 life (NS4LIFE) dog tags in support of Ryan and his inspiring work ethic, music, and positive influence. We decided that all profits will go to benefit the Salvation Army, where both of his parents are officers.
This project would not have been possible without Kandyce Groesbeck and Joey Traum. Thanks to Evan Rogers for helping coordinate meeting with Ryan. And of course, a special thanks to Ryan Leslie for believing in my vision and supporting this project.

Ambre + Spanky + StarStruK for Japan.
This weekend we got to Spread The Word about Ambre Industries to Lady Gaga’s band and dancers thanks to her drummer and our friend, Spanky. Owning a sneaker shop for 2 years put me a network of amazing people. One person I was blessed to meet was Spanky. He is an amazingly talented drummer (the best in my opinion), but on top of that he is an amazing person and friend. He came through my old sneaker shop “10” when he was touring with Kanye and he was back in town this weekend while touring with Lady Gaga. My close friend Joey and I hung out with him the weekend he was in Salt Lake City with Lady Gaga's Monster Ball Tour, and it was a blast. To celebrate a new project Spanky, Joey and I are starting I gave him a custom piece made by us, Ambre Industries. One of the most incredible people I know, Kandyce Groesbeck, and I have started Ambre Industries and loved an opportunity to make Spanky some thing to start Spanky’s project off right. Here’s a picture of Spanky wearing his “StarStruK” dog tag yesterday (and he rocked the concert last night, I was blown away).
We made Spanky a custom dog tag necklace which is now available in our store and all the proceeds are going to Japan relief. We also made Lady Gaga an awesome piece. We know that her assistant got it, and hope Lady Gaga loves it! We are inspired by her dedication to her fans and helping people be brave about who they are. Check out the pieces we made:

Ambre x Ronny Turiaf for Heart to Heart.
Ronny Turiaf and Annie Hawkins met at Gonzaga University in 2001 where Ronny played basketball and Annie played soccer for the University. They now are working together to spread the word about Ronny's Heart to Heart Foundation.
Ronny Turiaf was drafted 37th overall in the first round 2005 NBA Draft. He played for the Los Angeles Lakers from 2006-2008. He was a member of the Golden State Warriors from 2008-2010. He now plays for the New York Knicks.
On July 26, 2005, Ronny underwent a successful six-hour open-heart surgery at Stanford Medical Center.
In August of 2009, inspired by his own experience, Ronny started the Heart to Heart Foundation to spread heart health awareness and education to underprivileged children and families. The Foundation seeks to provide community classrooms with defibrillators and educational materials on the importance of heart health awareness as well as providing funding for early detection tests.
Ronny’s passions exist both on and off the court and he remains committed to utilizing his NBA career to make an impact in the world. Both he and Annie are hoping this project makes a difference through Ronny's Heart to Heart Foundation.

All products are designed by Annie Hawkins... "The success that manifests from a project is always a direct correlation of the talent and character within the people that help the idea become a reality. Thanks to Ronny for believing in my idea and giving me the opportunity to see it out."

We are proud to say we have an awesome collaboration in the works and on the way with Coalition! We can't wait to show you. Good work Natalie!
"SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A Utah group is attempting to change the world, one child at a time. A University of Utah student Natalie Durham has started a child help group, called Coalition. The group plans to give sports equipment and other essential items to needy children around the world. Coalition has over 120 members already and was just started in December of 2010. "In my mind there is nothing better than helping a child discover a passion and changing their life forever." Said Durham. The Coalition team has been gathering sports gear for their first trip to Peru. Coalition plans to travel to Mexico, and India, after their trip to Peru. Durham felt thankful for her experiences as an athlete, and wanted to give back. People wanting to help Coalition can visit www.coalitionsc.com, or add them on Facebook at www.facebook.com/coalitionbethedifference."

Pharrell has been doing a lot of community oriented projects lately. But, when someone is doing so many good things in the world - you gotta spread the word and the love. Pharrell's most recent project is The Pharrell Williams Resource Center. I look young enough to attend, maybe they won't check my identification. But seriously, this would be an amazing place to experience or be a part of - as a student, an employee, or a volunteer.
"Recording artist and producer (and Virginia Beach native) Pharrell Williams is partnering with the City of Virginia Beach to build a resource center, in Williams Farm Park. The purpose of the center is to provide an environment conducive to learning and serve as a place to “inspire and educate”. The Center’s programs will seek to change the world of the underserved kids, one kid at a time, by giving them resources/tools to meet their unique potential. The vision of the center is to modernize the community center concept by empowering kids to learn through new technologies, arts, and media"

Tales From A 3-form Traveler.
Erika is the executive assistant to the CEO of 3-form. But more than that, she has been an incredible source of support, help, and encouragement during the development of ambre industries. We are blessed to have her, and blessed to call her a friend! Thanks Erika!
It seems as though many times when we go by Erika's office she has another fabulous travel story to tell us and some great pictures to compliment the story. We are going to let you all (and us) live vicariously through her travel tales here on our blog. Here is the first of many to come...
"So what do you call the “I’ll just die if I don’t do it” list? It is so much more than a bucket list. Well, this “I’ll just die if I don’t do it” list is the list that held my first trip to Europe. I have planned to do this ever since I can remember. I am quite serious about mentioning “ever since I can remember.” I have wanted to travel by the time I was four years old. I was always an independent child exploring whatever I could. I had grand plans and a firm pact to backpack Europe with my friend Megan. Well, sometimes life just seems to happen, and finally, my chance to discover Europe came to me this spring at 36 years old. I decided to go to Paris and the South of France for 12 days. I really hoped to be able to soak up the living culture of France along with its past. I knew that 12 days including travel time to see France was a bit unrealistic, but at least maybe I could have a taste of the finesse of France. Packing surprised me. I managed to pack light for me. I took 4 shirts, 4 pairs of pants, 2 pairs of shoes and enough underwear and socks to make my mother proud. I took a pair of Ambre earrings (black lasso), a pair of feather earrings and a gold puff-heart necklace (the first piece of jewelry I ever purchased.) Typically crafters impart a piece of love in what they create. Every time I look at each of them, they now remind me of the new world I experienced, and how a piece of third world artisans and a Salt Lake City designer journeyed with me on my travels. France did not disappoint! It helped to open my eyes to even more possibilities out there. A way of life is subjective, and that all time spent in life is valuable and precious. The South of France was my favorite. I spent my time with warm, sweet people. I could feel the history pouring out of the stones of medieval convents and castles. I rode a motorcycle for the first time through green rolling hills, hanging on tight and smiling through my visor at the meadows full of happy cows gazing at my excitement. I ate farm fresh goat cheese; community sustained agriculture; delicious rich caffé and learned about Agriculture Biologique, France’s version of Organic, which is just a little more intense than the US version. I also managed to squeeze in 3 days in Barcelona, Spain and was truly astounded by Gaudi’s organic designs, but that is another story. Well, I am happy to be back home now, but I am already planning my next trip abroad. India is a calling me! Hopefully, my next trip will happen sooner than later!"
