Eva Longoria is everything
Yet she canât even speak Spanish đđ đđ đ
Thatâs pride alright lmfao
She donât have to, but donât talk all that shit if you donât even learn your own culture #lame
you were saying @dabeatnik???
ummm
âWhen I was growing up, my parents spoke to each other in Spanish, but they didnât speak to us in Spanish because they were told not to. In school we werenât allowed to speak it.â
and also???
â⊠But America is the only country that promotes monolingualism. Here itâs English, English, English. Every other country makes their children learn a second language very early on. So as my political and social activism grew, I was like, âI really need to learn Spanish.â So I did.âÂ
idk how many people iâve known growing up in texas whose parents speak fluent spanish but they donât speak a lick solely because their parents were afraid or told not to teach their children. itâs unspeakably common and doesnât in any way shape or form diminish someoneâs claim to or pride in their heritage.Â
fuck that guy. you go eva.Â
lack of intergenerational language exchange is one of the leading causes of language death for endangered and indigenous languages because of this culture of shame attached to âlesserâ coded languages so frankly if yr mocking people for not speaking their mother tongue without taking the colonial reasons for this into account, youâre an ignorant prick and you can go fuck yourself like
My dad was beaten by the teachers whenever he spoke Chinese in class as a child. Â He refused to teach me because he figured it would only bring me more of the same. Â And, being Toisanese, itâs not a dialect you can just go pick up a book or CD lesson plan and go learn. Â Â
It wasnât a lack of pride in my family, it was white supremacy and white pride that beat the words out of a child and scarred them for life, thatâs what got us here.
u literally got republicans out here saying dying doesnât kill people

âThat doesnât make any senseâŠ. but it works!âÂ
Suicidal people deserve better than to be told the main reason they shouldnât kill themselves is because of how it might effect others. Suicidal people deserve love and help, not guilt trips. Suicidal people deserve to feel like their life is worth living, for their own sake⊠for their own happiness, their own experiences, their own possibilities, their own future.
america please import this concept
they are not âandrogynous girlsâ
they are nonbinary. they self-identify as genderless. their fans refer to them as meishaonian, or âhandsome youths.â
the band is called FFC-Acrush, by the way.
while the Cosmopolitan articles cites the Quartz article, Cosmo at least respects the musicians and their agent enough to use the correct gendered language.
the Quartz article is full of really terrible transphobia and wrong usage of gendered language.

The Anti-Defamation League released a statement calling Lopez-Pierreâs statement a âdeeply offensive anti-Semitic stereotype.â
Thomas Lopez-Pierre says heâs not an anti-Semite.
He just believes a cabal of âgreedy Jewish landlordsâ is conspiring, funded by money from Israel, to conduct âethnic cleansingâ of black and Latino residents from Harlem. He believes the Jewish media are covering it up.
And if his rhetoric makes Jews upset?
âToo bad,â he says. âI donât care.
âOnly now am I realizing that Jewish people canât seem to separate themselves from each other,â he told JTA in an interview Friday. âAn attack on greedy Jewish landlords is perceived to be an attack on all Jews. And you know what? Too bad. If thatâs the way the Jewish community wants to take it, too bad.â
Lopez-Pierre is running a primary campaign against Democratic City Council member Mark Levine, who since 2014 represents a district covering much of West Harlem in Upper Manhattan. Lopez-Pierre previously ran for the seat in 2013, unsuccessfully.
His screed against Jewish landlords is at the center of his campaign. His Twitter bio reads âJewish landlords OWN 80% of private rental buildings in Upper Manhattan; GUILTY of GREED for pushing Black/Hispanic tenants out.â
The Anti-Defamation League released a statement calling Lopez-Pierreâs statement a âdeeply offensive anti-Semitic stereotype.â
During a 20-minute conversation, I tried to extract why Lopez-Pierre thought the landlordsâ religion was important. He repeated the 80 percent figure â but wouldnât provide any evidence for it â and launched into a lecture on what he called âgroup economics,â or how members of a certain ethnicity or religion work together for their mutual benefit.
âIf they were Italian, I would say Italian,â he said. âWe live in neighborhoods based on race, class and religion. Itâs a fantasy to believe otherwise. There are Jewish neighborhoods, there are Puerto Rican neighborhoods, there are Jamaican neighborhoods, there are Indian neighborhoods.â
Lopez-Pierre alleged that there was a scheme among Jewish landlords in Harlem to take investment money from Israel, buy apartment buildings in the historically black neighborhood and push tenants out.
âThese Jewish landlords are using their ownership to engage in ethnic cleansing of black and Latino tenants,â he said. And he added that Jewish journalists choose not to report on it.
âYour colleagues in the Jewish media, they donât want to talk about this,â he said. âBut maybe you have a pair of balls. Iâd be impressed.â
Lopez-Pierre says heâs a licensed real-estate broker. Heâs also behind a series of apparent business ventures in Harlem to promote African-American patronage of African-American-owned businesses, but itâs unclear how active any of them are.
One venture was the âHarlem Restaurant Book,â a guide to black-owned restaurants in the neighborhood. But now, the website harlemrestaurantbook.com is the homepage for the Harlem Family Eviction Prevention Fund, a tenantsâ rights group also chaired by Lopez-Pierre. The fund has an empty events calendar, and its record of âbad landlord newsâ ends in 2015. Lopez also created a site for the Harlem Real Estate Fund, where heâs the only employee.
At least one venture of Lopez-Pierreâs appears to have netted him some cash. According to the New York Post, he raised more than $5,000 with a crowdfunding campaign by pretending it was an effort to oppose him.
Lopez-Pierre dismissed the idea that he was engaging in anti-Semitic bigotry.
âIf Jewish doctors are angry with me because Iâm attacking greedy Jewish landlords, if Jewish social workers are upset with me because Iâm attacking greedy Jewish landlords, too bad, I donât care,â he said. âItâs not my job to care about their feelings.â
You know how I talk about Left Wing antisemitism and how most on the Left like to pretend that antisemitism is the purview of the Right alone? This his a fine example of Leftist âanti-racistâ antisemitism. Lopez-Pierre is using antisemitic canards that the Nazis drew on, that the Soviets drew on, that are far far older than he knows or cares about.
Antisemitism has been called the socialism of fools, because it was fed to the European working classes by wealthy gentile landlords and industrialists. Oh no, weâre not oppressing you, itâs those Jewish moneylenders (who have to pay exorbitant fees to their gentile lord), itâs those Jewish rent collectors (collecting the rent their gentile employers demand) itâs your Jewish neighbors, who even if they look just as poor as you are secretly hoarding stolen wealth. When things get too hot, when the peasants get too restless, weâll just have a pogrom, and then with all the Jews dead or chased off, weâll confiscate their property. Win win!
Most bigotry relies on the idea that the bigoted in-group is superior to the despised out-group, more capable, smarter, worthier. Antisemitism can be based on this, but it just as often based around the idea of Jews as better, but evil, smarter, more capable, more organized, more powerful. Our subhuman status relies not on notions of us as beasts of burden, but on the idea that weâre demonic, possessed of power we do not deserve.
This makes antisemitism particularly insidious and easy to accommodate to Leftist views as well as those of the Right. If the Left is concerned with oppression, and powerful people taking advantage of the weak, thereâs this whole ready-made mythology about the powerful Jewish conspiracy oppressing the poor innocent gentile working classes. Itâs easy to just add the Jewish people to the ranks of the oppressor class, even if this is the opposite of true, and historically, Jewish people have been poor, disenfranchised, powerless, and at the mercy of the gentiles they lived among.
The conspiracy and categorizing element to the notion of Jewish oppressive power is why as Lopez-Pierre says, âJewish people canât seem to separate themselves from each other.â We understand that we are all tarred by the conspiracy brush. A Jewish journalist is held culpable for the actions of supposed Jewish landlords. Heâs in cahoots somehow. A broke Jewish teacher like me is likewise in cahoots. We know that we will not be judged separately from our Jewishness. We know a rising tide of antisemitism sinks all Jewish people together.
Well said, thank you.

the private you
applies to both Moon and IC. the private you, but also a deep part of you. it's possible that you can relate to it more than any other signs because it's a deep part of you, it's your foundation
Aries IC/Aries Moon: needs independence from loved ones, so isn't always present. this need isn't obvious though. quick to react. privately wilful and sexual. wants to explore all things and all desires and not hold back. inwardly feels separated from everyone. intense feelings dominate but this is not obvious, feelings often kept hidden. secretly wants to be alone, might feel bad for admitting it so just does things alone anyway. not afraid to act by itself.
Taurus IC/Taurus Moon: privately very stubborn and resistant, and privately needs comfort in all things. wants to have beautiful things and comfortable things, but in private, comfortable settings (i.e. they might pretend that comfort isn't a priority for them to not seem like babies, when really it is). privately lazy and loving. rarely change their lives once it is in a settled pattern. emotionally blunt.
Gemini IC/Gemini Moon: wants to have an intellectually stimulating open house system. inwardly feels bipolar and changeable. cleverness is kept private, as are all their thoughts. interested and observant of everyone but doesn't make this known. usually do not express emotion and tend to intellectualise just about everything.
Cancer IC/Cancer Moon: whatever they own will be held very closely. wants to belong to a close-knit circle so close that they consider themselves family. tends to protect and take care of. inwardly is an emotional mess and nostalgic but this is kept private. feel a lot, but rarely express a lot. sensitive to anything from their past. easy to express simple emotions like joy, but not easy to be vulnerable and show anything deep.
Leo IC/Leo Moon: wants to be the entertainer but in private, comfortable settings. inwardly feels special and creative. ego can dominate but is kept private (i.e., you'll deny that feelings or ego dominate) the full extent of your creative gifts may also be kept private, but you inwardly feel very creative. needs to feel regal and august.
Virgo IC/Virgo Moon: very helpful and competent, but privately. domestically refined, secretly critical. very perfectionistic and usually doesn't express emotion. wants to be of use to people but in private, comfortable settings. inwardly feels inadequate or that there is always more they should be doing.
Libra IC/Libra Moon: strong desire for companionship and tend to not enjoy being alone. ask people constantly for advice on what to do. wants to share and be relational, but in private, comfortable settings. inwardly feels sensitive and indecisive. needs to feel equal, i.e. the woman who must feel equal to a man, and vice versa. secretly diplomatic and a peace-keeper. struggles with comparing themselves to others.
Scorpio IC/Scorpio Moon: when emotions hit they are powerful and they feel chaotic. often emotionally dramatic. wants closeness and intensity but pushes people away at the same time. inwardly an emotionally troubled person, tends to hold onto intense hatred. struggles with emotions and whether to act on them or not. despite this, their intensity is only shown to their loved ones.
Sagittarius IC/Sagittarius Moon: feels like they are able or wants to travel and leave home in the blink of an eye. needs to feel free. emotionally irresponsible and will reject whatever does not give them freedom. wants to explore cultures and the world, but in private, comfortable settings. inwardly feels rootless and lost. constant searching.
Capricorn IC/Capricorn Moon: dislikes being shown affection unless they initiate it. needs to feel respected. emotionally responsible and capable. wants recognition but in private, comfortable settings. ambition is strong but can be kept private. inwardly feels serious and does not find it easy to spontaneously express joy or sadness. usually this does not bother them as they prefer to keep to themselves.
Aquarius IC/Aquarius Moon: often feels pressured to express emotion but just can't fake it. needs to feel free and respected for their knowledge and unique traits. wants friendship and kinship. platonic love dominates over romantic. inwardly feels rootless, empty and fiercely resistant. wants to be open and ridiculously funny and eccentric, but in private, comfortable settings.
Pisces IC/Pisces Moon: no emotional boundaries. wants connections that feel special and glamorous to fulfil their own need for something that is so otherworldly. often escapes reality. compassionate and sensitive, but in private, comfortable settings. inwardly feels like a lost soul, so clings to fleeting things that allow them to escape.
I've also found that planets in the 4th house, and Moon aspects to planets can apply here too. i.e., Neptune in the 4th house can relate to the Pisces IC/Moon. Jupiter in the 4th can relate to the Sagittarius IC/Moon, Mercury for Gemini and/or Virgo, etc. Moon-Pluto aspect can relate to Scorpio IC/Scorpio Moon. Moon-Uranus aspect can relate to Aquarius IC/Aquarius Moon.
Examine your IC, 4th house and Moon to explore who you are deep down.
The IC sign is the foundation of your entire chart.
