i don't want the doors to lead to just ... heaven or nothingness. i want it to be more hopeful. maybe a manifestation of the life they should've lived, since the entire show is about hope. opening yourself up to joy, experiences, people. show that endings are not always scary - opening the door of an end brings you more life
i saw on reddit too that people would theorize this - the doors leading to life they should've lived, but the memories would be erase or dormant or forgotten or whatever. and i don't think that's in spirit of the show either. the entire show revolves around people: the joy, the family, the sadness, every emotion they give us. it's essential to the entire fucking show. but also the mark people leave on you - the ghosts are just a manifestation of that. personally, it would make more sense to me if they were all connected in some way - maybe they don't remember somehow, but in the back of their minds, the ghosts pick up tics or quirks or sayings or lessons from the others. maybe they don't know how, maybe they still have their memories, but i think just erasing those connections - which are the heart of the show btw - would be so .. mute. i don't know if i'm wording this well at all but i think my point is across

ON THE OUTSKIRTS, as usual. colette doesn't mind being in the presence of others. it's the interacting part that's become more .. normal. she isn't sure how she feels about that. a natural progression, a natural recession. for what it's worth – after everything, things have .. changed. there's no words to describe it. the lack of vocabulary makes her sick to her stomach. how can they recall the girl that died, then lived again? a not - so natural resurrection. maddie nears did more than she knows. it's dark again, the glow of the red still lingering on the peripheral of sight when she approaches. arms crossed, clutching the stolen jacket to her chest at the brisk air. sits down wordlessly, the grass on the courtyard becoming dew. she clutches her fingernails into the fabric of the jacket, working up the courage to say something. eyes flit the school — personal gethsemane, through and through. “uh – ” a cough, sniff. “how ar-are you 'oing?" after all this.
