One Final Announcement and Thank You
Wow, this one is a long time coming. I really had intended to put something more up here once I had a little time after the dust of the week proper settled, but life has a tendency to happen and I never quite found the chance.
Before anything else, I’d like to think every one of you who followed, participated in, and supported this week. It was really amazing to see so many amazing works and so much excitement around it. It meant so much to me and I really can never thank you all enough.
Now, on to the real point of this announcement.
As you can probably guess from the title, I won’t be running another week next year. My intention, honestly, had been to try for something in the summer, when work and school are a bit slower for a lot of people. The truth of the matter is, I don’t think I’m the person to do it.
When I first started planning this week, I had some super high hopes and big goals and plans for it. In the end, I wasn’t able to deliver even close to everything I wanted. My organization, promotion, and execution all left something to be desired. Some of it came down to aiming too high for my first attempt at running an event like this. Most of it came from the fact that I spent the months between the blog’s launch and the week itself trying to convince myself I didn’t need to reach out for more help and that I could shoulder all of this on my own. The result was an absolutely absurd amount of anxiety and stress for myself and a final ‘product’ that could and should have been a lot better. Every good part of it, everything that went well, is thanks to everyone who stepped in to volunteer their time and talents for prizes, coding, queueing, or just a bit of moral support. Did I mention how grateful I am to all of you?
So, what does that mean for the future of this blog specifically.
I plan to transition over the next few days/weeks into an archive format. This means combing through all of the entries, cleaning up tags, triple-checking that nothing has fallen through the cracks, working up a layout that is better-suited to browsing.
I also plan to change this url to note the archive status.
If anyone happens to be interested in the current url to host an event of their own in the future, feel free to contact me so we can work out a hand-off. Also, if you have a Prompto, Noctis, or Promptis-themed fan event scheduled, feel free to drop me a line here and I would be happy to help get the word out. I still love this pairing and I want to see someone who can do something truly amazing for it.
Again, thank you all so much for everything. I learned a lot through this experience, even if the main thing I learned was that I can’t really handle it! You all made it worthwhile, though.
