NaNoWriMo Encouragement
Last few days! Finish up strong if you have the time! If you don’t, that’s okay too! You’ve made it this far, whether or not you’re going to finish. Continue working on it even after November ends! There’s nothing that says you can only ever work on it in the same month. There’s always more work to do!

Well, here we are! Halfway through! How are you feeling? Going strong? Need a break? Either way, that’s okay! You’re doing great! (And don’t give my how many words behind you may be,or how much you hate what you’ve made if that’s the case. You’re doing great.)
Now is a good time to appreciate your work and reevaluate your story, if you have the time. Have you learned anything about yourself and your own personal process? Has the story strayed from any initial plans? (That can actually be a very good thing!) Are you surprised with what you’ve accomplished? It’s okay if not. That’s normal! We all expect more from ourselves but that doesn’t mean the less we give isn’t good enough.
You’re doing great. I believe in you. Keep writing. The world needs to hear what you have to say!

WHENEVER YOU SEE THIS POST ON YOUR DASH, STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING AND WRITE ONE SENTENCE FOR YOUR CURRENT PROJECT.
Just one sentence. Stop blogging for one minute and write a single sentence. It could be dialogue, it could be a nice description of scenery, it could be a metaphor, I don’t care. The point is, do it. Then, when you finish, you can get back to blogging.
If this gets viral, you might just have your novel finished by next Tuesday.
NaNoWriMo boost! How’s everyone’s project going?
A few days late, but GOOD LUCK to anyone participating in NaNoWriMo!!
It’s gonna be a tough road ahead, but you guys got this!
Here’s a little advice from someone who writes 50k words (often more) every single month: Creating your personalized writing environment helps A LOT.
Carve out your own writing space. I personally prefer a space that is solely my writing space. Not my gaming space or my work space or my relaxation space. Giving yourself a space and a spot that you go to solely to write can really help jump start you into the right mindset day after day. Whether this is a spot in your room, a library, outside, somewhere on campus, a coffeeshop, whatever works for you. Whatever makes you comfy and creative.
Look into an immersive writing program! SERIOUSLY. You don’t understand just how DRAINING looking at google docs or microsoft word or any other program like that is. Just looking at the pages and all the white and all the options and all your computer programs. Hell, even looking at the little red spell check squiggle can throw you out of your groove. Immersive writing programs do WONDERS for eliminating those distractions. Just by removing them from your sight, it helps you ZONE into your writing. There are a lot out there, but I personally use Omm Writer. It’s simple, incredibly clean, and comes with a few options. I usually have a different calming background for different projects (to put me in different mindsets), and I like writing to the typewriter sound. Don’t sleep on tHIS, MY DUDES. This has increased my writing output SO GOTDAM MUCH. And every time I introduce it to a friend, they have the same results.
@wardenalistair recently introduced me to a white noise app called Noisil. And BOI LEMME TELL YOU. It’s subtle, but amazing. You can pick what sounds you like. It works great by itself or layered on top of your music/usual background noise.
If you haven’t caught on, what I’m saying is find your environment and USE that environment every time. EVERY TIME. Find what works for you and roll with it. By creating a creative, stimulating environment to write it and using it constantly, you’re training your brain to get into the Zone™ when introduced to those stimuli. It just… helps so much. It takes some experimenting, but find what works for you
JUST DO IT. IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE PERFECT. NANOWRIMO ISN’T ABOUT PERFECT. FINISHED, NOT PERFECT. It’s about proving to YOURSELF that you can dO IT. SO GET OUT THERE AND DO IT.

Things I realized working on my Nano today:
1. Write the scene you don’t want to write.
I know you don’t want to write the boring bridging scene and you think 1300 words is a pretty good word count for the first day and you don’t even have any ideas for that scene because you had ideas for the scene before and you have ideas for the scene after. Screw that, write it anyway. Yes, it might be bad, yes you’re really not inspired and it feels very bland right now. Write it. WRITE IT. Get to 1700 words with a boring filler scene that is needed for context. Because honestly, if you’re not into writing that boring scene now, you’re not gonna be happy to have to write it on day 25 with 8K words to catch up. Nano isn’t about writing your best novel, you cannot always write your best, Nano is about writing the whole damn thing. Then you’ll edit and rewrite until you make it good, make it best.
2. Pay attention when you read.
I’m not saying read everyday, nobody got the energy for that, but when you do read, pay attention to the words. If the way someone blended dialogue and descriptions together flows well, write it down for later. There is only so many times you can use “As for”, “But her eyes”, “When she”. At some point you get really tired of the way you write things, it doesn’t feel like a style anymore but just the same bits of sentences, simply reorganized with different words. So pay attention to others’ words. Being able to use a phrasing you liked in your own writing will suddenly make you feel a whole lot more talented than you felt ten seconds before. Ride the highs when you can.
3. If you’re inspired to write more, write more.
Don’t settle for the 1667 words, if you’ve got a snippet of scene teasing at you, write it, a writer’s brain is a fickle thing and we don’t want you to forget why it had to happen this way, or this amazing dialogue you made up. If you write 2K today, that’s 200words you won’t have to force out on a bad day. Do it for future you.

Hello! Yesterday was the last day of our daily Inktober prompts, and we hope you had a successful month! That being said, NaNoWriMo is next up! We’ll be reblogging writing tips throughout the month this time!
Unfortunately, there were no entries in the October 2017 writing contest, so there are no winners.
Just a reminder that there is still an art contest this November, and the theme is family/tradition. Submissions for the contest close on the 24th, and winners are announced on the 30th. The winner(s) will be put into our 2017-2018 Hall of Fame and can compete in the September Winners Contest, but more about that later.
About our search for new mods: we will be taking on 1-2 people. The form will be up by the 15th of November, and will stay up until December 15th. The new mod(s) will be announced some time in January. It is a good idea to have a discord.

The cs2 programs date back only a few years, and still have much of the functionality of today’s more modern ones. The differences between most of the versions are little more than slight modifications or additions of minor features, and UI changes. Go for it guys!!
