I’ve been going through a lot lately. I was accepting commissions for $30, and I’ll still be charging that amount — but only for up to two characters. Right now, I’m working on $30 commissions with more than four characters, and it’s becoming too overwhelming. So unfortunately, I’ll have to start charging $60 for illustrations with more than two colored characters. I hope undertand :)

i REFUSE to believe for even a moment, for even a SECOND, that Severus Snape isnt just straight up, unironically, Lucius Malfoy's sugar baby. And Narcissa's too, for that matter. A man like Snape? Tall, slim, with memorable and striking features? He is built for fashion. He is born for The Runway™ and Narcissa Malfoy née Black can never resist the urge to dress him up in pretty things any more than Lucius Malfoy can resist buying and watching him wear said pretty things.

Snape may or may not realize it, but he is absolutely, unequivocally, undeniably being sugared out of his mind.

It means a lot to me that Snape does what he does to undermine Voldemort even while canonically terrified of him.

Snape pales noticeably when he is asked to return to Voldemort. In Occlumency lessons, he gets distinctly uncomfortable at Harry’s slinging his name around like it’s nothing:

“Dumbledore is an extremely powerful wizard,” Snape muttered. “While he may feel secure enough to use the name ... the rest of us ...”

His report to Dumbledore of Voldemort’s anger over losing the diary conveys enough of his fear that Dumbledore describes it to Harry as “terrible to behold”. He hesitates for the space of a heartbeat before entering the Death Eater meeting in The Dark Lord Ascending. And of course, he pales until his face resembles a “death mask” as he understands that the borrowed time he has been living on is up. And on each of these occasions, we see him continue his difficult work anyways.

These small moments give us a glimpse of the human under the mask that Snape presents to Voldemort, and help us start to understand the considerable toll that his work must have taken on him.

YES. I don't know why people seem to think the whole process was just about putting up his shields or something mechanical like that. Voldemort tortured a Death Eater for... No reason at all, when he first returned. Snape had sent him to his death, triggered the mechanism that made the killing curse backfire, switched sides, protected Harry in front of him, kept him away from the stone, and tried to get Sirius kissed (while believing Sirius to be on Voldemort's side). The man was walking on a fraying tightrope. It would have been terrible writing to make him particularly zen about it all.

The Hidden Tragedy of Snape's Sacrifice is He Died at 20, Not 38

Where does the idea of selfish Severus Snape and his possessive love come from? Do people really believe that Snape died in the Shrieking Shack at 38, at the hands of Voldemort? Do they honestly think that, until he was 38, he lived a normal, happy life, full of hope and dreams, right up until that last minute when everything was suddenly ripped away from him?

Snape didn’t just die in that moment. His life ended 18 years earlier, when he was 20 years old, standing on a hill in front of Dumbledore. That’s when he gave up everything—his freedom, his future, and his life—in exchange for the safety of the Potter family: James, Lily, and Harry.

From that moment on, Snape no longer lived for himself. He had no control over his own fate; his life had been bargained away to protect others. Every step he took after that was part of a long, ongoing sacrifice.

People say they don’t like Snape because he didn’t make up for his mistakes the way he should have, that his redemption arc wasn’t complete. Excuse me? I’m not sure what more a person can give than their life. What’s more precious than their time and youth? What’s more important than their freedom? Snape sacrificed all of that—what else did he even have left to give?

He was barely out of his teenage years when he chose to give up everything—his youth, his dreams, his ambitions, even his loyalty—for people who didn’t care about him. Yet, Snape stayed on that path with unwavering courage for the next 18 years, never backing down.

In truth, Severus Snape was a boy who lost his life at 20. The only thing is, they didn’t bury him until he was 38.
