Percy Shelley judging on point
And as to America, I remember an observation of his, “that it was easier to form than unform or reform, and that even the United States were too young for us to judge of their duration; that the President had more power than the head of a constitutional government ought to have; a power too dangerous,—a wider field for corruption;” and Shelley hated slavery too sincerely in all its forms, not. to reprobate the existence of that crying evil, a disgrace to humanity, and the eighteenth century.
there's this weird thing people fall into online a lot, where people assume that if the [perceived-to-be-inferior] version of [activity] is discouraged then people will, naturally, do [perceived-to-be-superior] version of [activity] instead. When really it's just as (or more) likely that if [perceived-to-be-inferior] version of [activity] is discouraged people just won't do it at all.
audiobook listeners are not necessarily people who would otherwise do a lot of traditional reading if audiobooks did not exist, many are people who simply would experience zero books. Booktok romance readers would not necessarily be reading the classics if booktok did not exist, many of them would simply not read. Fanfiction writers would not necessarily be novelists if fanfic wasn't an option, many would just be people who didn't write. You know?
[through tears] yeah i remain whimsical

Don’t start hyping up these Bethesda projects while people are protesting right now. We’re not doing that. I don’t give a fuck about these stupid fucking games when there’s hundreds of people out of a job because of cutting corners. I am not hyping up these games and I am not supporting them and I’m not going to give them any positive attention until they acknowledge the damage they’ve done.

fantastic. i love it. i posted this after my wife said it yesterday and as i was doing it i was like "this can't be an original thought. as soon as i hit post someone's going to say 'you stole this from a tweet from 2014' and i'll say 'no, i stole it from my beautiful wife.'"
Friendly reminder that age verification is NOT safe, i repeat
THIS SHIT IS NOT SAFE!
Paleontologists recently unearthed the largest tibia ever recorded. Of course, they threw a party to celebrate at the site, and I hear it was quite a shindig.
