Welcome to Prosperity Station! You are one of the lucky few to have won the lottery to get a chance to live in Prosperity’s grand residential halls. Over two billion people entered the lottery and you are one of only fifty to win. So congratulations and welcome!

Hello there and welcome to the WIP of Prosperity Station! So, what is it all about?

Prosperity Station is a standalone sci-fi horror interactive novel. You play as a brand new resident of the famous Prosperity Station. You think life is going to be great and easy on the station, but then you start to pick up hints that something more sinister is going on. All is not as it seems on Prosperity and it seems that evil things lurk in the shadows…things with claws and many teeth.

Prosperity Station is a big project. With two almost entirely different routes you can take, I estimate that in the end it will easily be over one million words, with over 150k words per playthrough. I won’t lie, it’s probably going to take me a few years to complete it. I promise though, on my heart of hearts, I will never give up on this project. Prosperity Station is my baby, and I will see it through to completion.

The demo currently consists of the first chapter and is 117k in total and around 29k words per average play through.

Chapter Two Is Here!!

Well at long last here we are…

Chapter two is a 117K words update bringing the WIP up to 164K words in total with an average of 29K words per playthrough! 

I have no excuse as to why this took me so long. My life has been hectic the last year and I’ve been left with little time or motivation to write. But like I said, I’m not giving up on this project!

Chapter three is in progress slowly. I’m not going to give an estimate date as that went so well last time but hopefully it shouldn’t take a year this time! Hopefully…

The main reason the update has taken so long is I’ve gotten a new job a little further out from my home and the commute takes up many hours of my day, so on work days I have little to no time to write and on days off, I’m simply recovering and have no motivation to write. I am planning to move closer to work by the end of the year and get myself a proper writing set-up, so hopefully, come the new year, I should have a lot more time on my hands to focus on writing!

With this new chapter there’s a few extra things I’m looking for from tester aside from the usual spelling mistakes and such. While writing, I lost track of how many character ‘relationship points’ I was rewarding the reader. So as such, I’m not sure if I’ve set the boundaries for certain relationship checks too high or too low. (For explain, please let me know if you’ve been horrible to someone like Silas but he inexplicable is nice to you and the same goes for other characters). I am going to rework how I’ve given out the points eventually, but for the time being, feedback on that would be super helpful! As an added bonus, if you could attach a screenshot of your stats page once you reach the end of chapter two, that would be amazing!

Other then that, continuity is going to be a big thing I’ll need feedback on. It’s been over a year since I really touched chapter one, so I might have found myself repeating bits the PC or other characters already know. So if you find anything that feels odd continuity wise, please let me know!

Other then that, just general feedback will be great! I’m sure spelling mistakes and grammatical errors will have slipped through plenty of times. Also just let me know what you like! What works and what doesn’t!

Progress Update - 18/05/22

Hey, hello, hi! So sorry I’ve been so quiet over the past few weeks. A lot has been going on with my life and it’s all just left me feeling kinda…blergh…

I wanted to just write a quick update to say I haven’t abandoned Prosperity Station, I am still very much working away at it, albeit, not as fast as I would like. Chapter Two is currently sitting at 30k words and is maaaaybe nearly halfway done.

I know I said in my last update, that I hoped to get Chapter Two out by the end of April…and here we are now at the end of May...so that really worked out well for me! I’m bad at trying to come up with an estimate of how long updates will take me, so for now, I’m not going to give even an estimated date until I’m further along with progress. 

I’m sorry it’s taking me so long, I’ve just been struggling to find the time and motivation to write, but I’m hoping things are going to get better.

As I get further into the story, I have actually already got most of it drafted. The first few chapters were written just so long ago that I’ve had to scrap them entirely, hence why it’s taking me so long. Hopefully though, eventually I should be able to get updates out faster as I will just need to edit what I’ve written already.

Progress Update - 31/03/22

Hey all I just wanted to make a quick post to go over the current progress of Chapter Two.

It’s…coming along…slowly…

I’m 7k words in so far and far from done. I haven’t done as much work as I would have liked. Over the past few weeks, work has been crazy and I’ve come home every day completely exhausted. I then developed a bad cold (thankfully just a cold!) for a few days which left me lacking any motivation to get anything done.

In a few days though I’ll have a week off work where I plan to get a good chunk of Chapter Two done and after that, I hope I’ll be able to keep my motivation up and keep getting a lot done.

If things do continue that way, I plan to get Chapter Two out by the end of April. No promises, though.

I’m sorry progress has been slow so far and I’m sorry if I’m slow to respond to asks or comments. My brain is still feeling muddled right now and I’m struggling to just put together coherent sentences.

Anyway, here's a little sneak peak from the start of Chapter Two!

Your mind also had a field day with teasing you about the strange person you saw in your room. Your mind took some very creative liberties on what the person looked like under their hair and cloak. Your mind turned them into a monster of a person. They hard sharp teeth with beady and narrow cat-like eyes. Their hands ended in claws that were ready to tear you to shreds. Your mind seemed to forget that fact that the person didn't seem to want to hurt you…

None of that matters though, because strange monster people can't exist. They simply can't. It's all just your mind wanting to tease you.

What are the physical descriptions of the RO's?(height, build, unique features, etc.)

Height is never something I've thought too much about before, so the numbers might be slightly off to what people already imagine, but here we go!

Silas - Tall with a slim build, maybe around 6’0”. His hair is jet black and tied in a ponytail that he’s rarely seen without. When he does have his hair down, his hair is just above shoulder length. He has piercing bright blue eyes.

He has what appears to be burn marks all over his left hand, which he often hides by wearing black gloves.

Riley - Tall with a fit, well-built frame, around 5’6”. Her hair is cut short into a pixie cut that is dyed to be snow white. Her eyes are bright green.

Virgil - Shorter with a plump and stocky build, around 5’7”. He has auburn hair that’s bushy and always messy and a beard that matches. His eyes are dark green.

Mia - Short with a slim build, around 5’0”. Her hair is black and done up in a messy and loose bun. When not done up, her hair falls just past her shoulders. She has hazel eyes.

Its very minor, i think you should change your "features" a little bit in the future. Its hard to pinpoint what to expect going in. Starting with the fact we are a spaceship resident and what exactly mc role could be

Yeah, I may add a line about being a new resident on the station and what you can expect from that, but I don't want to give too much away. I think the last two points of the features should hopefully give people a good enough idea of what they'll be getting into later.

Hi, will you break your game into parts? It looks like your project can benefit from this but it may not fit with your vision for the story so im curious

Yes, I currently have three parts for the game planned!

Part One - The Arrival

Part Two - The Choice

Part Three - The End

The names and number of parts might change as I write more out, but that's the plan so far! Each part comes at the end/start of a major plot development, so I feel they break the game up well.

Minor Update - 03/17/22

Quick post to say I've updated chapter one a little bit with some of the incredibly helpful feedback I've already received!

* I've tweaked a few lines here and there and fixed a few stray spelling errors.

* I've changed some of the choices at the start of the chapter to give people a few more options to help build the kind of MC they want.

* I've added an option to either stay awake or go to sleep after 'The Encounter' at the end of the chapter.

The feedback so far has been so incredibly helpful, so thank you to everyone who's played and helped out so far!

Is Silas actually suspicious or is he just trying to awkwardly hit on MC and MC can overthink it? He seems like the most interesting RO so far!

Well, without giving too much away, there is a reason Silas has taken such an interest in the MC which doesn't have anything to do with the feelings he might have for them.

That's not to say of course, he also isn't just awkwardly trying to hit on the MC as well ;) Silas isn't the best with the whole flirting thing.

I love Silas so much, would a romance route actually be possible 😳?

Oh, absolutely! And he's not going to be one of these RO's that are tricky to get with, if you want to go on a date with him, you can! (Unless you have a bad relationship with him to start with, but I imagine people wouldn't if they wanted to romance him).

His romance stuff has been some of my favorite to write, so I'm excited to eventually share it!

Hi. I like the demo, the story seems intriguing. I will definitely follow the development of the project. As for things that bothered me a little... (sorry for my english if I don't express everything clearly) There were moments where I felt that MC was behaving in a certain way, although [in the case of my character] it would be incompatible with their personality.

There were options that indicated certain personalities, like moment when MC can come and sit down. So we can: introduce yourself (confident MC. Although not really, because MC seems unsure anyway and they only try to act confident 🤔) or sit back and say nothing (sounds like shy MC). There is no option to ignore them - if MC is introvert and they don't feel like making friends?

Another choice when Mia asks Are you okay? all options are pretty similar and point to one "personality type". I miss being able to be more confident / joking or stoic or grumpy almost rude (my favourite type, haha) but - please, please😭🙏 add some option where MC doesn't chuckle (I can't stand my characters chuckling, aargh 😭)

The third moment where there was no option that matched my MC was when MC asked Mia if she was alright (like the possibility of ignoring her)

Okay, enough complaining, besides I really enjoyed the game! I wonder if we will learn something about MC and their past - what country are they from, do they have family or have they had any job?

In the next minor update I will be adding more options to help distinguish the MC a little more and give more options for people to build them the way they want. (I will add different options to the parts you've already mentioned).

I think my trouble is I assume most of the time people want to react a certain way, but I will be add more rude, confident etc, options to allow players to make the character the way they want.

And yes, in the next chapter you will be able to personalise the MC a little more with the sort of background and family they've come from on so on.

I'm glad you're liking Silas! He has been one of my favourite characters to write because of his mysterious but charming nature. There will be plenty more of him in the coming chapters! ;)
