councilluca:
The rapping of knuckles against their front door roused Luca from his sleep. He stood up shakily and walked through the bedroom he shared with Beckett, through the living room and to the door. Opening it he expected to see a person on the other side, but became confused realizing no one was there. Looking down his eyes landed on a large floral arrangement placed neatly on the ground. Bending to pick it up he plucked the card from its holder, reading the cryptic message. His eyes went wide, tears coming immediately and nearly spilling over. Slamming the door with his foot he walked slowly back to the bedroom trying to get control of himself. But he was already upset, his mind already full of what ifs and whys, his insecurities already taunting him. Outside the once bright and beautiful sky turned dark, almost black, and thunder so powerful shook their windowpanes. Coming into the bedroom Luca thrust the flowers at Beckett and signed, “do you know what this is?” He tossed the card down next to his soulmate before he crossed his arms over his chest. The windows and room itself continued vibrating as the thunder got more powerful.

Meanwhile, Beckett had no idea what was going on. The two of them had spent a late night together, laughing and talking Beckett had been insisting that Luca sing for him and read to him since their soulbond allowed him to hear his Guarded’s voice inside his head. There was a lot to explore together, and to learn about each other. Even if he had no idea what was going on, and of course he wasn’t stirred by the knock because he couldn’t hear it, he did feel Luca’s emotional turmoil. It was huge and intense and immediate, something so overwhelming it woke him from his resting dozing before the vibrations from the thunder or lightning could. It was so overwhelming that Beckett couldn’t sort through it to find the source, he had no idea what was wrong until Luca came back into the bedroom with flowers in hand. They were thrust at him in a way that rustled them enough to break a few, but he didn’t care, breaking more when he dropped the bouquet in favor of the card. That would clear things up, he felt. And it did. His face pinched and confusion held his features as he read the note. “No..” He said out loud, his voice soft. The letter was discarded too, allowed to fall to the floor like trash with the flowers as Beckett stood up and made his way to his soulmate to put hands on his shoulders. “I don’t know what this is about, I swear. Look at me, listen in here.” He touched Luca’s head and his heart. “You’ll know. We’re bonded, I couldn’t lie to you. I can’t lose you either, Lu. Come back here to me, calm down. It’s okay. Talk to me.”
