If some of you actually read the articles on this, yes, a single day won't make a world of change, and they are very clear about that. It's not about a single day, it's about the first day.

OC Ask:

Your OC has three wishes to use however they wish, up to and including resurrecting the dead, killing another, etc. They cannot wish for more wishes. How do they use their wishes?

Aoede would make the wish-granter very, very bored with how long she would take to answer! She's well aware that wishes can backfire, and also a little suspicious of someone dangling prizes willy-nilly.

I think, if she decides to use her wishes...

1) Giving herself one (1) extra spell slot, in perpetuity, so she can be more of a help and less of a hindrance to the party. (She is convinced she is a millstone about their collective necks, especially since she's not much of a healer. She faints at blood.)

2) Washing the ink stains out of her clothes and off her skin perfectly, the first time, every time. No more annoying stains!

3) Admittance to every library in the world through her lifetime. All the collections...full copying permissions...forever. Even the ones people aren't supposed to go to. (This is as selfish as she allows herself to be.)

random OC ask: if your OC was in a modern!AU, what would their job be? what would their day-to-day life look like? would they be very similar to their canon conception, or different?

(the modern!AU can be in the fashion of your favored iteration, whether that is a 1:1 version of our universe, modern-with-magic, etc.)

Aoede in a modern-day AU would still be a librarian, but she wouldn't have taken monastic vows because I cannot imagine her circumstances would have pressured her to do that as strongly. She's still deaf, but now instead of burning a spell slot on powering her magic hearing aids every day, she has the power of modern audiological science on her side.

Her day to day life would therefore be much different--she would be working at a (possibly Deneirrath) university, but while she is from a very wealthy family, she lives a very low-key lifestyle. (The modern Tavarez family has a very successful wine company. She is on poor terms with most of her relatives for personal reasons I haven't fleshed out yet.)

Definitely she takes the bus, or maybe the trolley; I like to think of Baldur's Gate having a trolley. She lives in a very small apartment with roommates. I don't know how she'd meet the companions, but I think if she had to pick roommates from them, Shadowheart and Wyll would be her first choices. Still not much of a social life; she's shy and prefers to decompress in her room after a day of being in front-desk mode.

Basically, she's very similar in some respects, but her constraints are less "I took vows and must not do X" and more "oh my gods, I talked to people ALL DAY, I need to hide." Also Gale probably wouldn't consider eating her hearing aids in a pinch in a modern AU. Probably. You never know.
