wiingsoffate replied to your post:Does anyone know where the would be a raw of the...
i have a TON of screencaps from the eppisode since i download the torent raw. need me to get em for ya?
That would be really appreciated. I just want to replace the photos on the wiki with actual pictures, y’know? Though, even if you don’t even enough that I could use, there’s always next week’s episode.
Does anyone know where the would be a raw of the first episode, without subs? I’m trying to organize the wiki and put actual pictures of the characters up, but it’s hard to get good shots with the subtitles obscuring the pictures.
Two things I have to do today.
1. Help update the Danganronpa wiki with all of the info from today’s episode.
and, second and most importantly,
I was debating it before, but today’s episode officially won me over I’m making a Munakata and no one can stop me.
Guess who’s back
Back again
Wilder’s back
Tell a friend, but I doubt most people will remember
Okay okay, I’m only taking one class this summer so things will calm down. I think.
I’ve been frying my brain trying to keep myself busy but I’m back again.
Welcome to the “child muses being subjected to Sexual Sunday activities with no other choice than to sit in a corner and pretend none of this exists” club.

They said he was dangerous, luring in people who were at their darkest hours with fake hopes of finding someone who actually understood them. And who said he didn’t ? All those feelings, the overwhelming pressure they suffered from…
Wasn’t it all relatable ?
In a way, it was LAUGHABLE. Despite how many times they all claimed to have lost all faith in humanity, despite how they believed everyone was heartless and cold, they still craved to find the exception to the rule ! The nerve, the contradictions; they all kept the game from growing boring. Who knew when a pawn would surprise him with something akin to a WILL ?
The time it all required was hardly any problem, regardless of his busy schedule. Sure, the person behind the screen grew more and more demanding of his attention as their heart grew FONDER; but he would lie if he said he didn’t find the exchange fair.
Time for a heart to break. Whoever said that price was too high ?
And so their interactions continued, gentle prodding turning into reassuring words that weren’t too difficult to come up with. Ah, yes. The child wanted nothing more than to embrace DEATH, and yet, Izaya wasn’t surprised by his apparent astonishment.
They all paled while facing their ‘wish’.
In a way, the informant wondered why they never questioned their fear, pegging it as a rational reaction coming from the survival INSTINCT embedded into their very genetics. Such nonsense would perhaps have some reason to it if the only ways to die were painful torture methods. Nowadays, drugs, intoxication; endless possibilities of even involuntary death were at the disposal of those weak enough to reach out for them.
Ah… boring.
Their play would soon reach its end, and he found himself chuckling under his breath. Of course, he was open to any surprises, but the chances of anything out of the ordinary happening were quite slim.
Izaya chose a cafe he found pleasant for their encounter. They were to meet under his conditions, and the separated booths left room for some privacy should he decide to go for a drastic end. Comfort was the key… and if something were to go WRONG, a few favors would keep the sight of an unconscious child from turning into a scandal. From his seat, he watched him walk closer and closer.
How exciting, how exciting, how exciting !
Smile on place, and the show could begin.
“You’re finally here.”
『 ...Uh-huh. 』
Anxiety bubbled in his chest all at once, and Shingetsu couldn’t explain why. Was it because he was miles from anything that familiar to him? Was it the prospect of conducting some sort of ‘secret’ meeting in public? Was it the man?
The man who was not a stranger... but calling him “friend” left a twisted feeling in his gut--something else the boy couldn’t understand. He had kindness, and charisma... nothing about him seemed threatening, from a surface point of view.
He felt like he could trust him.
Shingetsu took a seat across from him and dipped his head, unsure of how a proper greeting should go.
『 Nice to meet you... 』
"The average adult has an estimate between five and six liters of blood, and it is important that you don't deplete enough to cause the body to go into shock."
♔ The information, which, for the record, she was already familiar with, seemed to glide right over her head. She was fixated more on the child that stood before her. Of course, she knew who this was. An outstanding prodigy, with perhaps a mountain of a reputation to back himself up with. Even a Princess couldn’t ignore him. It was only natural that such a high-achiever would be well-known, even amongst some of the high-schoolers. “Aaaaaaaaaaaa—-h! Shingetsu-kun, correct?!” Time for a burst of unwarranted affection. Sonia placed her hands on his cheeks, smushing and pinching them in her enthusiasm. “Sooooooo cute!!”
『 ...! 』
This was unexpected. His instinctive reaction was to shy away, or get angry, but this was a Princess--such a reaction seemed too rude. And it wasn’t as if he wasn’t used to being poked and prodded by adults. Yet this touch was gentle by comparison, so it was... acceptable.
Thinking back to it, people like him are the reason adults warn children to be cautious when using the internet. There’s always someone out there, waiting to prey on the vulnerable, like a snake in the grass.
The two had been in contact for weeks. After stumbling across each other on a message board, a friendship seemed to form instantaneously. The one who went by Nakura was so kind and patient, there was nothing Shingetsu felt he couldn’t tell him.
In fact, he encouraged the boy to. Worries, concerns, feelings—everything his parents neglected to understand. His friendship served as an outlet for his depression and for a while, things were nice.
It was a month into their friendship when Shingetsu had said something that triggered a strange response;
‘it hurts so much I want to die.’
‘Then die.’
It was an usually cold reply from someone who had, until that point, been so warm, but the seeds had already been planted. When the sudden change in tone should have been a warning, it wasn’t--because Shingetsu's guard was down.
‘Let’s disappear, Torami-san. I can’t stand waiting anymore.’
In his mental state, the idea sounded sensible. So much so that the two set a date almost immediately, as if they were worried someone would find out. The faster Shingetsu rushed into it, the harder it would be for him to back out.
‘The sooner, the better. I don’t want to wait, either.’
And on that morning, Shingetsu left the house with exactly enough for a train ticket to Ikebukuro, and planned not to look back. But as he left, he mulled over his words. Nakura had given Shingetsu instructions “easy enough for a child to understand.” He wondered if those words would come to haunt him.
Would they be surprised to find that they had made a pact with an elementary schooler?
Would he turn him away? Refuse? Would it even bother him? There wasn’t any turning back for Shingetsu. If Nakura wouldn’t help him then he’d find another way, or that’s what he told himself.
It was approaching high noon when Shingetsu found himself in front of a high-end cafe, and cautiously stepped inside.
『 ... 』
‘I’ll be waiting at the last table.’ Just as it said.
Christmas in Japan: A Reference Tool (+video & article links!)
I wanted to bring this up for the holiday season because the topic itself is interesting to me. It’s fascinating to see other cultures take traditionally Western holidays like Christmas and make it unique to their country.
This is something that people don’t really seem to think about, especially in terms of roleplaying (inaccurate) holiday scenarios like:
Making Japanese characters go trick-or-treating on Halloween [excluding rare instances with small children at public events, people don’t do this. Especially not teenagers/adults, and especially not ‘door-to-door.’]
Japanese characters having a “traditional” Christmas dinner (turkey, mashed potatoes, etc. Basically everything left over from Thanksgiving.)
Japanese characters disregarding the custom of girls giving gifts to guys on Valentine’s Day (February 14th), and guys giving gifts to girls on. White Day (March 14th.)
For starters, the most predominant religions in Japan are Shinto and Buddhism. The percentage of Christians in Japan is incredibly low. That being said, Japan isn’t a “Christian country.”
Christmas is seen from a different perspective than in Western countries (for instance, the U.S.) because the Japanese don’t care about the religion involved.
That being said, Christmas is not a national holiday. This means that people are still expected to go to school and work (this year Christmas falls on a Friday.) Because of that, Christmas is more typically celebrated on the 24th.
[However, what is a national holiday is December 23rd, the current emperor’s birthday (Emperor Akihito.)]
In America, Christmas is seen as a very family-oriented holiday--but in Japan, it’s all about the romance. Romance and happiness, more specifically.
and consumer commercialism but that’s literally everywhere so that’s nothing special
Much like Japan commandeering Valentine’s Day in addition to their established White Day, Christmas in Japan has become a lover’s day. It’s a night for couples to:
go to expensive restaurants
go on romantic walks through the generously decorated streets.
stay in a love hotels.
exchange gifts
It’s a day for “celebrating” your love and your lover
****audible wink****
And for those who are without a significant other around Christmas time, those people tend to hang out with friends to make the holiday season a bit more bearable.
Also, if you’re looking for what the “traditional” Christmas dinner in Japan is, the answer is Kentucky Fried Chicken.
What started as a promotional stunt in the 1970′s (which was basically KFC telling the Japanese public ‘yes, this is what people in the West eat on Christmas.’) has become an... accepted tradition, basically. It’s so popular that people often have to call in and reserve their “Christmas bucket” days or weeks in advance.
To give a visual representation, this is the closest thing to a genuine Japanese Christmas song. It sums up basically everything I’ve mentioned above, so enjoy.
Xmas? I Don’t Know Such a Thing by Hyadain
While Christmas isn’t a national holiday, New Year’s Day in Japan is incredibly important. This is where people go to shrines and pray and leave offerings in hopes of a better new year (as seen at the end of the video.)
